After they were given a 10 year tax abatement, a large donation was entered into the babylon townhall re election war chest of a certain individual. The amount of the donation far staggers the amount contributed to this individual for the past ten years, go figure.
The same group opening this "shopping center" owned the one out east in Riverhead. After the tax abatement was exhausted they started shutting down the operation to what it resembles now, sadly a ghost town. Did they need to destroy the land for this profitable conspiracy ? Some of the original construction also is faltering and appears to be substandard. Just go walk around those estetic columns some fly by night contractor installed, there crumbling and cracking.
What kind of constuction are they doing in Tangers? Yellow and orange stores and an appearance that resembles cartoon structures.
I guess they will be adding alot of drapes and curtains to cover cracks and structural flaws in the walls as time goes by. Who is inspecting the construction work from local and county government? Peter Pan, Tinker Bell or Mickey Mouse?
I had hear they received a 20 year tax abatement, could be wrong, but that is what I originally heard.

You are so right about the whole scandal though, this town was sold down the river by our caring politicians. The town received NOTHING. Please don't get me started on their paltry donation to education. I believe it was a whopping 250K over 10 years, wow!! That should really make a difference. All that our schools need and that is the best deal the big wigs could fanagle?

I fully believe that this will ultimately be a disaster for our area. The traffic situation was never addressed and never will be. The town meetings they had were a joke, the deals were done long before the first meeting. That was all just PR for the politicians, making the locals think their concerns were being heard. YEAH!!

The residents are the ones who should see the tax reductions, but do we? NO!! With all the industry and business in DP why are our taxes so high? Let me tell you why. The politicians think that DP is a lower class, less educated and sophisticated town so they can simply pull the wool over everyone's eyes because we are all just too dull to figure out that we deserve better. None of the politicians give a hoot about DP, even the ones who come to the schools and proclaim otherwise. Put your money where your mouth is if you care so much. Between taxes, gangs(which no one is doing anything about), the economy and now this stupid outlet, the politicians are running our town into the ground.

Worst part, THEY DON'T CARE!!

One of the stores going in is the Christmas trre shops and they say they are opening in the later part of the year, but haven't a definite date. I guess it's a wait and see. As for Tanger Riverhead, at one point 30% of their stores were empty. I spoke to the managers of 2 of them when they were having their going out of business sales. They said they were leaving because of Tanger management. Apparently, they raised the rent an obscene amount so their started leaving as the leases expired. It may have something to do with the lapsing of the tax abatement.

I would really appreciate any type feed back . Thanking you !
Hi,
Woodbury commons is bigger and better high end stores. Also if you are coming from Manhattan it's closer to go to Westchester.
Happy Shopping!

I've only been to the Pottery Barn in the Riverhead Outlets. It's pretty big, and combined with Williams Sonoma.

I checked out the website and found obvious errors in the directions to Tanger. I emailed the mall director from the site and gave the following information.

... "The directions your website gives are clearly wrong in the distances. No section of the trip from the Sagtikos exit is 3 miles as is stated in your site. Each leg of the trip is ONE mile or LESS as I have shown you in the directions I obtained from Google maps.

Driving directions to Grand Blvd from Sagtikos Pkwy Via Pine Aire Dr

1.9 mi – about 4 mins

1. Head west on Pine Aire Dr toward N Thompson Dr 0.6 mi
2. Turn left at Corbin Ave 0.7 mi
3. Turn right at Grand Blvd 0.6 mi

By looking at your map and reading your directions one would be led to believe that Tanger is almost 9 miles from the Sagtikos when in fact it is less then 3 miles.

Your website states:
"Proceed approximately 3 MILES on Pine Aire Drive West to Corbin Ave. Make a Left turn heading South onto Corbin Ave. Proceed approximately 3 MILES on COBRIN Ave. South to Grand Blvd. Make Right turn onto Grand Blvd. heading West. Proceed approximately 3 MILES West on Grand Blvd."

If I were coming from the west, I would look at that and say, "Why should I travel an extra 9 miles and backtrack? I'll just exit the Long Island Expressway at Deer Park Ave or Commack Road and save an extra 9 miles!" That is exactly what the residents of Dix Hills and Deer Park were concerned about. The developers promised the residents that visitors would be directed to arrive via the Sagtikos Parkway. With the obvious mistakes on your website, your directions will be ignored and most people will choose to use Deer Park Avenue or Commack Road. These roads are already heavily trafficked and you should change your website to include the correct mileage.

Please consider your neighbors and try to keep the traffic off of Deer Park Avenue and Commack Road by correcting your website to reflect the correct mileage. Thank You." ...

Everyone that is concerned about traffic in our neighborhood should do the same. It won't be long before Deer Park Avenue or Commack Road become even more congested then they already are. Tanger people promised us, at the meetings, that they would encourage visitors to travel via the Sagtikos. Why would they when they are led to believe that it is 9 miles out of their way? Tell Tanger to correct the directions with the correct mileage. It is less then 3 miles from the Sagtikos not 9!

I shop at Palisades Center. Only one hour from
Long Island - it is the second largest mall in the
USA. It is closer to there than Riverhead from
Nassau County.

Riverhead is already forgotten. No one goes there, the tax abatement is expired. The vacancy rates are getting higher. Tanger is a REIT. Profit is falsely boosted by lack of tax payout. Will be boosted by ten year tax break in Deer Park. Riverhead goes bye bye
How can you think that employment is better from one town to the other on Long Island it's just as bad on the island in general from town to town

Yep, it will do more harm than good.

Traffic'll be a killer on weekends. Not to mention the added crime.

Save for the Gov. which will be happy as a clam with its additional taxes.

There will be a "SOFT" opening on the 23rd of OCT. Only some stores will open, while the rest are still being finished. The movie theatre is supposed to have $2.00 movies for a week

Wrong, its opening this weekend! Duh!

That outlet will never open. There is going to be a major panic recession due to gas prices. Nearly everyone can tighten the belt for a year until they see where this is going. The brakes are already on in Riverhead.
