Thats why my kids would never go to a Memphis school! But, I blame it on the parents of the child. The girl shouldn't have known anything about acts like that her age unless she has been exposed to it she wouldn't have even known..

11 years ago our daughter attended Ross Elementary. She was in 3rd grade. One of the boys on her bus threatened to rape her. He told her he was going to pull her pants down and... When we went to the school administration we were told they couldn't do anything until it happened to her. So, we pulled our daughter from the school and put her in a private school. I see that Ross Elementary hasn't changed in 11 years.

SAY WHAT I MEAN TELL ME THIS WHEN ARE WE AS ADULTS PARENTS AND CONDUCTORS OF THE SMALL WORLD CHILDERN ARE GOING TO LISTEN TO OUR CHILDERN AND HEAR WHAT THEY ARE SAYING. IT ALWAYS HAD TO BE A LACK OF RESPECT FOR THE ORDER OF CLASS IF THE YOUNG MAN RAISED HIS HAND TO GET THE HELP HE SO NEEDED BUT THE TEACHER JUST DIDNT HAVE A CLUE AS TO WHAT WAS GOING ON RIGHT BEFORE HER EYES. ASK YOURSELF WHAT THE IS UP WITH THE LITTLE GIRLS MOM UP TO AND WHY DOES HER CHILD PLAY OUT SEX ACTS, IS IT THAT SHE HAS SEEN THEM OR MAYBE BEEN APART OF SEX ACTS.IT ALL STARTS WITH HOW THIS CHILD AND MANY OTHERS ARE RAISED. AS A PEOPLE AND LEADERS WHY CANT WE NOT BE SO SELFISH AND SCHOOL OUR CHILDERN AND NOT JUST SEND THEM TO SCHOOL.

I applaud the mother of this 8 yr old boy. Her primary concern is for her son... the fact that this happened on Monday and she was not informed until Wednesday. We need more mothers like this in the world.

Unacceptable MCS!! There is no way this 3rd grade girl even knew about this sexual act unless she had seen it performed with her own eyes. I blame the parent(s). The librarian should be fired not just reprimanded. The child tried to tell, even raising his hand. This is pitiful Memphis City Schools. Come on A. C. let's start firing people at the city schools!!!

I am as concerned for the girl. What kind of home life does she have where she has learned this type of behavior? I hope someone is investigating what she has been exposed to. It is a sad world we live in today.

Unfortunately, the librarian's attitude is not unusual. Many teachers have the same attitude. I applaude those few teachers who actually care for their students' well-being and not just their education.

They need to more about that because if you let one get away with it then others going to think they should to. I dont care what age they are. Her parents need to get her some help because if they don't she going to keep on doing.

OMG!!! How could something so profane occur in "school"? I hope the mother of the little boy takes this as far as possible. It is hard for me to believe that a little girl would even be exposed to such explicit behavior! I am appauled!!!

Has anyone, at all, wondered if this even happened the way this boy said it did? I mean, how did a girl manage to reach under a table, unzip his pants, go through his undergarments and do a "sexual act" all the while no other child or teacher noticed it? Also, isn't it a little unusual that a 3rd grade boy would even be able to physically go through this? I find this very difficult to believe. Though children usually do not make this sort of thing up, it is ironic to me that no one of this post or the media has asked about the other side of this. Has no one considered that she is not at fault all by herself? Perhaps they both participated? I really wish people would look at all the angles before they jump to conclusions. You weren't there. This parent wasn't there.

Some people will file a lawsuit over stupid things. With the school system already lacking in its academics, some parent will try to find the silver-cash-lining in any situation. While this parent's concerns are valid concerns that any parent should have, a financial settlement should be the last thing on her mind. Her child's emotional welfare should come first. I agree that some people should lose their jobs over the handling of this matter, but a cash settlement is ridiculous!

Memphis City Schools GRADES 2F's and 2 D's by the state examination now this! A teacher or librarian that is too LAZY, IRRESPONSIBLE,NEGLIGENT,UN-TRA INED AND NOT QUALIFIED,AND MOSTLY INCOMPETANT AT BEST IS WATCHING OUR CHILDREN.
FIRE ALL OF THEM. GET THE SAME STANDARDS AS THE COUNTY HAS
WHICH SCORED 4A's by the state.

Protect the children from the "Adults" employed by MCS. It is obvious from all stories I see that there is low quality, ignorant, un-caring and inept management and teaching from a large portion of the teachers and management in the MCS.

Usually when I talk to a financial officer, secretary, or teacher, I feel as if I am speaking with someone from "the hood" with no proper grammer, syntax, pronunciation, or intelligence required for that type of position.

There are good teachers, principal, secretaries, but for the most part in my experience I feel the overwhelming majority are unprofessional and unqualified. Would'nt you agree? It's not this way in Shelby County School System

HUH? Did you not proofread? How are you one of the people complaining if you can't even form a complete thought on paper using punctuation? I'm guessing you went to a City School as well? Unbelievable!!
