As for the idea of governements making everyone equal, the only way they can make everyone equal is to make them equally poor.

The so called "trickle down" idea of economics is not a recognized economic theory. It was born in politics and has not worked. If you will follow history, you will find that it ends up with economic disaster. The role of our government is to create an atmosphere where the citizens are able prosper in an atmosphere that allows everyone to share in the freedoms and opportunities. To do so, the citizens must be protected from the greed and whims of those who have the power.
