The definition of 'what is life', and 'when life begins', is beyond the pay grade of Washington, DC. However the egos of the DC beltway are comfortable managing the conversation, and the prison time.

More than a few of those belong to me. Unless Karen Handel is fired, those supporters will not be returning. Politics have no business being placed in the middle of raising money in the treatment and cure for cancer. Komen has shown the world this past week that they have converted from an organization that raises funds and awareness to combat breast cancer to a political entity. A political organization with high priced lobbyists that are trying to influence legislation and where and when impoverished women receive care. And before you get on your pro-life high horse, less than 3% of what PP does is abortions. They provide health care, physical exams, treatment for STD's, breast exams, pap smears, contraception, and yes, even PRENATAL care for impoverished women that have no insurance and no other access to health care. Planned Parenthood actually PREVENTS more than 620,000 unintended pregnancies each year, and 220,000 abortions. In the past three days it has raised over 3 million in donations. That is 3 million dollars that is slated towards breast cancer detection in the form of exams and mammograms to help their patient population, 75 percent that have incomes below 150 percent of the poverty line. The controversy has actually been a blessing for breast cancer research, as it has caused thousands to delve deeper into the financials and politics of Komen. The world can now see that less than 50% of their donations go to research. Compare that to the lesser known (but now more publicly known) Breast Cancer Research Foundation where 90% of funds raised go towards genetic research.

It is a sense of the Senate that deals with the subject of intellectual freedom with respect to the teaching of science in the classroom, in primary and secondary education. It is a sense of the Senate that does not try to dictate curriculum to anybody; quite the contrary, it says there should be freedom to discuss and air good scientific debate within the classroom. In fact, students will do better and will learn more if there is this intellectual freedom to discuss. I will read this sense of the Senate. It is simply two sentences—frankly, two rather innocuous sentences—that hopefully this Senate will embrace: "It is the sense of the Senate that— (1) good science education should prepare students to distinguish the data or testable theories of science from philosophical or religious claims that are made in the name of science; and (2) where biological evolution is taught, the curriculum should help students to understand why this subject generates so much continuing controversy, and should prepare the students to be informed participants in public discussions regarding the subject. It simply says there are disagreements in scientific theories out there that are continually tested. You need 1144 delegate to win, here's where they stand: Mitt Romney 87 Newt Gingrich 26 Rick Santorum 14 Ron Paul 4 http://blogs.star-telegram.com/politex/2012/0... The problem is, and this is why his is a radical position, is there is no disagreement among the scientific community on the science of Evolution.

We just have to figure who will be the better man, soon. If we keep going like this, Republicans are going to lose we have to figure out what we want, a Republican or Democrat. You still haven't addressed these questions: In his NPR interview, did he rule out teaching "intelligent design" in some classroom *other* than science? Is "intelligent design" an example of the use of critical thinking, given that it isn't supported by any evidence?... Brian_G wrote: Isn't it up to the science to rule out the theory of Intelligent Design? No, the burden of proof is upon the individuals proposing the theory. They are the ones who need to provide evidence and argument to support the theory. So far, the proponents of "ID" have failed. *** Brian_G wrote: Rick Santorum doesn't advocate teaching Creationism or ID I will ask you yet again: In his NPR interview, did he rule out teaching "intelligent design" in some classroom *other* than science?
