Hopefully, Michael's bold yet insensitive declaration creates a national dialogue about the spectral disorder known as autism.

Not even the BBC has chimed in. Does this mean that autism is a uniquely American childhood malady? I wonder why? Just a little something to make you go, "Hmmm...". Because China has a censored press? Could that explain anything? Instead of looking at fox news for articles on autism, search out british medical journals. You know, scholarly research that is based on reality? Actually, if you're a savage fan, you've probably never heard of such information...especially not of the scholarly kind. Divert all you want. The man spoke lies and misinformation, and then backtracked like the true coward that he is. Hopefully, some parent of a child with autism will kick the crap out of the fearful old fool on the street. I hope, but i'm sure that unlike savage, most people are civilized and decent, and would never bully someone who is helpless, old, and likely incontinent. You know, decent? Oh wait...wrong crowd

To say this just shows how little Mr. Savage knows about Autism. I have a 15 year old son with Autism and By this guys standards my son must be in the 1% who really suffer from Autism. After EEG's, brain scans, pet imaging and so many other tests and treatments my son is still autistic. When will these IDIOTS on the radio learn to be more aware of the issues they address on their shows. This guy is way more handicapped than any autistic person I have ever met!

Why waste 5 hours a week listening to a fool? Let him tell his flock "how it is" and blame the world for his shortcomings. He's an angry, sad, bitter old man who can only argue with someone as long as he can hang up on them and get the last word while distorting theirs. Savage is an intellectual zero, a cowardly bully, and a moron. His own words prove such EACH AND EVERY TIME HE SPEAKS. His books are slightly less intellectually valid than coloring books. The fact that they're not titled "joke books" makes them libelous in content. His audience should be proud to follow such a leader. How can such wit be replaced when he leaves radio? My suggestion- an air horn. It makes senseless noise, too, and is accurate on rare occasions. Don't you become that which you despise if you judge so harshly without actually listening to his program?

The Janet Jackson thing was just stupid and half-time shows at the Super Bowl are completely uneccessary. Hopefully you can come up with a better example of Conservatives opposing free speech. I will also add that it was the Liberals - led by Tipper Gore - that came out with music ratings. I don't care much for Savage, but he can say what every he wants. He has free speech and the listeners have free will. As to the fairness doctrine, we don't need it. Here's why - listeners and viewers have free will - that is fair.

Here's why - listeners and viewers have free will - that is fair. Access to information is what is fair. Free will is a completely separate issue. If all news is slanted to the left or right, then there is no fairness, regardless of your free will. Is that hard to understand? As for the Jackson thing, the appropriateness of a halftime show isn't the issue. It was sandwiched between a game and a flyover by the air force. The military display was fine, right? After all, killing is good, boobs are bad. Simple. AS the folks who see such. Neither is the point. The point is the FCC fines natural things like breasts under the Bush administration. It's akin to cenrosing a gender who has mamory glands...something the Taliban does. Savages listeners have shown that they lack free will, based on this message board. I have yet to see one that says "Savage may be wrong." I don't need to see someone saying he IS wrong, or COULD BE wrong, but they refuse to use the plausible deniability defense. To this, they are all sheep, and deserve their spineless leader. And again, I state- I need not stick my hand in fire to know that it's hot. Nor do I need to drink poison to know that it could kill me. So I don't need Savage's radio fallacy to make me stupid.

He just didn't have the sense to know how outrageous his stupid words would be this time. It's one thing to rail against overprescribed medicine. I get that. But what's the big pharma issue with autism? Did I miss something about a cure all pill for such? Nope. So since there is no economic incentive to prescribe autism, lets get to the next level of interest. Weiner...er, Savage was inconvenienced by an autistic child, so he got into his bully pulpit and railed against a child who has no recourse, nor possibly could have since he has a genetic condition that makes him socially awkward. Hey Savage, next time you should start punching blind people in the face. They can't see it coming or defend themselves either. But I'm sure they 99% aren't really blind...they just want the good parking spots. Savage is an idiot, and so are the ones who listen to him, or demand that others give the fool a chance. He had his chance, and chose to use it to bully children. If you're into his viewpoints, you're also a bully.

Wallet,
I guess you overlooked the V chip issue? Or the "no more live broadcasts" issue that popped up in the last 4 years? With a conservative supreme court, congress, and president?
Or the overregulation of words by the FCC (a government agency) under the command of GWB? Need more examples?
How about bleeping "god damn" from TV shows? Think that always happened? Nope, that's new. Or that radio shows can't say "poop" when talking about taking a poop? That's a 2004 rule. Who was in office in 2004?
Wake up, fool. It's not the liberal media. Not since Disnet bought ABC and GE bought NBC. NBC, ABC and Fox means 3/4ths of media is conservative. CBS seems liberal by being moderate. Shame that fools only see the value of their own viewpoint, even after America was founded by its dissent.

