Sadly, you are not alone. Fuzzy thinking liberal librarians across the country work hard at dumbing down their libraries. Anything goes when trying to bring more bodies through the door to artificially raise the statistics.

This is something to keep an eye on. If this connects to reading more books great! If not, who in the world is doing any thinking? American idol is a great show but it has its place and it's not in the library. I'll give it the benefit of the douubt, until I see how all this works out. Let's keep our eyes on the reading and the books!

And I am guessing you would prefer the teens hanging out on the streets and not in a building with supervision?...supervision is fuzzy liberal thinking?...I think you are the fuzzy thinker. It is not 'dumbing down' but called thinking out of the box and reaching out to ALL residents in a community.

It's not a building to hang out in, its called a library.
Its a place where people go who want to read in a quiet setting.

I have an idea, if you care so much about keeping these kids off the streets and give them a place to hang out, let us know where you live so we can pass it on to them.

Also, would this just be during library hours, or could they stop by whenever they wanted.

I doubt its 24/7.

It is a great idea. We have this big Library that very few people use. This will get more use out of the bulding and get the teens to the Library.
If more people that use the library the better.
