We'll have to bail them out then. We can't leave them in jail. We also need to get them more mainstream media coverage so we can give the impression to the public that our movement is a GLBT vs. WBC war. Anyone who's against us will risk being lumped in with the WBC. The religious fundies have used this same tactic for centuries.

The word was that they were turned back at the border the last time they tried to take the travelling freakshow of hate to our neighbors to the north, something about not wanting our toxic wastes, or the fear that we wouldn't take them back if we let 'em out. The WBC did claim that they had managed to sneak some of their followers in for an indoor protest, but the evidence they released for that one was far from convincing, so Canadian border security may be just a little bit better than our own. They can plan another Canadian adventure, but I really doubt that they are going to be able to pull one off. Canada has an UN-WELCOME mat already rolled out for them, the pity is we can't do the same.

How sad that we know Canada will take care of a problem that in this country is ignored and in some places glorified. Shame on the US in 2008 for being so damned closed minded.

Absolutely right. Last time, their bus was turned-back at the border. They claimed to have a couple of smaller groups trying to move across, like terrorists, in stealth mode... but no such squad ever surfaced.

I suspect that they were inadvertently trampled to death by a herd of fair-minded moose.

Hate speech against any group defined in the Canadian Charter of Human Rights it's a crime. Therefore if they do that they will end up in Jail... But Canada won't let them enter to the country anyway.

I thought Fred was exposed as having rest stop sex with men back in the 1970's. What a bitter self-loathing person he must be. He really needs to get laid.

I smile whenever they go out like this, because then I point them out to my anti-gay friends and say "That's what you look like."

Hopefully they will find themselves when in this country, if they can in fact get in.
I left the US because Phelps is only the extreme tip of a dungheap of similar-minded troglodyte barbarians. Their politics made it impossible for me to stay due to being in a multi-national relationship.

It remains to be seen what will happen when church members attempt to enter Canada, says Shakila Manzoor, the local communications manager for Canada Border Services.
Manzoor says cases are dealt with on a case-by-case basis depending on what information is presented to border guards.
"Officers determine if a person is here to incite hatred," she says, "and if they're here for that, they can be turned back."

How ironic that Phelps plans to protest a play that includes him as a character -- they will be dramatizing his intolerance inside the theatre while he is carrying on outside.

I never heard he had a rest stop scandal, but there was talk of his son hanging out in some prime cruising grounds in their hometown.

Hey Marc... can you keep me you to date on this story... I think we started this last week when we called the RCMP to get the scoop on this trip into Canada.

The Mounties were polite, but they did not say much and I got the feeling they did not have a clue what we were talking about..however they did turn us over to VPD and Canada Customs... who did not seem to have all that much to say on the story either, but seemed to know all about this trip.

I'd really like to cover the outcome though.
