More lies. You just can NOT deal with reality, can you?? I guess that comes with being a practicing Catholic, doesn't it?

Get back with us when you support stoning to death women that attempt to get married when they're no longer virgins. God was pretty clear about that, too. I think it's supposed to be done on her father's doorstep so that he can be shamed by her sins.

Good stuff, that Bible of yours. It's way fun to pick and choose the good parts and ignore the rest, isn't it?

And if you are suggesting that people will be persuaded to throw out their faith just because two men and two women can legally pretend to be married, then you are completely mistaken.
"Legally Pretend"? There's no "pretend" you sanctimonious POS, it's Married whether you and your ilk recognize it or not.

Did you "choose" to be heterosexual? I didn't; I just always have been. As far back as I can remember, I found the female gender to be attractive--all the way back to when I was in Kindergarten. I could no more "decide" to find men attractive than you could. So why do you think a gay man could "decide" to find women attractive if he wanted to? Given the abuse that they take by ignorant people everywhere, what possible motivation could they have to voluntarily "choose" to be attracted to their own gender? I don't disagree that your religion considers homosexuality to be perverted, but last time I checked, laws weren't supposed to be based on an "establishment of religion". Care to guess where I read that? Hint: It's a document that religious radicals claim to support, at least until it no longer agrees with their position to do so.

Sure, each state can define marriage, but if they do it outside of what the majority of the people want, the issue will not be settled. And if they force that change on people whose religious beliefs forbid them to participate, then it is an infringement on their rights if they are forced to participate in some way, like provided a wedding venue for a same-sex couple or being forced to bake cakes for their weddings
Why do you waste so much time worrying about things that will never happen? Do you really believe a gay couple would want to have their wedding cake baked by "Aunt Polly's We Hate Faggots Bakery" or get married by "Pastor You're Going to Burn in Hell O'Reilly"??? Seriously??

The lawsuits you're referring to are over public accommodations, not religious liberties. If the church wishes to discriminate and not rent to certain types of people they hate and fear, they'll have to stop renting to EVERYONE or they'll have to spin it off into a taxable entity. Easy peasy.

But they, like you, don't want to deal in reality and treat people fairly. You want to be able to hate and punish people you don't like AND get a tax break for it. Sorry!!

Sadly, most of the hate-mongers have already figured that out. That's why they continue to pass unconstitutional bans on personal freedoms, even after court after court has thrown them all out. They don't CARE that they'll ultimately fail.

They'll just keep on lying and lying and throwing as many roadblocks in the way of marriage equality as they can in the name of their religion. You know--the one they claim to be the most loving and accepting of all?? Yeah. That one. That's the one they keep lying and hurting people to prove it's so loving and wonderful. Amazing, isn't it?

The law may be changed in some states, but that doesn't change the fact that millions of Americans recognize that the traditional definition of marriage is the one that still stands in their minds. Even in the states where the law has been changed, it is clearly apparent that millions of the citizens in those states still believe that marriage is one man and one woman. They have simply had their own state government foist a new definition on them.
And millions of Americans disagree with you, so your point is moot.

Whoever said anyone has to "throw out their faith" over anything??? If you don't want to accept same-sex couples as being married, don't! How easy is that?!? But you do NOT have the right to force your personal beliefs about what YOU believe marriage is onto others. You just don't. So why do you keep trying to convince us that you do?

Yeah, but their actions don't go unnoticed. I know you've seen the articles about how Religious Service attendance is declining, yet these people can't seem to figure out why. They are going to eventually Bigot themselves out of Business, and good riddance.

People that cling to the totally irrational and indefensible belief that people can "choose" their sexuality are latent bisexuals that hate the part of themselves that is attracted to their own gender. People like you and me that aren't bisexual know better, don't we?

It's sad, really, that they believe themselves to be so horrible that they're willing to crusade to harm others to support their own self-hatred, isn't it? That goodness fewer and fewer people are falling for that line of crap....

Don't get so carried away that you forget that what I said was in response to the statement "A collision with religious liberty is unavoidable." It wasn't necessarily about churches.
So that means that a business owner could also refuse to serve a divorced person, based on his/her religious beliefs?

those kids who are adopted have family, the ones in foster care generally have no one. It must be awful lining in your skin with no compassion nor realization that humans need a family regardless of its structure.

Thankfully most parents genetic or adopters have a heart and common sense. One can only hope you are childless.
Snickers wrote:
<quoted text>
In many cases foster care may be better than an adoptive home even if it is a mother/father home. Whether or not it is a foster home, adoptive home or biological family, kids can still be on their own after age 18. That is irrelevant. Besides, who is to say that kids are better off being with their parents after age 18. Many stay and stay and never learn how to be fully functioning independent adults.

True. Religious bigotry and hatred *requires* followers to be completely blind to the wants and needs of others. It's all about forcing people into a preconceived mold, regardless of whether or not that's right for them. Or right for *anyone*, for that matter.

More and more people of ALL faiths are leaving their established organizations for the same reason--they don't want to put up with the hate. They still firmly believe in their religious beliefs, but they don't want the blind hate and forcing it onto others.

I wonder how they can continue to justify hating on the gays because the Bible tells them so, when they completely ignore tens of thousands of other commands like the ones regarding divorce and stoning disobedient children???

1.Letting gay couples get married redefines marriage.
http://www.theologymatters.com/
Marriage is not a ceremony. It is not vows. It is not two people living together even if they do so until one person or the other dies. The definition of marriage is "the union of of a man and a woman who make a permanent and exclusive commitment to each other of the type that is naturally (inherently) fulfilled by bearing and rearing children together. The spouses seal (consummate) and renew their union by conjugal acts--acts that constitute the behavioral part of the process of reproduction, thus uniting them as a reproductive unit." Whether or not children results, the reproductive unit is complete.
Exclusive means sex with nobody else. Period. Yes, I know that people "cheat," but they begin their union with the vow "forsaking all others."
Conjugal means two parts (one from each spouse) coming together to make one whole, something that two men or two women absolutely cannot do.
Oh that comment is so wrong in so many diffrent levels.

I know how, they justify it because it reiterates their own homophobic beliefs.

I pity them, I really do. Y'see my family when I was growing up wasn't particularly religious but Mom and Dad's parents had been, so I got to hear all about what horrible creatures Gays were, how they want to "get you" and all the awful monstrous things they were. Then as I got a little older I got scared because I knew inside that I WAS gay, I was horrified at the "monster" I was supposed to be, finally the realization came, I'm just fine, I'm not a monstrous being that they claimed gays were(of course they didn't say gay, they used the F word and homo, but you get the point) and If they were wrong about THAT, what else were they wrong about? That's how I learned to think for myself. Ol' "snickers" hasn't had that experience, he's still got the blinders on and is not only drinking the kool-aid, he's making it for others as well.

Marriage between a man and a woman is unique and special - a p*nis inside a v*gina with love.

That's the best imitation of the "religious" homophobes' argument I can do.
