Did the Chick-fil-A Boycott Backfire?

Aug 6, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: EDGE

After thousands of people turned out to support Chick-fil-A and marriage equality on the Mike Huckabee created Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day, many media outlets are calling the boycott on the fast-food chain a failure.

In my eyes, not one bit and not remotely. I wrote a longer post explaining why; I would doubtless get some sort of flak and I literally *don't have the time*.

I understand various points in the article but to me, the *point* of a boycott is what's being missed. You won't change anyone; you're standing up for an ideal -- so long as you actually do stand up for it.

No matter *what* came of this, the very act of the boycott *itself* was a success, and nothing afterward takes that away. The very point is that you *cannot* take that away. Everything I'm reading about what happened afterward is meaningless, to me. Immaterial.

Not to mention the "health" value of the place in question (the part that makes me laugh out loud).

This is an expected response from the uneducated. This is why this country is going down the craphole. But Gay marriage will be a reality in the U.S.A its inevitable. Spew all the hate you want…it's coming and you can't do anything to prevent it.

They're never getting my money nor are they getting money from the several hundred non-gay people I work with or their families.
Is that a success? It is to me.

Yes, the boycott was a failure. Had it stopped with the boycott, the point would have been made. The mayors of New York and Chicago, by trying to prohibit Chick-Fil-A from doing business in their cities, turned it into a legitimate free speech issue. Live and learn. I still don't spend my gay money at businesses that support hate groups.

This country has been going down for years.Thats why we are so far behind other country's who have approved gay marriages and now Vietnam is going to permit same sex marriage. As long as people keep letting these right wing brainless idiots brainwashing them nothing in this country will change

Oh, I am SURE there was plenty of "backfire" as those creaky old geezers returned home after shoving down gobs of fried dough and deep fat fried chicken parts. I would have HATED to have been in some of those cars as the poor old dears began to LET GO!!!!

Maybe for ONCE the stick most of them have up their asses may have blown free by the copious amounts of chicken reeking farts.

Usual response from a redneck….By the way I am married to him loving every minute of it. Love the FUDGEPACKING, give it a try to your MAMA one day when she comes in from the barn.

If you were a TRUE Christian, instead of shoving down all that food yourself, you should have taken some big orders to homeless shelters or to an inner city school or somewhere that could have USED that food, unlike most of the tubbos I saw in the photos. Now THAT would have made a POSITIVE statement, in fact, would have been admirable and useful and CHRISTIAN. I could have respected that.

Instead, you ignore the bible and all went over there to shove it down yourselves. Jesus weeps at your SELFISHNESS.

There not Christians, I don't know what religion they are but its a new branch like Bachman religion it's ugly. It's odd that they think name calling would work..in fact it only overstates the obvious..THEY CANNOT RESPOND WITH AN INTELLIGENT ANSWER. Which makes me by far better then him.

Yeah, so I come back, skim the thread, and see a few people (Juanpaul, KirkW, the spot-on Curteese) saying things I can relate to, and whatever else I skimmed seems to be the same old.

I have been loving how the whole chick-fil-a thing went down. I wish that stuff were happening more frequently. I think it should've been from the beginning.

In the war over gay rights, the pro-gay are against people who are acting upon a "moral imperative" (so they believe), and therefore DON'T CARE WHAT THEY LOSE, or whether they lose at all; they simply care about fighting nonstop. This tipped me off, as early as 2009 or so: The pro-gay should be evidencing the same attitude. When I see them doing so, I begin to cheer.

My views could change. This is how I currently see it.(I'm beginning to have a very small bit of sympathy for the antigay because they do appear to be in a miserable panic. I've also come to believe they don't believe one damn word they're saying. I believe they have trapped themselves and "can't back down now" and while that's as despicable as it ever was, I have occasional glimmers of sympathy at this point.)

I wonder if gay rights skirmishes were god-sent to show everyone who the true christians are. By anyone's estimation in terms of those skirmishes, such a horribly small percentage of people are *true* christians that it's (I am not kidding) profoundly saddening.

So many "christians" are so, so, so much more motivated by vicious hatred than by any compassion. Give them an objective to help others, and they slump into self-involved boredom. Give them a target to hate, and they become energized like ... like ... like satanists, rather than actual christians.

The boycott was a failure because they all are. Remember 1 million moms boycott of JCPenney?
Also, most Chick Fil A's are in southern redneck states where people probably don't even accept that blacks have rights yet.
Go figure.

The anti-Christian, anti-patriot agenda has taken a beating and we are only getting started.

You had the leftist audacity to think that you would silence Chick-fil-a but in reality you made them richer and read they plan to soon sell frozen in supermarkets and I dare you to utter a gay peep about that, they will sell off the shelves.

You have not even tasted the political wrath of the sleeping giant you have awaken.

Gays suck. But that's besides the point.
Here's something that is at least interesting.
.

1. Why does Obama have a Connecticut Social Security Number?

2. Why does Obama look like his mother's communist college professor Frank Marshall Davis?

3. How did Obama's grandmother die 8 days before the 2008 election?

4. How did Obama get half his Chicago estate from convicted felon Tony Rezco for free?

5. Why hasn't MF Global CEO Jon Corzine been charged with a crime after "misplacing" 3 billion dollars?

6. Why did White House advisor Valerie Jarret stop Obama from killing Bin Laden 3 times?

7. Where is Obama's mistress, Vera Baker
