Judged: 1 1 1 Here's that rain you said would be so good for the crops. (Reuters)- The number of extreme rainstorms - deluges that dump 3 inches or more in a day - doubled in the U.S. Midwest over the last half-century, causing billions of dollars in flood damage in a trend climate advocates link to a rise in greenhouse gas emissions. Across the Midwest the biggest storms increased by 103 percent from 1961 through 2011, a study released by the Rocky Mountain Climate Organization and the Natural Resources Defense Council reported on Wednesday. States in the upper Midwest fared worse than those in the south part of the region, the study found, with the number of severe rainstorms rising by 203 percent in Wisconsin, 180 percent in Michigan, 160 percent in Indiana and 104 percent in Minnesota. Illinois saw an 83 percent increase in extreme storms, Missouri had 81 percent, Ohio 40 percent and Iowa 32 percent, according to the study. "The increase in extreme storms, because of the linkage to flooding, probably represents the Midwest's greatest vulnerability to climate change," said study author Stephen Saunders, president of the Rocky Mountain Climate Organization. Overall annual precipitation for the region rose 23 percent between 1961 and 2011, the study found, using data from weather stations. |

Judged: 2 2 2 Climate At A Glance http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/... Says that precipitation is up 10% for the Midwest during that time. Yes, in a warmer world there will be more rain. What's your point? Climate changes do you we can do anything about it? |

Judged: 2 2 2 I don't know if your comparisons are valid. The Rocky Mountain Climate Organization and the Natural Resources Defense Council define the Midwest differently from NOAA. NOAA does not include MO, KS, ND, SD, IO, or IL in their "Midwest". They only have "Upper Midwest", which includes your neighborhood. Looks like a case of you trying to sell apples and oranges as cranberry juice. |

Judged: 2 2 2 Yes, we already have. We can begin to reverse that change by changing our energy use. |

Judged: 3 3 2 Like that there are groups out to discreit Obama and renewable energy? Your right when you claim that there are conspiracy theories everywhere. Like when alarmist claim that someone must be in the pay of big oil when they post something you don't want to see. Or that others are spending money to kill off the electric car or wind and solar instead of admitting that they were failures or not ready for prime time. |

Judged: 3 2 2 If I'd known you were coming I'd have baked a cake. Teener is hooked on fonics cause she dint larn to reed rite. You Yanks and Westerners (and Spanglish UK ex-pats) need to understand that when the hillbilly Valley Girl Actually After All Teener says "would of" what she actually, after all, means is "would have" while mutilating the conjunction "would've". Actually. |
