Expert: We must act fast on warming

Sep 24, 2008 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Kansas.com

Droughts, melting ice caps and glaciers, rising sea levels and mass extinctions will all be a reality unless the U.S. and the world cut back on carbon emissions dramatically, said James Hansen, director of ...

Thanks, Lori. But it does take a little searching to find the Hansen video on your site. For anyone interested, here is a direct link: http://community.greentv.com/kickapps/_The-Ti...

We had the coolest spring and summer for years. I guess the global cooling of the 1980s is back.

Elton John? Love?
Let's try telling our kids that they DO have a future after all and the world is NOT coming to an abrupt end because of SUV gas and plant food. Now that's love.
Love is working together to preserve, not save our planet with fear from a myth.
Peace.

"There's probably a natural reason for global warming," said Roy Spencer, a University of Alabama-Huntsville climatologist who wrote the book "Climate Confusion." ".. We will look back on it as a gigantic false alarm."

The majority of scientists side with Hansen, and believe that human actions are responsible for increases in atmospheric carbon and its effect on the Earth's climate. Those in industries that ignore the facts for their own self-interest, he said, "are guilty of crimes against humanity and nature."

So, other scientists dispute it, proving that the theory is not absolute fact. We know that already. But then look at Hansen's last statement. "Crimes against humanity and nature."

It should be obvious that Hansen is a fraud making such an unbelievable claim on a theory. It's EXACTLY the same kind of historic mantality religious fanatics in the past have used. Crime against nature? There is no such legal term, and if such a legal concept were made, it could be used by government to pass any fascist law conceivable.(Do to the massive number of insect deaths, we are executing some of your children for crimes against nature.)

Hansen is a social terrorist and should be dealt with as a criminal himself.

We do need to act fast! It is appalling how much money we actually spend on making our crap turn green. Its nice to have a clean environment, but even at our worst considering what it takes to live in today's world I don't believe our pollutants make any noticeable dent in our naturally strong earth. If our economy was soaring off the charts well sure! then we could make this world as clean as a whistle. Considering our dollars aren't worth much anymore why are we so concerned about the environment this very moment? At least we can be proud of how clean everything is while America becomes overwhelmed with foregin shoppers and tourists.

Very true. Anyone that has traveled in Mexico or other third-world country knows how polluted they are, and how much trash is all over their government-owned lands. And yet, Western countries are blamed for pollution? What a joke. Pretty soon China and India will be pumping out so much smog into the air that they won't be able to see one another ... while America moves on to electric cars or fuel cells or something. Whether GW is legit or not, we're already changing for the better, not the worse.

I for one, am very content with global warming, and the results that it has brought.

I remember two years ago, right in my driveway, I was changing the brakes on my daughters car.
It was about 6pm, and the wind chill factor was 24 degrees below zero. I could only stay outside for about 15 minutes at a time.
Seriously, if it hadn't been for global warming I can't even imagine just how much colder it would have been. RESULTS: GOOD

I remember most of this year feeling colder then usual. What sense did it make that we were in August and it was very cool in the evening. Some evenings you needed a sweater, or long sleeve shirt. We didn't have the stiffling heat we usually have. RESULTS: GOOD

Now, mark my words, I predict, some lame-brain will make some ridiculuous comment, that it is due to global warming why it was soooooooo cool this spring and summer.

I had a job to do at the EPA in Kansas City, Ks. 2 years ago. You have to go through security, and after I did, the guard stopped me and said, "you forgot your coat."

There were several people near-by, so I thanked him because it was very cold outside.
I told him that I thank God every morning for global warming, because I can't even imagine just how cold it would be otherwise.

His answer to me was,(ARE YOU READY?)
"It's because of global warming that you are freezing."

Laughingly I said, "are you nuts?"

Very seriously he repied, "It's true, let me explain it to you."

I told him not to bother, anyone who thinks I would believe I am freezing because the globe is getting warmer, is an idiot.

I hope you understand that northern Europe is much warmer than it would otherwise be based on its latitude, due to ocean currents which bring along warming winds.

I can't speak to what the man in Kansas intended to explain to you, and I haven't heard of any theories that say AGW will bring freezing winters to Kansas, but climate patterns will change as the planet warms, and it is possible that some places will be colder than they were.

Of course, others will be much hotter. This won't be an even and predictable event.

I grew up on the east coast.
I recall watching nightly news when the weather patterns were begining to shift.

It began with Farmers in Georgia and Florida who had orange orchards and other fruits. They began loosing a portion of their crops do to lower temperatures.

Each year it became more severe the the prior year.
Farmers began buying heaters to place in their fields to keep the crop viable. And the cold weather was moving gradually further south.

It became a great issue and many farmers lost their land as a result.

In that region of the country homes did not even have furnaces in them. It has all changed.

Because weather patterns change does not mean the globe is getting warmer.

The same people who have been the town cryers for Global warming, and those who spearheaded this issue, were those who in the 70's said we were embarking on a new Ice Age.

This is just more socialist thought from the political left. It's no different then Dr. Paul Erlich's book, "the Population Bomb."

The only bomb we have seen was his book and his reputation.

This is nonsense at it's best.

james hansen would rather have people forget that he spearheaded the new ice age scare of the 70's. we should all focus on his newest and better craze of the doom and gloom crowd, of global warming totally caused by man, and only he and a few chosen others can save the planet from ourselves. if and only if we listen only to them. al gores calling for all young people to resort to civil disobedience will not only test homeland secerty, but also test his social brainwashing of our children program. gore expects his gorites to begin terrorizing our towns at his beck and call any moment now. gotta love them planet savers!

Wow, you just made a valid argument AGAINST the GW theory. If it's not predictable, how the heck did it become a theory?

You Zeplin is going down in a blaze of glory, all brain cells lost.
