Just face it, we don't have enough police officers to clean up this mess with drugs, if the goverment would stop giving them a welfare check and food stamps amd give our officers a little better pay and hire more they might get the job done.

Prescription drug abuse is rampant in this area. It isn't a just the folks on welfare checks. It's our hard working brother, our good christian neighbor, our best friends, our children...etc. I've seen entire shifts of young fast food employees pilled up out of their minds at work. Coal miners who'd rather sniff a painer and go bed than take a shower. Mothers choose their addictions over their children.

It's not an issue with the lack of police. It's us. The huge number of us that are doing the drugs, selling the drugs, watching as our best friends are destroying themselves while we keep our mouths shut, encouraging it, or feeding them the pills ourselves. It's our lack of self control. It's our ignorance. It's our apathy. When is the last time you called the police on your cousin for selling? When is the last time you called the police because your dad was buying? When was the last time you called the police on your best friend because she was so screwed up on some xanax and oxy's that she was passed out on the couch while her babies were starving and filthy, crying and sick? When's the last time you even asked someone to stop?

Sure, maybe there is an issue with policing this diseased community, but isn't that what we always do? Blame someone else? The police aren't going to magically appear when we start screwing up. We need to help the police out, let 'em know what we know. We need to start helping ourselves out.

it's easy to blame welfare and foodstamps but the sad truth is i know people who work and make big money that go to pill mills. it's not just a "poor " person problem. there are pill users and sellers in every walk of life. the solution is not law enforcement but better education of our children and more places in this area for those who need help kicking the addiction.

beleave it or not but pain addiction has nothing to do with being weak,it is the hardest one thing a person has every tried to do,,someone who has never been addicted to them or anything like that can say that but it is very hard to kick the addiction of pain meds,,and it is very hard to do with out some good help,,the best help is encouragement of family or friends,no one wants to help a dope head they just want to put you down all the time and they think it is the worst thing anyone can do but when you admit you need help that your are doing it no one wants to help you but while your doing it they want to put you down the whole time you are soits a loose loose situation

They are weak to get addicted in the first place.

To get addicted one must use more pain medication than prescribed.

To use more pain medicine that prescribed to you is being weak.

People want to escape reality and get high because their life sucks. Instead they should make changes in their life and not escape through using pain pills or any other mind altering substance for that matter.

That is weakness.

I agree with you! Most of them doesn't even need the pain meds at all! They start taking them just to get high and to have that feeling.I believe that is why it is so hard for them to kick the habit. They don't see they are doing anything wrong because it is something they want to do!Most people are selfish and only care about themselves! If only they knew the pain their loved ones go through just because of their addictions(MAYBE)they would have a different outcome on life but I seriously doubt it!I don't see how they don't notice that pills bring them down more until they hit rock bottom or they OD.That isn't a good life to live so why would people want to choose it?It doesn't make sense to me!I'm not trying to down anyone by my post. These are cold hard facts and if anyone is offended by this, they should be offended by their lifestyles.Don't get mad at those who speak the truth, get mad at yourself and try to better your life!People who are addicted usually take advice from loved ones as criticizing, hateful, and mean just because it's going against what they want to do.How can you help people like that? You cant...They have to want to get help and that is where the WILL POWER comes in.There are family members who try to help out but you can only help out so much.If they are adults, people can't force them to get help. Then the loved ones get tired of watching them kill themselves and try to avoid it all together.A lot of them cry themselves asleep at night worrying about whether or not the addicted one is going to OD overnight, pray that they will make the right decisions, and try everything they can to stop it!The only advice I have to give is that if you are addicted then you know you have a problem,so go get help before it is too late.I know most of your family members would be happy to help you get your life straight. If not, then you can do it on your own, just sign yourself in.Your life is worth way more than you think it is!

One more thing.Once you get help, choose your friends wisely. Those who do it in front of you after knowing you are trying to better your life, pressure you into to buying or taking them again,or even talking about pills in front of you period are not your friends! Those are people who either want your money, want you to start back so you will share with them,or to get you to be in the "circle" with them again so they won't be alone in what they are doing.I know it can be hard of letting go of"so called friends" after knowing them for years but you need yo do what is best for you and your family!Try to encourage them to quit and see how long they hang around!!!

I think the hardest thing anyone goes through is the loss of a loved one!!!Not getting over a pill addiction! How do you think the people who love the ones who OD feel? The ones who are addicted run around high and happy most of the time not giving a crap unless they run out of pills for a couple days!In my opinion,I think the people who suffer the most are the family members. When you come off pills, you get the sh*ts,crave the addiction, and might have a few other problems but that is nothing compared to living without the ones you love and crying yourself asleep every night!!!It's not called putting you down,it's called honesty, tough love and a slap back into reality!People need to suck it up and do the right thing!Sometimes it takes that to make someone realize and most of the time that doesn't even work.I have never been addicted to pills nor do I ever want to be but that doesn't keep me from knowing what kind of affect it has on people and what it can do to your life.

Are you trying to say you can't get pills unless you go to a doctor? Are you serious? You can by pills from at least 35% of the people (that aren't doctors) you run into on a daily basis.

All you have to do is claim a back injury to get pain pills.

That is how many people have got addicted.

Some people actually needed the medicine but started OVER medicating and became addicted.

NOBODY who uses their medicine AS PRESCRIBED becomes addicted.

You HAVE to over use to become addicted.

Fact.
