As if pretending to be married would make this less confusing....are we supposed to believe that Miss Robinson is the father of her child also?

It doesn't matter who the "biological" father is, if she has stepped up to take responsibility for the child.

Gay people aren't pretending to be married. They ARE married, and your unwillingness to recognize that is pointless.

You cheapen parenthood with that comment.

Right on! The only confusion here is gender confusion.

This article is probably nothing more than a gay lobby ruse to pave the way for impending dialogue in advance of the introduction of a bill to legalize gay marriage.

Better to have 2 Mom's than have a single Mom and a deadbeat Father like many of our children have these days!
Good for Ms. Robinson for stepping up and taking responsibility for her child!

It matters a great deal who the 'father' is. That's what paternity suits are all about. While Ms. Robinson may decide to adopt the child in the future, that is the only way she'll ever have any legal position concerning the child. Even if they were 'married' she would never be seen as the father in a court of law.'Father' actually means something, not just the acquiring of respnsibilties.

Actually No, it doesn't. Paternity suits are in cases in which the person who IS responsible isn't stepping up or is attempting to deny responsibility. This is NOT the case here.

No one is stepping up to help this child - they created this child for their own amusement. Poor kid.

if the argument goes any two people who love each other should have a right to get married or Love Makes A Family, why stop at the magic number of 2? what's special about that. Why would hay or lesbian couples not want to recognize a group marriage of random genders and/or preferences? If "they" think 2 is sacred, why bash folks who consider only a Man with a Woman as sacred? Bottom line, we make distinctions, all of us. Do we extend what 97% think is sacred to the other 3?(yep, that's right folks, this 10% gay population number is a myth... its 2 or 4% maybe)

hmm... first off, who cares if it's 10% or not? Are you really that obsessed that you take informal polls everywhere you go?'That's right folks'... really? You know something we don't? Do tell.

If two grown people want to get married (or whatever you want to call it) why do you care so much if they are of the same sex or not? Why does it concern you?

When you get into 'sacred' talk, that kind of makes me think of religion. And as you should know, we are protected from religious laws being forced upon the masses. If the church wants to involve itself in private lives, they should start paying taxes and stop molesting our children. Just a thought.

Not one gay person I know wants to do away with straight marriage. Nor do they 'bash' that right. In fact, some are so deluded and in love they actually want to get hitched and be a part of that 'sacred' act. How does that detract from marriage exactly?

And why am I not out drinking? Oh well.

no polls, just a quick google to the right places.
You say "If two grown people want to get married (or whatever you want to call it) why do you care "

Why not "If three grown people want to get married (or whatever you want to call it) why do you care "

what about 4 or 5?

you limit to 2 and expect straights to accept that orientation is not relevant... yet you set limits.

Polygamists could argue 3 or 6 is a valid number, and orientation should be relevant or irrelevant or whatever argument they give. How is that different from your argument that any given 2 people should have a "right" to get married vs "any 2 people of the opposite sex".

Other than arguing why your position is "reasoned" all you can do is demand that folks you disagree with defend "why not?" You've given no reasons for, you've offered no reason why just 2

You wanna let two men or two women get legally married?

Then why not a man and a boy?

How about a man and a sheep?

Or a woman and a dog?

Or hey - I know! How about a father and his daughter? Or a mother and her son? Or an aunt and her brother-in-law?

You want same-sex marriage to be legal, why not legalize these other marriages too? After all, what's right and fine for heterosexuals is right and fine for EVERYBODY, isn't it?

There are REASONS why perversion is against the law, folks!

yes.

A boy cannot consent to marry.

Incest is defined by the State laws.
Jose Jiminez wrote:

If they are both divorced they CAN marry.

So throwing "strawman" arguments proves nothing but your stupidity.

There is nothing perverted or illegal about it, it simply isn't recognized yet.
