Pain pill epidemic takes its toll on Tennessee

I cant understand why Senator grassley is demanding that all those on Pain pills be sent to pain clinics when all this does is cost more money he is griping about all the money spent on presrips and all they want to do is put patients on more expensive meds and treatments. More expensive meds to get people hooked on and the paient suffers not the doctors cause medicaid and madicare pay for all this new treatments. I think they should check and see if the person has been in domestic violence, rape, or violent crimes. If not and the meds they are on leave alone if it is helping. Some of these new meds are bad for causing OD's. or do they not care?

All of these family members need to stop blaming everyone and anyone for the actions of their relatives!..no one, no doctors or clinics, held a gun to their heads and said take 20 of these right now!!!..you need to realize it was your loved one who pulled the trigger.

Really, donestoopid? So because our loved one has some or even all the responsibility in their own demise, we are supposed to just shut up? It speaks volumes that you have a problem with holding drug dealers accountable! I guess you missed the part about 2 innocent children living in a trailer with a bunch of drug dealers, that the authorities refuse to protect. Do you blame them for their situation as well? Did it ever occur to you that JJJ might be trying to make a difference in he or she's community? Or maybe JJJ is trying to save the lives of 2 innocent children that the community has turned it's back on? Most people, who have lived through a loved ones addiction, are acutly aware of whose fault it is. And futhermore, if you don't believe doctors and clinics that are doling out massive amounts of pain pills to any and every one with cash in hand, you have lost your mind. I have watched so many innocent people, who suffer an injury or illness, become addicts because some quack doctor decides to over medicate them with unnecessary amounts of pain pills. Educate yourself stoopid! It could be one of your kids these monsters infect next.

I am writing to in a way support the people that are on these addictive drugs. I was taking a medication and went to a psycholigist and she told me if I dint take zannax, she would see that I would not get the medicine I had been on that helped me. I just quit taking the Zannax on my own, and I got so sick I couldnt sleep or eat I shook and was so weak I couldnt walk to my bathroom by myself. The physcholist told me when I called her, that I just had the flu and my pharmacist told me I had plain and simply withdrawal and it would take so long for it to get out of my system and that a doctor would not leave a patient to get themselves off something like that it could have been deadly.. I am thankful I got off it just wish a doctor had help. The junk they give you to get off pain pills and strong drugs is more danderous than the drugs. So, most of the patients taht are in true pain are damed if they do and damned if they don't and I dont think it is right. They are sending people on pain pills to pain clinics and those doctors are anesthesiologists that got a licence or permit to be a pain consultant. They want to try shots in the back or neck and they are dangerous and can paralyse or can be deadly. They are putting them on pain pills,(opana) along with oxycodone or morphine as a break through to help that is stupid. Get them dependant on other stronger more expensive pills that some dont want but have to take because if the pain consultant discharges them cause they dont wont more pills then their family doctor discharges them to. This is crazy. These people that are seriously in pain need help but from thrie doctor not an anesthesiologist, that knows nothing about them. Some are in bad pain but anymore cant get help without taking these strong meds. Some of them cant help the pain they are in. They dont wont to go thru withdrawal either. IT isnt funny. Doctors shouldnt be allowed to tell people you either take this or.... They need help and an advocate. God bless them , some of them are scared to death.

There's no honest way to say that I entirely understand the previous six posts. So,....I'll say this. Last April 6 th. the surgeons fused the last three vertabrae together in my lower back with pins and screws. "OUCH...?"....you bet. They gave me morphine for three days and then off to re-hab and onto Lortab-10. It'll soon be a year but the point is, I'm not "stuck" on anything. I had a great neuro-surgeon, some great therapists, a great wife and The Good Lord. I know,..some aren't so fortunate but the dope heads should look in the mirror and.....UP!!!

The problem with the pain pills is not going to a neurosurgeon for treatment, but tothe pain consulttants, which are not neuro nothings, they are anesthesiologists with a certificate in pain management. They want to stick needles in your spine that are danerous and can cause paralysis, or worse. They wont send you to a neurosurgeon. That would be find if the neurosugeon is board certified. Who wants some one that justs puts you to sleep to mess with the nerves in your neck or back. That is a very touch y area and paralysis doesnt seem to mind where or who these quacks mess up on. The doctors stick you on too much medication and most people never ask is it habit forming or do you have a hard time getting off it? The pain consultants want to put you on stronger more expensive meds that as we were told yesterday that these pain doctors dont how to dose it in safe doses. It is dangerous to. They wont just leave you on what you were taken even when it helps. It is you do what I say or you do without and you can die from withdrawal from some of these meds, and the ones they want to put you on is even worse. We need sme advocates for these people that fight to help them get off these things or leave alone what helps, cause methadone is worse than any of the opiads, or other pain fighters. They need something besides just an either their way or the highway. If you dont do what they want and they discharge you due to that then your doctor or regular doctor, will drop you with nothing thus withdrawal. If it kills you so sorry they dont care. That isnt right. It's wrong. IT IS WRONG!!!!!!It is not me taking them. They need to have to work them off of these pills one pinch at a time. It wont work any other way!!!!!

Do you take the Loritab-10s? If so then you are stuck on the Loritab10's... I pray to God that you nolonger take anything at all. If they would send patients to a neurosurgeon that would make a large difference. There are so many with no insurance, they resort to street drugs or what ever they can get to ease the pain, but some wind up dead from an overdose. Or just as bad stuck on street drugs, The doctors could make such a difference if they really cared. Most just dont they wont to control people's life. It has gooten til almost everything we do is controled by the government, doctors, or what we are led to be professionals but arent. First, I sure agree with you about the government ruling over us. We've got to vote correctly. However, I can't really understand your sense of addiction to Lortab 10. For approximately, off and on, 6 months I did take it when I foolishly strained my back but never did I feel like I was addicted to it. But no, I no longer take Lortab 10 but with degenerative arthritis in the colder weather, I have considered it a few times!!! Come on springtime!!!!!! LOL

Congratulations on no Loritab 10s that is great. I try to use jusy tylenol x strength. I feel sorry for those that are addicted to any kind of pills. I used bloodpressure pills for 10 years and all at once I was taken off them and it nearly got me. Then they put me on zannax , I didnt even know what it was this was back in the late 80s and I was on them for a coule of years and I told my doctor I wanted off them. She just let me quit this put me totally put me inn bed so weak that I couldnt walk from one room to another and didnt sleep for 4 days. I will not if I can help it take something like that and I always ask in front of someone else is this habit forming? Bless your heart sorry for the pain and hope you never have to take anything else.
