Boise pilot dead in Tennessee plane crash

Authorities say 48-year-old Ward Severts rented the single-engine plane at the Olive Branch, Miss., airport.

Ward Severts was an outstanding man with an unblemished record of service to his family, his church, and his country. He will be sorely missed by all.

Ward was my brother-in-law, a true hero as an airforce F-15E fighter pilot with an outstanding record, including an award of valor. He was a great father and loved my sister very much. Life will not be the same without him. I, myself, will never forget him, will always love him, and Wards children and wife have a great deal of love and support around them. We mourn his loss, and look forward to seeing him again. Ward is in our prayers, and I know Ward will be watching over his children from above. I'm proud he was my brother-in-law! S.Simpson
