Could the high price of gas hurt Obama's re-election prospects? | Poll

Feb 22, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Guardian

Just when the economic news was looking promising for President Obama, seeking re-election in November, the crisis in relations with Iran has helped push a barrel of crude oil back over $100 and petrol at the pump to more than $4 a gallon in some areas.

High gas prices, Oblundercare, failure to even attempt to do anything about jobs.

One and done.

No, because last summer the right was unpatriotically salivating about $5.00 gasoline and how their only prospects for competing against our Osama-killing President is for the American people to be suffering with 15% unemployment, the Stock Market crashing and high gas prices; but as we see unemployment has dropped to 8.3% on 23 straight months of economic and job growth; the Stock Market has rocketed past 13,000 and gas was as low as $2.25 before the recently… but there are several factors that will work in the President’s favor, especially if the price of gas rises (although, by the time November rolls around prices will have stabilized to around $2.00):

– President Obama will show how he has tried in the face of right-wing opposition to push green energy.
– That his Administration has open up more land for drilling than his predecessor.
– And that his strategy to get the rest of the world to pressure Iran away from their nuclear ambition has short term consequences (which highlights his strength on foreign policy).

My view is that if the economy tanks, he will be affected, no matter what the gas prices are.
However, the other side is so weak due to
infighting and other myriad and sundry issues,
such as sex, religion, etc, etc, etc. And they
have no answers that make sense. They simply
continue to throw darts at a board, hoping that something sticks. And then there is the right wingers,
who continue to drive a stake through the heart of our republican party.

I certainly hope you're correct. Hell, I'd be willing to pay $20 a gallon just to get this Marxist-Leninist out of office.

He's ALMOST as big a buffoon as Jimmy Carter was.

I think Oblundercare moved him a little ahead of the "bad president's" list, just ahead of Carter.

Unemployment climbing back up today to 9% since you apprently don't watch the news. You're apprently clued to the obama channel and fall for his BS, the pass it on here! LMAO

Don't know where the hell you get the idea that more drilling is going on now. You've said some dumb things, that's one of them.

Iran has told the UN watchdog they will not cooperate, and are not giving in to any pressure. You suffer from clueless deficiency disorder.

Can Steven Chu have a do-over?

President Barack Obama’s Energy secretary unwittingly created a durable GOP talking point in September 2008 when he talked to The Wall Street Journal about the benefits of having gasoline prices rise over 15 years to encourage energy efficiency.

“Somehow,” Chu said,“we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europ

Anyone catch Obama's Secretary of Energy, Steve Chu ( a socialist ) the other day... saying that it would be good if American's had to pay the same at the gas pumps as the Europeans... 10-12 bucks a gallon?

Anyone catch Obama advisor/socialist Valerie Jarrett yesterday, saying unemployment "stimulates" the economy?

And THESE PEOPLE ARE RUNNING THE COUNTRY???

Gun OWNERSHIP is an American tradition. Don't you know there are more P-08s in the US than just about the rest of the world combined? War trophies from both world wars as well as a number imported as collectors from captured Russian stocks and sold to Mitchell arms co. We have even had a few domestic manufacturers make some here in stainless steel. Today they are cost prohibitive to produce with the close tolerences and extensive machining process. If you get the chance look at one up close, handle one. You'll appreciate the artistry and lines in the design and fit of parts.

The P-08 came in a CLOSE second to the 1911. The main detracting factor was in countrty of origin-Germany. And the conditions of production. Georg Luger wanted it produced in Germany at HIS factory. Not sell the US a manufaturing license to make them here.
