Trumpet the Mormon Church's Work Against It//

Full story: The Oregonian 60
As more states take up the debate on same-sex marriage, some advocates of legalization are taking a very specific lesson from California, where the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dominated both fundraising and door-knocking to pass a ballot initiative that barred such unions. This is all about power and money. They want a morman president someday. They also are richer than god. Their real weakness is their utter superstition that passes as theology, and their ruthlessness that borders on bullying. They are under investigation, I understand, for pushing their children too hard in the recruitment propaganda. Many have committed suicide. So, ultimately this kind of crime will catch up with them. Yes, they are not happily in bed with the catholics, but what will happen when both collapse?

I don't know. We already have a Head dog in the Senate (Harry Reid) and he's an idiot.

They were also very vociferous about claiming that they would "meet any challenges," or so it was said, to the claims that they were *not* observing separation of church and state.

I made several vociferous comments of my own in various threads here *against* them in that matter, and I am still waiting for various Mormon individuals to answer me. Perhaps they realize that I *WILL NOT* back down on this matter and will tell them *EXACTLY* what I think of them. They goddamn better, that's for sure.

First, try to disguise the fact that your post is *trolling someone* who is patently and obviously standing behind their opinion 100.0%.

Thanks for reading.

I realize what threw me off about that post, directly above. Same old thing. Same old thing humanity has done -- probably -- since the dawn of time and will do until the end of time.

Once people learn a psychological paradigm,*they conclude that it adheres in all cases*.

You conclude, so it appears, that ANYONE who "appears vociferous" online is a "toughie" who "wouldn't dare say" the same things in person. In other words, as is so common on the internet, you make a string of assumptions that are unsupportable or based in any given "typical case" -- WHICH REVEALS that you make them *for self-serving purposes*, not in order to be objective.

I can't always identify *instantly* what is wrong with a post I read, but I can almost always do it within a few seconds; thanks for reading.

Let me see if I understand--(because after reading all three of your posts I still am not sure I understand what you are saying--but I'm not sure it's your problem or mine)--are you saying that because I answered your harsh post with a harsh one of my own I shouldn't answer because I am self serving?

No comprende, there, mi amigo.

Let's try it again. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. I would be glad to answer any question you have, political, religious, with or without spice, it doesn't matter. Have at me.

Wow, you got all that out of this comment:
"OK toughie, go for it. Whuttup?"

Yes, someone is making assumptions and I don't think its humor me here.

But you're not "forcing your view" upon anyone in this thread. You *haven't* made any statement such as, "Gay = sin." It's their anti-gay stance that I am talking about, and that anyone pro-gay is talking about. Were you to make those statements and then attempt to *viciously fight others* and deny them the same god-given rights everyone else has ... THAT'S what I'm talking about.

I stand as firmly by my convictions as you do yours -- but I don't know how you'd "act" about these matters; you actually seem pleasant.

Yes, I *DID* get that out of the previous post. You thought I might be "cowed" into saying I didn't? Let me repeat *LOUD AND CLEAR* that it was a *GREAT* assumption based on typical human behavior.

Never mind that he *seems* a nice guy in the post since. I have no concern for what YOU think of what I'm saying.

Because *pure logic* suggests that *had I been correct*, he would have opened the door for me to make assumptions *just like he had*-- which I did, as YOU yourself have pointed out -- and that *had I been incorrect*, it was within MY right to make an assumption whether I retracted it or not. I happen to be the type to retract them.

I am not, however, the type of "back down" because you use faulty logic in a *TYPICAL INTERNET ATTEMPT* to "one-up" me despite my having had grave, grave reason to speak as I did.

So please, next time, think before you do just as *you accused ME* of doing -- which is another way of saying, Perhaps we *do* have reason to make presumptions of the worst elements of human nature, if only we admit when we are wrong.

Let's see if you can.

I mean, my god, if it's true and "humor me here" is as low-key and relatively kind as he seems, who could have any objection? I certainly wouldn't. He worded his reply with extreme politeness, more than I showed.

Well, let me surprise you once again:

Look up "It was long before adolescence that I knew" in topix. I told this young man he should post his story about his gay-ness and how touched I was by it.

But please don't misunderstand me.

I am still pro Prop 8. Solidly, and immovable.

BUT I am not anti person. ANY person. Every person is of infinite worth. Acceptance is not negotiable. It is required that I accept EVERYONE by my Savior. And I CAN love people while hating sin.

And it takes strength to do that.

Really I just wanted to point out your assumption that humor me here was making assumptions.

I do make it a habit to try and follow the advice you have offered, but thank you anyway.

You are welcome! A lot of people here are nasty, and I am sure deep down they know that *NNNNNNOTHING* but *nothing* but *nothing* is going to change my views. I think it frightens people who have a "faith-based belief" -- that nothing you say or do has the slightest power to move me in any way, shape or form. Why? Huge irony: I am basing my belief on *precepts of love and compassion* for others. And there is no way in heaven or hell I believe that that compassion precludes denying gay people the right to marry and the right to full societal equality.

I don't know...I think we all do, to some extent, don't you? If I have a thought, a way I do things I think will stand up to strutiny, and I guet on a silly thread like this, I know I'm blowing my own trumpet. Aren't you doing the same?
