Interesting article but probably should do a little more research before releasing it to the public. A few years ago Stanford had a reputation as one of the best fire departments in the state(volunteer or paid). There were 30 or more volunteers serving our city! They made personal sacrifices to protect us. They were well trained, professional acting men that were treated unfairly when they questioned decisions and voiced concerns over outdated equipment. Several were "fired" and even escorted out of the fire station by the police. Others left because of the issues within the department. Talk to the people that served for years on the department. Find the true reasons that the fire department has shrunk to 15 members.

Why is some people always trying to say they are not treated right or they are invisible? How stupid. Can't you speak up for yourself instead of hiding behind a computer screen??

When I was still teaching, the firemen came to school to speak with our students about fire safety. I recall them saying they were "30 members strong". I thought that was amazing to get 30 men to volunteer for such a dangerous job. I commend all of the past and current volunteers for their community service.
