No relief in sight as drought parches the Plains

I started building one of these about 5 years ago. I have the material. So I'm trying to set one up today (Monday July 23).

So once I get it set up, we should have a nice rain by Thursday.(Just a coincidence that a 30% chance of rain is forecasted for Thursday.

If it doesn't work, I will need a rattlesnake.

I heard from old timers that 20 big boobed topless girls dancing in a circle at sundown would bring rain within 36 hours. None could remember whether it rained, but they remembered the girls. What could it hurt to try? Any volunteers willing to sacrifice and save us all?

I fully believe that. Also, as we are praying, we need to thank God for the rain we will be receiving. Faith believing prayer and thanksgiving is what we need.

Grab onto your shorts. The ripple is just starting on this drought. We most likely will not see the dust bowl again as farmers are so much better stewards of the soil now with low and minimum tillage. From history, wet and dry periods tend to run in multi year cycles. The ripple will continue in the grocery stores. Corn is headed toward $10 and beans into the high teens. Meat production will slow with higher feed prices. We have gluttonly used a third of our corn for fuel in the times of feast and now must pay for it in times of famine. Grab your azz as it is most likely going to get worse. We can only live beyond our means on credit for just so long.
