But I am still puzzling over the whole discussion. After all, if one cannot even state with absolute precision what it is that one means by "homosexuality," how on earth can one ever determine its status according to ANY set of laws, "natural" or otherwise?
Is it a feeling? A thought? Is it a living arrangement? Is it a sex act? Is it simply non-procreative sex?
I honestly don't know what the original poster had in mind, and I think even a novice could argue pretty convincingly that it makes little or no sense to place any of the above uniquely under the rubric of "homosexuality".
I'd love to have a reasoned and intelligent discussion with the poster about any of this but as you point out, that doesn't seem all that likely.
You're right, this isn't a logically structured forum. But just as homosexuality is a state of mind which results in actions, particularly the sex act, there is a state of mind that is against the very idea of homosexuality.....just because.

Since there are always people who are different there will also be people who dislike, fear or are suspicious of that difference. This is more a reflection of human nature than anything else. IMO

it IS a civil right for someone to marry the person whom they love. It may not be enshrined in US or Australian federal law yet, but it IS a civil right. There is no reason to deny this right, just as there was no reason to deny freedom, the right to vote or the right to a fair trial to *anyone*

Say what we will about ol' Lucy Natural Law-less, he has provided us with a very long and unexpectedly lively thread.

More than that, he caused many of us to think ... probably not in the way he wished, but a good outcome attained doesn't rely on the intentions of a source to justify itself.

My! Such a hissy!

"The gay", me, thinks that "the straight", assumably you, isn't smart enough to rise above throwing school yard taunts.

The rest of us grew up. Time you did the same.

They are keeping their infants clean, the equivalent of changing a diaper and cleaning the home. That's the advantage of opposable thumbs.

No kidding.

I had no idea.

Funny they ban the Constitution at their public rallies but it's the only think keeping those fools alive when they decide to come out of their basements when everyone around them would like to see them beaten into an oil stain.

The Klan, the Aryan Nations and the rest of those groups truly anger me. My grandfather died in WWII fighting those asshat Nazis as I'm sure everyone in here has a similar connection so it blows my mind some lost pimple faced white loser would pick up their march in a free America.

And this gay thing. I'm not gay and just the idea for me is more far off than having me identify the 6 major components of the soil of Mars but why do those people choose to come in here only to blaze out a singular line of ignorant thought against them without listening? I've proven to be no better, especially when discussing gay parades, but I really think some of these asshats want to not only rewrite history to please them but change the makeup of our country to appease Benny Hinn followers and lead us to think their spin on freedoms, beliefs and facts should be followed despite all the evidence against it.

Let's assume it's wrong for two adults of the same gender to have sex.--Just for this post. Okay. I just find it kinda disturbing that people who feel this way spend so much time and energy trying to make their point, and convert people to their point of view.

What's the goal here? That we start throwing gays and lesbians in jail because they have broken the "natural law"? Or do we just want to make it morally acceptable to despise them?

I'll admit that if I try to imagine "gay sex" it can make me a little uncomfortable. So I don't imagine it. There are some straight couples I know that I wouldn't want to imagine either. But just because something might make me uncomfortable, doesn't make it wrong or unnatural. I believe something is wrong if it hurts someone else.

But bottom line, why so much energy on insisting someone else's way of life is wrong? Is it possible it's just your own feelings of discomfort coming you're trying to get rid of? How bout you simply don't have sex with anyone of your own sex since you don't want to, and just go about your day in peace?

Good question.

Maybe fear of the "other" or the "different" is the cause of their extremism.

well, sex is not always about reproduction
I know some 'faiths' think every sperm is sacred etc
but let's face it, if the US average of 2.5 kids (guess) is any indication, let's say, I hope you have sex more than 3 times in your life.
alone or not etc.

Reproduction is overrated in this discussion I think, though I am against gay marriage - for those 2.5 times we hit the jackpot as such, marriage should be a goal for a couple.

Today's world talks about many lifestyles, so marriage is getting marginalized anyways.

The population in the US is 307 million and the world population is nearing 7 billion. No, reproduction is not the issue, nor is it a requirement for heterosexual marriage or a goal for that matter.

With the 50%+ divorce rate, heterosexual marriage is neither sacred or a special status. It's more like the flip of a coin, heads you win and tails you lose.

The only problem I see in your post is the overused term "lifestyle." Gays do not practice a particular style....like the rest of us. They love whom they love and more power to them...or should I say equal rights to them? Yes, I like the latter better.

Agreed, I've no idea what it's like to be gay. I also have no idea what it's like to left handed, my brother is and I've tried to write leftie style. I doesn't work.....for me.
I can't create music like Mozart or paint like Rembrandt. I'll just have to settle for what I can do. I can still appreciate music and are, my brother is free to use his dominant hand....and gays are free to love whom they please.
It really isn't any harder than that.
Well,

You have more credence than myself for being in here.

You son or a family member is gay if I remember right.

Me - I did this nonsense from work to break up phone calls and had a blast so I really have no business in this place to begin with albeit I do have honest opinion.

We butted heads a number of times. Apparently my caustic writing style is the same. I've been for and against gays depending on the situation. I hate gay parades by the way. You undoubtedly know me from that under who knows what goofy moiker I picked but if you want to get serious I doubt any of these gay bashers would have the huevos to talk their nonsense to an educated public. Including their employers, in-laws or anyone else living in functual society.

These gay basher that have this constant drumbeat aganist gays whether it be religious or the fact they can't get a date for next years prom have some real issues.

Despite all my rants against gays and usage of inflammitory nonsense against them in gay parades they are just another segement of American society who prefers to collect coins when I feel my bottle collection is more precious. Who freakin' cares?

If it all boils down - truth be known gay bashers can kiss my ass. Who activly thinks of who is taking who to the movies?

OK....starting to rant. Tomorrow is Monday so I need to get ready so I'm not dressing in the dark with consequences...LOL!!!!
