Do you have links to some of those "dozens" of polls? Make sure they're recent and not "slanted" like the first one I posted. What does wikipedia say about the 38 states currenly not issuing ss marriage licenses??????

The point is if you are going to quote the 1st Amendment, you should actually quote what's in the Amendment. If you want to discuss interpretations of it, then terms like "separate but equal" and "meddling" are fine. "Your dumb as a rock" - now that is priceless!

AFAIK, this would violate the First Amendment and I personally would not support it. Maybe not the best example but is is a taste of what to expect: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ocean_Grove,_New...

Not quite right... Congress shall make no law respecting 'an establishment' of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; It's really time for you to take a class on the constitution. You have no idea what it says and certainly what it stands for.....

You mean the same states where nearly all voted to disallow ss marriage between 2004-2006? This is why I've been using the word "recent" regarding these polls. In 10 years public opinion has gone from a large majority against to a small majority for. It's really only a matter of time until the US joins other industrialized nations in the 21st century and leaves the dark ages behind.

Well, let me tell you that 'recently' 32 states now have amendments defining marriage is between one man and one woman....

Within the next 10 years that will have changed, especially since other states are already allowing same sex marriage. Most likely a SCOTUS ruling will render those state amendments null and void.

This isn't quite the same thing since, by reading the wiki page, the Boardwalk Pavilion has received public funds for repairs and allows other performances outside of religious activities to perform there. This would normally qualify it as a public place and therefore has to follow laws regarding discrimination. It would be more similar to a concert hall than a church building.

Well, I did say it wasn't perfect, but it describes the plan - go after a non-compliant church's tax exempt status. Many churches sit on valuable and untaxed land and rent their facilities to church non-members..........

Get That Fool wrote: <quoted text> ...and you can see the future now???? What's Saturday's powerball numbers????? No psychic powers are required for simple logic. Other countries have been accepting ssm for some time now and have been fine. The public perception of ssm has been getting more favorable over the past decade and since this has become an issue of civil rights it will inevitably lead to a court ruling when a couple that was married in one state wants to be recognized in another that does not allow it. Drawing a conclusion from trends towards acceptance it seems almost comical not believe this won't happen within a decade.

I'm speaking/voting my conscience as my rights allow me to do. My beliefs are what shapes my conscience. But no one is required to believe as I do. That's the beauty of America.... As long as congress doesn't make any laws 'requiring' a certain religion be observed, no violations have taken place....