I work in the medical field and have seen children with autism who are truely disabled by this diseased. Though, I have seen MANY children, the parents have tried to pass off as having autism when the problem is, they are spoiled brats and the parents refused to deal with it or even try to disciplined them.
So, tax payers money is being distributed to these parents who do not give parental guidance or care to children and then let other innocent working tax payers foot the bill.
The children with autism are noteably different than a child with a discipline problem.
Savage does not have the bed side manner in delivering his message but I agree with him.
The doctors are cashing in on this.
I have seen doctors cash in on giving disability papers to people with back problems who did not have back problems but were scamming the system to pay for their living expenses. The doctors tell them, you will need to have this minor back surgery and then we can send the papers in. I know this for a fact because a couple I know both went and had this done and believe me nothing was wrong with them. Went deer hunting and had no problem lifting this heavy deer.
I have seen people apply for disability for "Fatigue Syndrome", the doctors sign the papers after taking only blood test. The Disability Dept. proves this based on letters from the doctor. Who doesn't have fatigue?
I have seen doctors many times tell patients with Hepatitis C, they only had a year to live and must go through this expensive treatment for a year. No or very little change in the lab results a year later but the doctors made money and so did the org. that gives the kit for the daily shots. The people with Hep C usually live a long time, my husband has this and it was 13 years ago. We paid $1000. monthly just for his injections.
The thing is many people live years after this treatment with very little difference in their blood count.
Do I trust doctors? NO. I have seen what they can do. Not all doctors, sometimes you will find a good doctor.
Scams are alive and well in the medical field.

He has no friends in the media who have come to his defense, that speaks volumes. He lost his credibility in my opinion with his asinine comments. There are alot of talented people who could do a better job than Michael Savage, his 3 hour show is a waste of airtime, he spends most of it promoting himself instead of reporting what is actually going on in the news. A few weeks ago, Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski (of MSNBC, Morning Joe show) sat in for Bob Grant on WABC when he was on vacation. These two people put on an excellent show, it was lively, funny, entertaining, professional and very informative. Tonight, Ellis Henican is filling in for Savage. I have listened to Ellis in the past, he is okay (center left). I would like to hear more points of view on WOR. I would love to hear Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski on WOR but they have a 3 hour morning show on MSNBC so they probably couldn't commit to a 3 hour show 5 nights a week. I got sick of Michael Savage's schtick years ago, but still listen to him because there is not much choice in that time slot. I also like Monica Crowley, I have heard her do fill ins for Laura Ingraham, she has done a good job.

I have a son with asperger's syndrome and I would like to ask Michael Savage, how am I cashing in on him having this disorder? Although my son is pretty high functioning he was pretty much rejected by the so-called normal kids in the regular middle school he attended. When he was 12 he became unable to cope with the demands of changing classes, keeping track of his assignments, dealing with social situations, etc. He was taunted and did not know how to handle it. He is not aggressive. When he would overreact by yelling at the kids who taunted him to "shutup", the school decided he was causing a "disruption". They told me it "wasn't fair to the other kids". I was forced by the school system to put him in an alternative school. He has been in the alternative school for almost 3 years now. I feel that in this school he is getting an inferior education than when he was getting in the suburban public school system. They use outdated textbooks and the teachers are just not up to speed on what is being taught in the suburban public schools in my area. It was not my choice to place him in an alternative school. It was the school district's choice. They could have chosen to have an extra teacher in the class to help him with his work and to make sure the other kids were not bullying him. Now the school district pays $50,000 to $60,000 for him to be in the alternative school. This is costing the taxpayers alot of money. I don't get any money personally from the government, I would have preferred he be mainstreamed through H.S. but the school district decided they could not be bothered. Also, how do I benefit when he graduates from this alternative H.S.? He won't have any real job skills and then what?? Michael Savage should attack the school systems who can't be bothered, many times the parents have little choice in the matter. Also, I brought my son to karate for 5 years which didn't help much I also bring him for tutoring, etc. so Savage can't say I didn't try to help my son learn better social skills and academic skills. Also, being in an alternative school has been bad for my son, the few friends he has made there are bused to the school from 15 - 30 miles away so he can't really socialize with them often. Savage could have chosen to discuss this in a rational manner, instead he chose to make these over-the-top, idiotic statements so he could get attention in order to sell some more books. Give me a break.
