I read this story elsewhere. I think he will win his case. He wasn't nude according to what I read.

It reminds me of a case just a few years ago where a woman in Manhattan was arrested for being bare-breasted in public. The police arrested her because they said she was breaking the law by being in public with her breasts uncovered.

But in the early 80's the New York Court Of Appeals ruled that such laws were unconstitutional, and that women had the right to be bare-breasted in public, just as men are allowed to. The Manhattan D.A.'s office refused to prosecute the woman.

But that wasn't the end of it. She sued the city for the illegal arrest, and was awarded $ 25,000.

Such attire should be illegal only for straight, middle-aged, overweight French Canadians who overrun the Maine beaches every summer.

While reading the news article I got the glaring impression that police anti-hispanic racism was the reason he was singled out and harassed by the police
.
A full federal investigation of the police department should take place to clean out homophobia; corruption; and racial profiling
.
He was dressed better than the cops were ;o))

His attire is much like a lot of the other outfits, so, yeah... he was singled out for something. Tsk tsk.

i'm sorry to report this kind of behavior is what spoils peoples opinions of gay folks. there's no reason, other than wanting to rile people up, for SOME gays to try to be so "in your face". look at newsclips about gay pride parades, all they show is the flamboyant "flamers", not normal looking, normal acting gays. most staight people don't try to flaunt and force there sexuality on gay folks, and the ones that do are generally thought of as dumbasses, so please don't try to force your sexuality on us. we don't want to see it, just like we don't want to watch mixed sex couples kissing and groping one another in public. it's something for behind closed doors.

Yeah, right. He was no more-scantily clad than the average cheer leader at a football game. You straights have been shoving heterosexuality down our throats. If you don't want to see gay guys decked out for a celebration, stay away from pride celebrations.

Further, there should be a height/weight allowance for spandex.

Spandex is a privilege, not a right.

I agree. And as a devout church-going Protestant what I find equally disgusting are those shameless Catholics that parade down the street on St. Patrick's Day and try to shove their Roman Catholicism down the throats of God-fearing Protestants like myself !

I don't mind Catholics but why do they have to flaunt it ?! Let them keep thier Roman catholicism behind close doors where decent American Protesants don't have it shoved in their faces everyday. My German Lutheran ancestors didn't flee Europe just to have the disgusting Roman Catholic lifestyle constantly paraded in front of them. DISGUSTING !

1. You're a liar and comically stupid, what with all your high school proms and horny reality TV and romantic comedies and high school proms and engagement announcements. Looks pretty flaunted to me.

2. As for you not wanting to "see it," you're out of luck, Jethro. Move to Iran if you don't want to be aware of variations in sexual orientation. You crakkker.

They're not too bright. Perhaps they thought the kilt was a Muslim thing...and so did what NYC cops do - arrest the infidel.

Interesting comment. I have said in the past that a lot of exposure of bare flesh either turns heads or churns stomachs.

Isn't it interesting when "straight" men repeatedly seek out gay forums to post on.
What could it possibly mean?

Anyone with a nice body like that should be welcomed out in public! I've seen statues with less clothing!

It's not the gay community's fault that people are so shallow, judgmental, narrow minded, and stereotyping. I think it's very unfair that we are all judged based on a few but when heterosexuals do something out of the ordinary all straights are judged harshly. It's a double standard and I don't think we should have to feel guilty or have to correct other gay people's behavior just because there are many straights who are ignorant, hateful, labeling, stereotyping, and judgmental (prejudice). People with that mentality are the same type of people who are racists and sexists and condemn religious minorities or say all Muslims, blacks, and Jews are a certain way. People who come to the wrong conclusions and judge people are the ones who are wrong not the guy wearing a thong. America seems to have more of a hang up about thongs and nudity anyway, not other countries. Maybe this country appears weird to the rest of the world. What about women that wear thongs? No one seems to make a big deal about until a man does it. How gender discriminatory is that?! No one seems to complain about mixed sex couples giving a kiss on the cheek in public but when a same sex couple does it everyone acts like it's live pornography. People need to grow up!

Correction: I think it's very unfair that we are all judged based on a few but when heterosexuals do something out of the ordinary all straights are NOT judged harshly for it like gays are.

Please don't judge the gay community based what an individual or individuals does. Everyone should be judged based on their own actions. An entire class of people should not be judged. So if women wear bikinis does that make them all sluts? I don't think so!

Are you not shoving heterosexuality down our throats right now? Are you not judging us as an entire community? I'm not flamboyant, in your face, but I won't put up with our community being demonized based on a few people. If people are that ignorant enough not to like me based on what SOMEONE ELSE does or they don't like me because I'm gay I really don't want people like that to like or associate with me. Their opinion doesn't matter to me and they can't make me feel any way I don't want to feel. I consider myself above trash like bigots.
