Gay marriage? You'll see flying manatees first

Among the many critical selections voters must make in November, Amendment 2 certainly is not one of them.

"They condemn gays for promiscuity. Then they condemn them for wanting to settle down." They condemn them-Period. How Christian. How ignorant.

"But when you look at various measures of child welfare in the 50 states, we rank near the BOTTOM while states with liberal gay-adoption laws are at the top."

That one lines says VOLUMES about the ignorance that continues to prevail Florida. Sad, but undeniably true.

here's a thought.

In order to build stroger marriages why don't the Florida4Marriage wackos fight for a constitutional ammendment BANNING DIVORCE.

If you want children to be raised by a mother and a father then ban divorce.

Why not ban divorce? It makes as much sense as banning gay marriage... None! This is another issue that needs to be handled personally by religion if they so choose to enforce it, and not government.

You don't think so don't try.

It doesn't matter what you say or what you won't, GBLT Civil Rights are not up to you, not your business, and are completely out of your control.

Civil Rights never have and never will come through public votes or majority opinion.

I suggest people read up on what Coretta Scott King had to say about GLBT Civil Rights. She was a real Civil Rights leader.

Don't be fool by so-called votes in certain States. The coming new USSC will instantly with the stroke of the pen on the USA Constitution null and void all that bigotry.

You are an idiot. But you do make a good point, "there is no case here". This is pointless and stupid, and I for one am glad I get to vote on one more stupid amendment. Remember though, you same idiots that want this wanted to go against math logic and call 60% a majority, but not 51%.

Another moronic "marriage is for procreation" comment? Yes, idiot, marriage is just for procreation. So, all you post-menopausal women will now be banned from marrying. Ditto for you infertile men and women. Condoms and birth control pills will now join heroin and cocaine as controlled substances.

If "Whoooaaaaa" is the "voice of reason" then I am a monkey's uncle.

And what is "the voice of reason?" What is the legal point of this amendment? Please tell me and everyone else, because only you and the Oldyankeetransplants4marriage seem to know it.

It's election time again and the Republican Party wants to get out the Religious-Right vote. What do they do? They play the Gay Card. Folks, it's politics, pure-and-simple, from the people who brought you two terms of the Bush administration.

This is so lame. It seems like every major election some "group" manages to put some "emotional" or "religious" issue on the ballot to influence the turn-out of particular voters. Considering that same-sex marriage has been perfectly legal in several other places for some time, and that none of these places have been swallowed by a black hole or burst into flame, I think it's safe to vote "No" and tell these bigots to keep their personal views out of our ballots and our state's constitution.

Nope.

The word "marriage" can refer to the union of any two entities - including businesses. It has nothing intrinsically to do with white wedding gowns, bridesmaids, a best man, a wedding cake, etc etc.

I wish people would understand that words like this have far broader meanings, not just one meaning carved in stone for all eternity.

I think the word you want, which DOES refer to choosing someone to be the mother of a child, is 'matrimony.'

There actually is a big difference between 'marriage' and 'holy matrimony.'

Once again, learn what these words actually mean, and once we can make up our minds what we're actually talking about here, we just might make some headway.

Gays are free to marry in every County in Florida right now, and always have been. No one can stop them from the Religious ceremony. There is separation of Church and State.
If there were not, you would see public schools forcing kids to study the Bible or the Koran!

Civil Rights are coming for all GLBT people, and votes of public are not relevant to anything because the USSC will null and void bigoted votes.

Try and think if Americans voted in 1960 on Civil Rights for blacks. Would the majority have wanted black people to have the same equal rights? Of course not. There was a Federal Law prohibiting blacks and whites from getting married!

Bigots have lost every battle in the history of America, are losing this one, and will lose future battles to come. GLBT will have full Civil Rights like it or not, and we won't even have to go Stonewall in every City and town to get them either!

Don't give me the BS about gay Civil Rights not being like Black Civil Rights either because they are very similar or CORETTA SCOTT KING would not have compared GLBT Civil Rights to the Black Civil Rights movement!

If you are in a Church where some loon preacher is telling you GLBT is a sin, take your money to another Church.

I really hope this doesn't pass. I've been courting a dolphin at SeaWorld's Discovery Cove. We would really like to marry one day and a further ban on gay marriage would hurt our chances. Some people are really harsh about our relationship and not understanding. I really hope things change.
