Again, leftist Democrats block the will of the people. New Mexicans are overwhelmingly in support of re-instating the death penalty, yet the obstructionist Democrat majority in the New Mexico legislature have taken it upon themselves to insist that they know what's best for us. Another reason to vote to remove Democrats from the legislature at every opportunity. Murderers and rapists have waived their right to live in polite society. Reason to vote Democrat No.6: 6. "I vote Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive."

So if you were married, had kids and they were raped and murdered or if it was your wife you would feel good that the rapist/murderer got all those benefits of prison life? An eye for an eye, an arm for arm and life for life, they deserve what they gave and if one murders that person should not be allowed to live, kill them swiftly and quickly or torture them to death.

And no one will miss the jerk of a thousand names plus. Don't you have any life at all, no family, no hobby, anything other than sitting at your computer day and night replying to postings? Must be very lonely and boring all alone in your room at the mental prison.

These folks have no clue as to humanity and ciivilization. They would take our society back to killing and torture for their own satisfaction. A pathetic bunch of "christian" murders with no progress in their minds. Thank goodness our Legislature is smarter, more progressive and civilized then these fools.

So if your family members were raped, tortured and murdered you have no problem with the preps being kept alive and well in prison? I am so happy for you but if a member of my family were raped, tortured and murdered I would want the same treatment to the felon who did it to them. It is just punishment and closure to the victims family. It is not to warn others what might happen to them, that is the problem here, to many think that by putting one felon to death it warns others, it is not so, it is giving closure to the family of the victim and ends any further victims being attacked. The waste of tax money for years of appeals is part of the problem. BUT I can only agree to a quick sentence IF there is proof beyond a doubt, DNA, video pictures or still pictures of it happening etc.

Then I suggest that each and every one of you "progressives" to put your money where your ideology is, and welcome a rapist or murderer into your own home, and take on the full responsibility for they're actions, as well as their financial support.

Wonder who voted those "leftist Democrats" possibly other same minded voters? Reason to vote Repuglican't No. 6 " I vote republican because I'm concerned about keeping babies from being aborted so we can kill them later in life and somehow justify it."

Actually, we do take responsibility: Our taxes pay for their incarceration in an appropriate facility.

Of course initial instinct or emotion driven decisions would compell most people to choose death to those who harm their loved ones. But that is why we live in a CIVILIZED nation. As to your last torture, eye for an eye thing, after saying or doing what you suggest what makes you different from those people? Sad and sadistic personality disorder!

There certainly is an international trend to abolish the death penalty, with Australia, New Zealand, most of Europe and many countries in Africa and South America having done so. Israel abolished the death penalty in 1954 and, considering what was done to Jewish people in the Nazi Holocaust, their decision not to kill people as a form of punishment is understandable. Notwithstanding the fact that there are Israeli hardliners, as there are in every culture, who want to reinstate the death penalty, the fact that they banned capital punishment 59 years ago, despite the horrific crimes that had been committed by the Nazi's against their people, speaks volumes about the character of the Israeli people. But, when I look at the violent crimes and crime rates in the USA and here in NM, I am not persuaded that we are ready to abolish the death penalty. While all the Catholics in my family are strongly opposed to it, I find it profoundly hypocritical that some of the most vocal advocates for the death penalty are evangelist Christians.

I am also uncomfortable with the fact that any country or state in the USA that keeps the death penalty also retains membership in a shrinking list of countries that do so, including Iran, Pakistan, China and North Korea.

In some cases the murderer's brain is just plain wired wrong and they cannot comprehend any sort of ethical behavior and obviously don't practice it. In those cases where it is proven the murderer is pathologically impaired the death penalty should be justified. That is why a special jury should decide punishment, not the one who found the accused guilty. This separates the decision of guilt or innocence from the penalty. The penalty jury should not be aware of any of the information used in deciding innocence or guilt, just the fact that the person was found guilty and base their decision on facts presented to them.

Sad and sadistic personality disorder! Nope, not a sad sadistic personality disorder. You hit me, I hit you back, you pick up a rock and hit me, I will pick up a rock and hit you back but harder. My reasoning comes from being the Jewish religion, that was what was taught us. The problem today is our court system and many on juries don't get it, Oh we can't put him to death even if he killed another or several others. Why do you think defense lawyers ask as one of the first questions, are you for or against the death penalty? If your for it you won't serve on that jury. And it is not government killing, it is PUNISHING THE PERP for what he or she did to others. And you and your kind will never change my mind on that nor anyone else who believes in the death sentence.

It will take courage to reinstate the DP, and the cowards we have in the legislature are not up to the task of the people's business. We can change that this coming Nov if we have the ganas.
