Gore says transfer to clean energy vital for U.S.

Former Vice President Al Gore called today for a "man on the moon" effort to switch all of the nation's electricity production to wind, solar and other carbon-free sources within 10 years, a goal that he said ...

"The Alliance for Climate Protection, a bipartisan group Gore leads, put the 30-year cost of his plan -- both government and private -- at $1.5 trillion to $3 trillion."

That's a slower pace of spending than we're currently frittering away on Iraq, folks. Let's get our priorities straight.

You know I don't get Gore. I didn't vote for him in 2000 because he didn't seem to have a personality. I didn't vote for Bush either. If he'd shown his eco-friendliness a little bit more he might have gotten my vote. But I guess we all know one vote wouldn't have mattered in that election.

I wonder how much energy Gore pisses away a year on his 27,500 square foot house in TN, other residences, his private jet and big limo? Hell, the fuel his private jet alone used to transport him to and from Stockholm to pick-up the Nobel prize is greater than that of most Americans in a given year. Typical liberal: Do as I say, not as I do. F U Algore

Typical liberal? The only people that actually say things like that are ultra-conservatives and they rely on some stigma attached to the word "liberal" to make a point.

Missing the forest for the trees, are we?

If "practicing what [one] preaches" is such a virtue, Bush and McCain are the worst of the bunch when it comes to the subjects of energy independence and environmental protection.

What evidence has you seen that convinces you that there is manmade global warming?

Yep. Gore's house uses more eletricity than a small town and Bush has one of the greenest houses around using all the green tech that they could.

When it comes to the forest Gore is the one cutting the trees that Bush is Planting.

And Al Gore isn't a scientist, a physicist or an engineer. He is Chicken Little in a suit trying to run and find the King to tell him the sky is falling, when all that happened was he was hit in the head by a hanging chad.

Bush is busy making glass in the desert. The only thing he's planting that will last for future generations is a mountain of debt.

Funny how right-wingnuts rarely criticize Gore's pro-environmental message, yet they come out of the woodwork to call him a hypocrite because his carbon footprint is bigger than the rest of ours.

It's kind of tough being a global diplomat and NOT buring some carbon given the means available today. Perhaps you think he should stop traveling so much and just phone it in. That would really help get the message out.

As George Carlin said:
"There is nothing wrong with the planet. The planet if fine. Ever if there was something wrong with it how could humans have done it? We are just ants in the grand scheme of things. It's humans that are fu%#ed.

Plant Bio fuels in poor countries, & watch the indigenous people starve to death as we rape their land.... Good plan!!!

Americans are the worse in the Western World for pollution, waste & ignorance as far as the planet is concerned, whilst others in the West, for example, Great Britain pay through our noses for the rest of the Worlds ignorance. Why don't you try using a washing line instead of a tumble dryer. Buying a smaller car. Recycling your trash. Buying a water Butt. Create a compost heap. Boycott your thousands of all you can eat restaurants. Walk to work or use public transport?????? Small steps, thats all you need to make a big difference.

Yes! Right on comrad.
Some day will will all walk, talke and think the same.
I'm gratful to be living at a time like this. We can all work together to preserve our planet but there is no way that we humans can regulate temperatures of planets.
We are living longer now than at any time in human history so can we stop the panic and making our kids think they won't have grandkids because of a non-existent crisis?
It's been 25 years of predictions. Time's up.
Oil is bad for peace but I am going to face the future with optimism, not candya$$ fear mongering.

If I am a right wing nut then you must be the left wing nut. I have come out and critized Gore for all the bull he is spreading. If you are to busy ignoring reality then that isn't my fault.

"To speed up the transition to new energy sources, Gore said the single most important policy change would be to "tax what we burn, not what we earn," advocating a tax on carbon dioxide pollution."

Don't you get it? This is all about a new tax... not a sales tax, property tax or income tax, but a 'consumer tax'.

Yep. He proposes you be taxed on the air you breathe.(Or more correctly, the CO2 you exhale.)

And do you think for one second that this new tax will ever go away?

Don't be fools. Al Gore is a politician who has created a hysteria and is now looking for a way to cash into it.

In an Eskimo Village, near Anchorage Alaska the price for a gallon of gas today was $8.55ct.

The native Eskimos will have a very difficult time .For them its back to the Igloo, and sled dogs. They cannot drive their Snowmobiles,or heat a House as we know it.

Should our time come, and it may,gas at 8 to 12 $ a gal. wadda you gonna do??

What you can do his give your Senators, and Congressman hell!...they have not felt our pain yet! Along with Gore they are in a different world!

Yes, I know, Bush is a closet greenie. Probably because as the CAUSE of our current energy crisis, he has done one thing right and at least prepared for HIMSELF in advance. F*ck the rest of America.
