And if they force that change on people whose religious beliefs forbid them to participate, then it is an infringement on their rights if they are forced to participate in some way, like provided a wedding venue for a same-sex couple or being forced to bake cakes for their weddings

In many cases foster care may be better than an adoptive home even if it is a mother/father home. Whether or not it is a foster home, adoptive home or biological family, kids can still be on their own after age 18. That is irrelevant. Besides, who is to say that kids are better off being with their parents after age 18. Many stay and stay and never learn how to be fully functioning independent adults.

Marriage is not a ceremony. It is not vows. It is not two people living together even if they do so until one person or the other dies. The definition of marriage is "the union of of a man and a woman who make a permanent and exclusive commitment to each other of the type that is naturally (inherently) fulfilled by bearing and rearing children together. The spouses seal (consummate) and renew their union by conjugal acts--acts that constitute the behavioral part of the process of reproduction, thus uniting them as a reproductive unit." Whether or not children results, the reproductive unit is complete.
Exclusive means sex with nobody else. Period. Yes, I know that people "cheat," but they begin their union with the vow "forsaking all others."
Conjugal means two parts (one from each spouse) coming together to make one whole, something that two men or two women absolutely cannot do.
