Judged: 2 2 2 Actually, I think the act is a timid, cowardly one. It says that the administration of the university is afraid that their students and their views cannot stand up to debate. I am not surprised at Liberty’s actions though. Their fear for their students is justified. Young people, with their openness, confidence, and curiosity are naturally drawn to liberal positions. Rather than fearing or hating a Muslim, a homosexual, or an immigrant they are more likely to engage with them, and may change from the experience. In contrast, conservatism is a timid philosophy of the fearful Conservatives see boogey men everywhere. Liberals see the possibilities in action and embrace it while conservatives see the risks and shrink back to the familiar. By action I mean real new, initiatives. Fear reactions don’t count as progress. Older people, like the university’s administration are more fearful and suspicious of anything new, so there is a trend towards conservatism as people age, but the students at Liberty are vulnerable. I understand why the university did what they did and liberal universities don’t need to. |

Judged: 1 So why don't you stand up for gay people and let them get married? Why let the 'bad' Christians try to get same-sex marriage banned? |

This brief discussion is VERY pertinent to the topic. Give it a listen. It's well worth the minutes.

I think LU will be liberal in a few more years. Right now it is moderate and that's a stretch. The only schools that started out with strong convictions and academics were the Ivy Leauge schools.(Look at the now). I know that Wake Forrest is Southern Baptist as Baylor and Duke has a Divinity School.

Anyone ever really look into the Falwell bunch...last I heard the family wasn't exactly ever socially acceptable anyway. Old Jerry, aka snake oil salesman, just found another way to make a buck off of the gullible. It's a shame he had to bring his faux morals to Lynchburg.
