Bigotry under the guise of piety. I'm sure you're equally vigilant against usurers and Onanists.

I think people should live their life they way they want to, as long as they dont hurt anyone. I believe in civil unions, but if you want to marry, go ahead. Do you believe the bible was written by man? If you do, religion was made to control people, a pastor told me this. I also dont think that homosexuality is natural completly.

The scriptures can and have been used to justify genocide, slavery, apartheid, segregation, crusades, inquisitions, to persecute Jews including support of the Third Reich and the Holocaust, to oppose medical science and inter-racial marriage, to execute witches, and to support the KKK, as well as other actions now rejected even by most conservative religious leaders and communities. They are currently being used to rationalize prejudice and justify discrimination in a wide variety of ways against gay people. When religious beliefs are used to justify torture, imprisonment, and even suicide/homicide bombing, the abuse of power by those who claim the authority of God should be clear. History has proven authoritarian religious organizations will violate and annihilate others in the name of saving them. We should have learned this by now.

dirtydiamond wrote: Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 Acts 3:19 simple The verses you cite were addressing pagan fertility rituals and cleanliness codes. They had nothing to do with adult relationships based on mutual love and respect. And yet you make no attempt to follow all of the other verses of Leviticus, including these: Leviticus 19:18: You shall not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you shall love your neighbor as yourself: I am the LORD. Leviticus 19:34: But the stranger that dwells with you shall be to you as one born among you, and you shall love him as yourself; for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God. But no matter what anyone thinks the bible says, and there is plenty of disagreement, it should not be used as an authority for writing and interpreting the law. The authority for laws in the US is the constitution, which says everyone is equal under the law. The founding fathers were well aware of the abuses inflicted by religious control, and that is why they established us as a constitutional representative democracy with separation of powers, including checks and balances on those powers. They avoided a direct democracy precisely because they were well aware that majorities would restrict the equality of minorities, often based on religious beliefs not shared by all. Using someone's interpretation of the bible to support laws that deny equal rights undermines the constitutional guarantees of liberty and equality upon which our government was founded. While the bible says many things, it also tells you to treat others the way you want to be treated and to leave the judgement to God. But please understand that if you continue to spread those harmful beliefs, they will continue to result in pain and suffering in a wide variety of ways including bullying, beatings, torture, imprisonment, and death. When you spread those beliefs, you promote hate and harm throughout the world instead of the love Jesus intended. Matthew 7:12: So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets. John 13:34: A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

Ok you're being contradictory; you're telling me to spread the love of Jesus while at the same time telling me that when I spread my belief(which I believe in Christ as well) is to spread hate.. You can't make the bible fit your lifestyle, it doesn't work that way. Matthew 7:12, well you can link this verse with Matthew 22:37-40. John 13:34, read what the verse is saying. If someone is in the midst of sin you let them know, thats love!

I agree with you that "Transsexual woman are,for the most part, straight women;not gay men." My fiancee was trans and we were together for more than 10 years.

If someone is in the midst of sin you let them know, thats love! No, it isn't obvious those verses were talking about adult relationships. Pagan fertility rituals included young prostitutes and slaves who were not adults. Nor were they relationships based on mutual love and respect. Pagan ritual orgies were not based on mutual love and respect. And do you even attempt to follow all of Leviticus? No contradiction. Spreading the love of Jesus does not include spreading your belief we should use the law to harm gay people. Jesus never told you to sit in judgement, and love only those who pass your judgement. He told you to love everyone as he loved you. You are trying to make the bible fit your prejudice,(though you are far from alone on that one). While there are only a few verses that are commonly misinterpreted to condemn love between adults of the same sex, there are many that tell you to love others and leave the judgement to God. Those verses do not include using the law to stigmatize and dehumanize others. Matthew 7:1: "Do not judge, or you too will be judged. Luke 6:37: "Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. James 4:11 Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it. Romans 14:13 Therefore let us stop passing judgment on one another. Instead, make up your mind not to put any stumbling block or obstacle in your brother's way.

I guess if someone were attracted to children it would be to since Jesus said love everyone(and everything according to you)huh? The verses aren't hard to misinterpret. I reiterate, you can not make the bible wrap around your lifestyle, it doesn't work that way!
