Looking at the covenants (at least one of which seems to be mising from the article), there isn't anything illegal or immoral, or even controversial, about the actions the churh may be about to take. The reasons people migrate are many and the US, and that means its citizens, share in many of the factors, like support for administrations that destabilise local economies... In any event, good for the churh. I'm with Ms. Marciano on this one. They can do what they want and God bless them. Comment: What other State or Federal laws do you teach your children it's OK to ignore? Federal Immigration and Nationality Act Section 8 USC 1324(a)(1)(A)(iv)(b)(iii) "Any person who ... encourages or induces an alien to ... reside ... knowing or in reckless disregard of the fact that such ... residence is ... in violation of law, shall be punished as provided ... for each alien in respect to whom such a violation occurs ... fined under title 18 ... imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both." Section 274 felonies under the federal Immigration and Nationality Act, INA 274A(a)(1)(A): A person (including a group of persons, business, organization, or local government) commits a federal felony when she or he: * assists an alien s/he should reasonably know is illegally in the U.S. or who lacks employment authorization, by transporting, sheltering, or assisting him or her to obtain employment, or * encourages that alien to remain in the U.S. by referring him or her to an employer or by acting as employer or agent for an employer in any way, or * knowingly assists illegal aliens due to personal convictions.

Just wondering..... I write AMERICAN because thats what I am. The U.S. Census Bureau legally allows one to put on legal form what the person chooses and believes they are. I know because I worked for the U.S. Census Bureau when I was in The U.S.A. working with the immigrants.

I don't know the laws in South America, but can you travel from one country to another down there without a passport and then demand that country to provide for you? Is it even legal? If everyone is an American why does South America consider Mexicans there without proper paperwork to be illegal, why does Mexico consider anyone who crosses it's borders without proper paper work illegal and arrest them and deport them when found, and why does Canada require everyone to have passports to enter? Canada's even on the same continent as the US and we need passports. Same in Europe, people need passports to go from one country to another even though they all live on the same continent. It's a matter of protecting your country's people and culture by knowing who is coming and going. Yes, you are correct. One generally needs a passport to pass from one country to another. But whats your point? Each state in the U.S.A. has some laws that are different that does not make one less or more a U. S. American. We need to show a membership card to enter privite gyms. Even if it is in your own town. SO WHATS YOUR POINT?

Seeing these posts on this item reinforces the that legal citizens(all races) are fed up with the ILLEGAL INTRUDERS(all races). IF the govt doesnt do something soon, the people will rise up and do it themselves. PEOPLE ARE FED UP!!!!This country has to be protected or the whole friggin world will be crawlin in here destroying the culture and financial strength the founding fathers, our soldiers and our citizens gave much for. We should SNAG'em, TAG 'em and BAG 'em - ALL of 'em! PS and also the twisted liberals who clamor to take care of 'em. Longing to care care of something? get a dog!!They dont respect the country-drive 'em out also.

North America and South America are together along with Central America as one continent. There are only 7 continents in our World and America is one of the 7. PLEASE DO NOT EMBARASS THE AMERICANS IN THE AMERICAN CONTINENT by your ignorance. If one was born in the continent of America that makes them an American. One would think a 'teacher' could spell & would proof-read prior to posting on a public forum....

Psssst...medical science HAS figured out how babies are created. There ARE ways to avoid having 5 kids you expect the taxpayers to feed.If nothing else,an aspirin held tightly between the knees is 100% effective.

I love it when someone says that people who come here from other countries without the necessary documents "chose to break the laws." I don't have kids, but it seems to me if I lived in a place where there were no opportunities for jobs, education, healthcare, not to mention proper sanitation, irrigation, clean water, and food, I'd go anywhere in the world that gave my children a better chance, "legal" or "illegal." I don't think it's a choice at all, or if it is, it's between a rock and a hard place.

that includes you too you dumb new milfordite New Milfordite wrote: LEGAL immigrants are not generally deported, so it seems to me that this particular church is aiding a criminal enterprise. What we need to do is STOP allowing anyone born here under any circumstances to automatically become a citizen, it is being abused horribly. The amendment allowing it was NOT written to support people here illegally, as it's author has clearly stated. Looking at the churches covenents is irrelevent to the law.

Meanwhile, their daughter suffers a medical problem that is easily treated here in America, but there is NO health care or medication available in their country. So they come here, illegally. How DARE they try to save the life of their child! You hypocrite..you VIPER!
No problem;YOU will pay for childs' medical treatment, then family can return back to native country.
They enter legally, on a temporary student visa. During college, they meet a woman, fall in love, get married. They keep going to immigration appointments with their lawyer, wanting to change their status to legal permanent status, hoping to one day become citizens. They have a baby during that time. "We'll have a kid-they won't DARE deport us then!"
The lawyer assures them their case is close to being finalized, and they'll have their greencard in a matter of months. Their lawyer screws up on the paperwork. They miss important paper deadlines, and court dates, because the lawyer is more interested in lining their pockets, than making an honest case for their adjustment of status. And how is it Americas' problem that they hired an incompetent attorney?
They fall out of status, and become undocumented, without EVER realizing it
Visa paperwork has clear expiration dates.
until one day ICE shows up at their door, and shatters every dream that they ever knew, and their entire sense of reality. THAT happens, just as often if not more often than the times that Jose or Pedro cross the border in the dead of night. Yet even for these, you show no compassion, or mercy. And for that, you will be judged. However, no matter what the circumstances that bring a person here, they are entitled to humane treatment. And each human being has inherant worth and dignity. I would love to have the sight to see into your life, into all the black, rotten pieces therein. The nasty things you've done, the horrible thoughts you have had. The little secrets you keep, and the little crimes you've perpetrated, and think nobody will know. And then, when all of that were exposed, i'd like to see you crumble when you realize that you had said that "Some" people do not have inherant worth and dignity. Because at that moment, I could easily hold up a mirror for you to see. And ask you.."What makes you so sure, YOU do then?". OK-YOU take this heartbreaking couple in;you will be responsible for their housing/food/educating the children, plus all medical expenses.
