There is apathy about the Bush League crimes globally, not just in America. If we could somehow get the the Hague to take up this case by raising International awareness and outrage over the topic, I certainly would feel some closure. That isn't likely, either, unfortunately.

As for Afghanistan, I have mixed feelings. I think it is probably a quagmire (Rachel describes it quite eloquently as the Graveyard of Empires). I have mixed feelings because though it is a strategic non-entity for US interests, it is also the worlds largest producer of opium. That trade is what I believe fuels the terrorist engine in addition to being a horrible scourge to millions of addicts. If we were to focus on that instead of the Taliban, we might be able to make some progress for peace in the region.

A few simple word changes to the lyrics of Country Joe and The Fish's immortal "We're All Fixin' To Die Rag" could make it appropriate for these times:

"And it's One, Two, Three, what are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a da*n, the next stop is Afghanistan"....

David Paul Brown said,
"But if prosecutions go forth of Bush lawyers or Bush administration officials, many Republicans will no doubt strike back in anger, and try to sabotage everything the Obama administration tries to get done"

It isn't many Republicans, it is ALL Republicans,
and they are already doing this anyway.

Obama does not risk alienating the Republicans.
They are already united to obstruct any and all efforts that Obama makes to improve our country.
They are not striking back, they are striking first.
The only people Obama risks alienating is the majority of good American people that voted him into office. He risks that by continuing to attempt to appease the arrogant and indifferent to the needs of working people, Republican party, whose actions are responsible for crashing our economy.

All aspects of the economic crisis, including unemployment originate in the policies, corruption, and mismanagement of the Bush Administration led Republican Party, which Our Congressman, Wally Herger, wholeheartedly supported. Mr Herger further argued in favor of the privatisation of Social Security, at the CARD Center, in Chico.
These are the facts, no matter what the backward Republican racist bigots may insist. They were wrong then, and they are wrong now. It is time for America to move forward. It is time for thinking people to move forward. This can only be done by voting Democratic, making sure your friends and family understand the issues, the truth behind them, and vote Democratic as well. It is the responsibility of all citizens to vote, and to vote all Republicans out of office. You owe it to yourself, to your community, and your children.

Frank, you should check out Clinton's latest interview. The seeds of this recession were planted then. How do you explain that the first 6 years, before the Democratic takeover of congress, were relatively good.

I explain it that it took that long for Bush to drag down our once strong Nation that he inherited from Clinton, just as the wreakage from the intentional destruction of our economy wrought by Bush is still crashing the country further.
As far as the Democratic takeover goes, I saw on the news last night how the inprecedented expansion of the Congressional fillibuster,(double from prior years) was used by the Republicans since 2006 to styme virtually all Democratic bills that the Republicans were not in agreement with.
Sorry Hound, you guys OWN the Bush economic crisis.

This is a ridiculous piece. If the author is so fired up about justice for terrorists, shouldn't his sense of right and wrong apply to all? How about waiting until Bush et al - yes, they're citizens with real rights - are convicted of crimes before calling them "crooks"?

You shouldn't be writing about legal stuff if you don't understand basic concepts like "innocent until proven guilty".

Osama Bin Laden is a terrorist in another country but this country has its share of terrorists, all who contributed to bringing down America within and probably nothing will be done to them for their deeds. And Osama is probably laughing his a/s/s/ off as some help destroy our own country.

Well O`Niel if you sit back and see just whats happened since your President (not MIne) has took office, then maybe you can write some decent article`s,over 700,000 new layoffs, signing a bill that will bankrupt this country within this year easily, has spent 350 million dollars of taxpayers money just last week alone criusing around in AF 1, had a one hour televised interview with a muslim owned network for the muslim country`s,( he hasnt done that for the American people on any TV station here ). tells the governors they better watch how they spend the stimulas money.
This man is on his way to be a dictator and you better wake up O`Neil. You are a good writer and I read your article`s, but they are allways 1 sided and about how bad Bush was.

Security screeners at Los Angeles County's 48 court buildings last year confiscated 53,302 knives, 24,783 scissors, 21,014 razors, 8,208 pairs of handcuffs and 114 stun guns -- enough to equip a small army.

and the crime is going to get higher with OBAMA at the helm

If our security was so great under the previous President why would they be confiscating all those arms? Chew on that, racist. With all that lack of security, who knows, Osama may hide out in your back yard. You both could comfort each other with your hatred.

It does, however appear that those walks will be limited to the unemployment office.

While the market for job-seekers in the United States might be sour, for most it isn't as impenetrable as it is for the nearly 3,000 former members of the Bush administration.

Between 70-75 percent who are looking for full-time work still haven't found new jobs, according to a Saturday report by the Wall St. Journal.

"That 'is much, much worse' than when Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton left the White House," Carlos M. Gutierrez, who served as Bush's commerce secretary, told the paper.

For many, the traditional refuge of conservative think tanks in Washington, D.C. has become a Fort Knox, with almost no positions available, and certainly not for lower-rung Bush officials.

The economy inherited by Bush was balanced by borrowing. Bush also inherited Osama bin Laden. If you want to blame Bush for Iraq with promises that 'Iraq will pay us back' then you are correct, which is the only reason I was opposed to the war there. But don't fall into the trap that it is all one party's, or one person's fault. That only continues the charade.....

Daily Horoscope for January 5

Aries

There is minor evil around today, whether it is harsh words or actions. Relationships with non spiritual people will tend to be abrasive, as you come to understand that such people can never be trusted, for their agenda is not love. Beware of criticism from colleagues or friends. Avoid being narrow minded and confining your views to the conventional. You may want to argue with everyone and everything, but beware of devouring your own energy in the process.
