Ok, I get it. Still don't know why it was "gutted" and those other posts were deleted. I don't take this stuff personally whatsoever.....
Rose, let's face it. Whoever is monitoring this forum feels that they are getting more clicks from the anti-immigrants than from the rest of us. Unfortunately, our types don't normally feel like associating with people who are so, how do you, strong in their convictions. Perhaps we are the type that started by getting angry when we were proven wrong, and eventually learned that the only right thing to do was to go through the whole garbage dump just to get to the truth. My last guess is that some moron moderator has decided to pick on our screen names, or at leas mines

Basically, every little group e-mails somebody sometime.....Get it? It's the Pontius Pilate thing. Give Pilate an Edward G. Robinson voice: "I gotta give you koyt'ins! Koyt'ins, I tell ya! Sheeee?"

LOL! So funny; I don't think Edward G. ever played a loveable character. I don't understand the game these chicks here play. They openly talk about other people, bashing them usually and then they play that I'll suck up to someone who doesn't like this person, blah, blah, blah. I'm really getting burned out; it's gotten to be cheap thrills. I could learn more just from reading.

Basically, there's not going to be any integral immigration law. The old one will simply become subordinate to all the conditions set in the numerous oncoming homeland security laws. Bush is already set to work just like Presidents did in 60s---by Executive Order; things that expire and hardly ever become permanent law. Government by decree, that's what we're getting. The law was necessary to keep the programs properly funded without having to beg for money in Congress every year. It's ditto now.

After they started discussing a group protest against one poster a couple weeks ago, and then created the appearance of forming an off topix meeting place to decide who to gang up on next, I sent an email asking that certain messages be taken as a group and moderators be informed of this so that just such a cabal effort to take out selected members would be unsuccessful in building a private kingdom.

( I admit the Aussie they took out needed some action, but the ignore feature could be revived on an individual basis so that a reader could select not to even see posts from someone they didn't want to even read and ignore.)
I after years of USENET understand how to warn and then ignore, in fact I have already got a small list of posters who I do not bother to read as they are simply here to get responses to their outrageous comments. Some people find an ignore feature a nice feature although for those not registered, it has no benefit as you have to log in to activate individual choices like that. To this date the ignore is not here, but they are I am sure considering writing that in, the necessary sub-routines are all here needing only a small amount of added code.

As to the moderators or even the site being biased for click score, I doubt that, the majority owners are in business, but if you look at their primary market, and their primary leanings,( this is not Murdock news corp it is gannet etc.) I would suspect freedom of speech issues, and liberal slant would be more likely if they did apply a bias.
For my own part I have complete freedom, no one has the least influence on what I choose to publish, and there is a multitude of editors here. WIR could by simply clicking a link on any page, apply to become an editor with exactly the same status I have.
The application asks for a resume, but from the clarity of her writing style, and from my own knowledge that my resume was very sparse, I would bet if she applied, and was willing to forgo copy right on material published here, which she agreed to when she agreed to the TOS of a poster, she would the next morning receive an email saying welcome to topix, you are an editor of immigration reform.

As KK already knows, anyone can review the newswire and start a forum discussion of any posting there.
As an editor you can create a blog post from any newswire article, any forum post, or any website page, OR write your own articles and post them. Other than that an editor here has no powers at all.

The flag if anyone clicks it, is anonymous even if you are an editor, the flag feature does not track the complainer at all.

Emails are another factor, anyone user or not can send emails, How they are weighted, I do not know.

Well that sucks. That means no immigration policy, no congruent laws. I wonder if Bush likes seeing the chaos the failed immigration bill is causing. I wouldn't be surprised. I think he's very vindictive. I predicted this mess and all the immigrant bashing that's going to follow. When the hate crimes start, these bigots are going to get just what they're hoping for a chance to kill some illegal aliens. I'm not trying to be alarmist, just think it's gearing up to that. That freak of nature Sandy just implied that I supported that child rapist. She is one disturbed creature.

Wow! That was a heap of information. Thank you. I thought about the Editor thing, but I'm already here way too much. Sure like the sound of all that freedom though. LOL! I like that ignore feature; used to use it on AOL quite often. Sometimes I just type in the word "ignore" to let the person know I read their post but chose not to respond. It's pretty lame though. There's this silly illusion of pride and that people really care about what you say or who you are and you don't want to be mis-represented. Like who cares, right? But I do try to be conscientious and not misquote or re-arrange people's thoughts. We're here to exchange ideas and information after all. Why try to be deceptive about it?

Yes, I have used the flag feature several times for vulgar language. I was wondering if it's kosher to flag the same poster over and over; I have to admit that sometimes I've been so angry I sit on the flag sign and click away. I only did it a couple of times though. I think someone called me a douche-bag; no it was worse than that. LOL! Thanks for all the info; interesting stuff.

I cant decide if they misjudged the reaction to the solution they proposed, or if they knew ahead of time, and wanted it to become the mess it is.

Watch as they now simply implement what they couldn't get congress to codify. They will yes add some placating increased enforcement appearance, but the sum of what they do will be so close to the failed immigration reform complete with making all present illegal aliens some form of residency with a token nod to filtering out the gang members and criminals as to make the failed law un necessary.

The rhetoric today demonstrated the continuing belief on the part of the administration that Americans will not take entry level jobs, so we MUST import low wage slaves. The democrats cloak themselves in concern for "human rights" while marching in lock step with industry in demanding slave labor...

If I find that Chinaman I will certainly make him take back his curse or die trying. I would rather be bored.

To reiterate my previous invitation, IF you were to be an editor, you would not need to spend more time here, BUT if you wanted to add news or different sources of course you could, think about it. As a shared responsibility editing can be a very small time consumer. In fact topix has some pages that all the editors have ceased to be active ( as immigration reform was when I got here) so the robo blogger posts a few new articles every once in a while and AP can post an article etc... BORING blog pages with no editor IMHO lol

I have not written code since the late 70s but I bet the flag feature will recognize multiple strokes from the same session id ( a dynamic number assigned each time you log in as a visitor, or in your cookie as a registered member)and simply over write this would be the easiest way to keep the flag anonymous while preventing multi same user same post flags. Don't waste your time, the moderators are not likely impressed by volume of complaints.

Your ie7 is showing you a cashed page to speed your "internet enjoyment" ( thanks for nothing bill) If you click the refresh ( arrows next to address box) you will lose post 74 to history,( where you can find the cashed page for a while depending on your settings LOL).
I never saw it, so I never will.. THAT SUX..
petty people bore me with their claim to moral superiority and their inability to allow disagreement LOL

Your ie 7 is showing you a cashed page from before it was deleted.

I just cleared the cache and restarted a new browser. I still see it. However, IE7 is not one of the most popular browsers around. I turn of the the Flash Player add-on. I just found out it was the cause of numerous browser crashes thanks to those animated ads. I only turn it on for youtube video and immediately turn it back off. You are right. It was Sandy. With her, it's just a series of guttural sounds back and forth. No substantial reply there
