Who knows how many attempts were summarily dismissed before they could come to trial. And I am not your "dear" and never will be to any man.

If one doesn't believe in any religion, one can justify nearly anything. If one wants to call himself a Christian, one best better live by the Bible's standards.

Not very much and I also question whether he is as anti-gay as he would like his supporters to believe. he is being very low key and for a good reason. He is trying to look anti-gay to the religious right while trying to look non-threatening to gay interests. Papa Bush claimed to be an apostle of Christian values, yet he appointed homosexual judge Walker who overturned Prop 8 in California. Reagan also made secretive promises to the religious right in order not to offend others which he never followed up on. I take anything said by a politician with a grain of salt. Most (if not all) talk out of both sides of their respective mouths and lie out of both sides at the same time.

I'm not sure, but I believe the Ocean Grove incident had to do with rental of a hall, not refusal to marry. And the Catholic one is not worthy, since you provide no details on which to check. Please try to at least bolster yout argument by giving some substance, otherwise it is nothing but hot air.

It was not a church, it was a beach pavilion which the church that owned it rented to the public. Period. The actual church building was miles away. They rented the pavilion to the public, therefore they have to follow state laws governing such commerce. This is common knowledge to all but the uninformed or those too lazy to look into it further than listening to and believing the offensive remarks of the poor, persecuted wingnut christians.

Tecnically yes, but it still was a suit against a church organization. Like I said, how many suits that were summarily dismissed as frivolous never even saw the light of day? There is nothing ominous in that proposed bill, so why worry about it?

A referendum should be introduced in the legislature to tax religious organizations. If that happens you'll see how quickly religion leaves this country. They're only here for the money.

Our entire legal system rests on "technicalities" and being able to discern differences. Otherwise a killing in self defense would be punished the same as a premeditated homicide. And I'm quite sure that if there were law suits that were summarily dismissed, the fundamentalists would have publicized them far and wide by now, to show how persecuted the poor christians are in this country. But the only example they ever hold up is this Ocean Grove pavilion... And I tend to agree with you on the proposed bill - I really don't see much ominous in there either, and believe it is redundant. However, you do realize that it would serve to further invalidate one of the biggest arguments of the religious reich when they spout off against marriage equality...(the bill was proposed by Mark Leno, who is one of the biggest marriage equality supporters in the state).

The Camp Meeting Association wasn't sued, they had a complaint filed against them in the state's Human Rights Commission for denial of use of a pavilion which was owned by the Association for strictly recreational purposes. You're going to have to provide a link to the story about a Catholic Church almost being sued for refusing to rent out facilities, I haven't heard of it and can't find any story even remotely similar. By the way, I'll call you dear, honey, buttercup, cupcake or whatever in the heck I want, there is nothing you can do but learn to cope, lambchop.

The summarily dismissed lawsuits are going to be hard to track and find as they would receive no publicity to speak of and I seriously doubt every such dismissed suit would ever make it to the internet. As you pointed out, it is being pushed by an ardent supporter of gay marriage in order to preclude the possibility of such a frivolous suit and causing one to become an unnecessarily inconvenienced defendant. The bill, if it became law, would serve notice to those who want to force others to violate their philosophical or religious views not to even think about launching such a lawsuit.

I misspoke in my previous post. It should read: to deny that is the written word of God is to deny an important part of what Jesus taught.
