Wow you found it, I swear I looked three times and couldn't. It looks like Both S Barnes and Ann on another forum love to fight. As well as a few others I won't mention. Well I just wanted to let you know it was a pleasure knowing you. My husband doesn't want me on the computer so much anymore he says its not good for me. I guess he's tired of seeing me upset and grumpy all the time. I'm sure I'll check in now and then but not as often. Anyway like I said its been a pleasure, and that goes to Kelly, and S&T as well. I hope I haven't forgotten anyone.

Awww, same goes for me WA. You've been a grounding force on this forum. My bf is pretty pissed at me too. He says I'm taking on too much negative energy which is true. I don't need it. I'll miss you. You were not only supportive in a very honest way, but held your own. I admire and respect people who don't have to have a pack of wolves to back them up. Please come back when you can. Rose

I don't bother with them anymore. As you can see, there is either a coward moderating this forum, or one of the moderator IS IN this forum. I checked through the forum pages going back to when I came here and I see all the nonsense user created threads are still there. This thread we are on was deleted on purpose. I only post on stuff with no comments or which I find extemely interesting and can't pass. You learn as you go along, but there really isn't any discussion here. I passed by the X-Files, and I think Fed Up told someone to get out of there because the topic was for xenophobes.

Sandy continues to bring up those "fan clubs." Again, she's the only person here with a steady fixation on calling people gay.

There was an outsode editor from topics main page visiting the immigration reform for a while, But I cant immagone why they would have deleted all the posts that are missing above.

I am still learning a lot about topix, and Several things I see going on in here don't make a lot of sense to me.

also why did someone remove all the posts except mine? That doesn't make any sense, If they had removed mine asw well I would not have received a notification of new posts in this thread.

It only notifies me of new posts in threads I have commented in, and I can choose to ignore threads like say mexicans fear immigration reform...LOL

One time I saw someone posting anonymous because she couldn't understand why her messages weren't showing after she signed out. In one message, someone complained that they were having it out with someone who turned out to be an actual editor. Anyway, from what I've been reading, this company only recently changed to this format at the end of last year or maybe April in this year (I know, very innacurate). So, it is possible they are only seeing how it goes and allowing a ton of stuff to happen. This forum is antagonistic, but from the posts in the Topix News, it can get literally scary with posters that might live in your neighborhood and everything. One guy was discovered by his high school classmates and was given so much flak, he begged Topix to delete both his postings AND thread.

On a more objective tone, many people are doing a disservice by not reading the articles. Clicking the article is what sends people to these newspapers that let topix be their commentary collection website. With people staying here swinging sledge hammers at each other, I don't see what click-value we have for this company. I may not need any of these immigration services, but I may research it for someone who does and refer them to one of these advertises. Like I said, I think this is currently at a lab stage.

Good choice. This is very weird. Up until today, I can only see my posts plus the replies. Maybe if they haven't been posted to after a certain time, they get deleted? I'm feeling paranoid, but I'm sure Kultur will solve the mystery. A real whiz that kid. This is my retreat; don't tell. LOL!

I think this thread just got buried, not deleted. But you know more about that stuff than I do. Someone asked me for it today and I found it on the Forums list. No matter.

If only we could deport certain posters, like to Siberia. If I get one more inane reply or interruption from Rebel, I swear I'm going to put my fist through the monitor and clip her. LOL! Just kidding! I don't know if anyone's really reading this stuff; sometimes I feel like I'm talking to myself.

You're right about "no discussion." It's impossible when minds are closed. I'm really beginning to wonder if some of them might have mental health issues. I do read your posts every now and then; you look lonely. LOL!

Since the newspaper chains are the owners ( majority anyway) they now are switching their local forums to topics disguised as local.
I have posted for about a year in several Gannet papers ( they buy robotics from a major customer of mine so I go to Gannet papers to deliver the robotics and meet the local editors etc) and I have watched several reform their local forums into topics with local letterhead.
As an editor here of 4 different pages I use the newswire a lot on those 4 topics. The selection of what the crawler delivers to the newswire is AP, Reuters, and then papers they own, followed by an incredible number of BLOGS ( including my own if I post something new there that uses the key words like "immigration" . As an editor here, my articles will go across the wire and possibly appear in print in one or more of the owning papers,( yeah right LOL) I had to agree to waiving copyright for that when I became an editor.
I search out other sites, and if I post several articles from that site the crawler adds it to the list it searches.( someone here must have keyed in a lot of right wing blogs like fire society numbers usa etc.) Possibly it picks those out of posts?
The format in here when I arrive using a topics/news/immigration is different than it appears if I come in from some of the local papers even tho I am a registered user at those papers, and is slightly different again if I come here from a paper where I am not registered, in all cases I am recognized as an editor now, in any topic, just as a few visiting editors were recognized when they were posing in a couple threads here last week.
I believe this forum is still in development as I have seen a few key changes, and I have 3 bugs I would report to them if I was a beta tester for them...( LOL I AM NOT)
I did make a comment To admin at topix that moderation should be consistent/ non biased/ or not done at all (let the user filter.)
I was sent back an email suggesting that all "objectionable" posts should be flagged but no one proffered a description of objectionable, so I have limited my own flagging to 3 of the 7 deadly words from the old FCC rules, and calls for insurrection or murder.

It is my understanding that flagged posts who are not registered are read by a moderator ( who I don't know) and deleted, while flagged posts from registered users are also accompanied by a warning? I do not know, I have never received as yet a warning and I am sure someone has found something I have said "objectionable" by now.( I have read somewhere the warning appears as a red banner that must be read before any new post will be accepted, I have yet to experience that) Long posts may take a few minutes to appear ( even mine) I believe they are running them through a word filter although I have not tried to push that envelope to test the theory, and I have seen several words that would have not passed any filter I myself set up...LOL Some local papers have different filters, A word acceptable on topic might show as *** in a local paper etc.
I do not follow threads that degenerate into name calling so I don't know if deletions are rampant, this thread is the first time I have seen evidence of deletion, and I cannot imagine what was objectionable about the posts deleted.
I do wish all the posters would check out the articles I place on the main page for comment, I try to find a selection of opinion. I have refrained mostly from publishing my own articles, although I may start posting a few if the news gets slower. I will probably insult everyone when I do equally as most people seem to be so deeply ingrained into the "fighting for agenda" mode and not really wanting to explore the issues to learn the differing perspectives.( there are some however this is not a condemnation of everyone).
I myself don't enjoy some of the "fighting" on a personal level I see here, but then some people are here for the fight and could care less to read explinations or questions. If the site is for everyone, users can choose to ignore what part they choose not to like.( my opinion)

Ok, I get it. Still don't know why it was "gutted" and those other posts were deleted. I don't take this stuff personally whatsoever. The inner workings of Topix and who does what to what posts or forums don't matter either. I've never been bumped or flagged as far as I know. I have used some "objectionable" language. Mea culpa, mea culpa, and I get those little red notices at the top of my post. I always ignore them and they go right through on the second try. Not much of a rule person myself. I usually only get them for excessive number of words. Gift of the gab, I guess.

Anyway, take it easy. And check in once in awhile and say hey. Always love your input. cya

The warning is software generated. It looks for George Carlin kind of words. Many people defeat it by writing in capitals or spacing the letters. The software recognizes the word for rear end really fast and places the consecutive stars on it. It's a good idea. I don't bother with any of the letters anymore. I just type a bunch of asterisks. People can figure it out.
