Clint Eastwood’s Superbowl Ad Makes Obama’s Day

Full story: www.politico.com

Did Clint Eastwood’s Chrysler ad have a subtle – or not-so-subtle - pro-Obama message?

One hundred and ten million Super-bowl-watchers saw Eastwood’s powerful ad.

“It’s half time in America,” intones the Dirty Harry star:

People are out of work and they’re hurting. And they’re all wondering what they’re gonna do to make a comeback.

Changing tack, Eastwood invoked the auto industry as a bright spot, leading the way to America's recovery:

Detroit's showing us it can be done. … This country can't be knocked out with one punch. We get right back up again and when we do, the world is going to hear the roar of our engines.

The ad doesn’t mention any politicians, but as soon as it aired, Twitter was on fire with speculation about the ad’s “real” message. Was it a plug for Obama’s auto bailout? Did Eastwood’s talk about the “second half” count as a pitch for Obama’s second term?

Republican mastermind Karl Rove implied the ad was straight-up Obama propaganda, paid for via the auto bailout. Meanwhile Obama spokesman David Axelrod was quick to release a statement praising the “powerful” ad. Watch it here.

What did you think of the ad - is it pro-Obama, or just pro-American?

the ad is pro-america

Eastwood registered as a Republican in order to vote for Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952 and he supported Richard Nixon's 1968 and 1972 presidential campaigns. He later criticized Nixon's handling of the Vietnam War and his morality during Watergate. He usually describes himself as a libertarian in interviews, fiscally conservative yet socially liberal. He told USA Weekend in 2004, "I don't see myself as conservative, but I'm not ultra-leftist.... I like the libertarian view, which is to leave everyone alone. Even as a kid, I was annoyed by people who wanted to tell everyone how to live."

And what a powerful commercial it was; and played at halftime on Super Bowl Sunday as tens of millions were locked in and mesmerized by Clint Eastwood as he narrated words of pure patriotism. And the back drop was perfect for President Obama who saved the American Auto Industry -(and as Friday’s data show)– and put this nation on course to win in the second half (of his Presidency).

This make Ronald Reagan’s “Morning in America” ad look like a Saturday morning cartoon, LOL.

Clint Eastwood:'I am Certainly Not Affiliated with Mr. Obama'

l am certainly not politically affiliated with Mr. Obama. It was meant to be a message about just about job growth and the spirit of America. I think all politicians will agree with it. I thought the spirit was OK.

I am not supporting any politician at this time.

Correction: I said tens of millions… it just came out the over A HUNDRED MILLION people watch the Super Bowl… which means over A HUNDRED MILLION people saw that pro-Obama Clint Eastwood Chrysler ad… and thus, over 75 million patriotic Americans felt a strong sense of patriotism and appreciation for President Obama for saving the American Auto Industry.

Obama was the mayor of Carmel. I guarantee he didn't win running as a lefty.

Eastwood is a Ron Paul fan. Paul is no liberal.

So Clint Eastwood doing an ad for Chrysler offends who? Oh, wait...anyone not pulling for the success of ANY initiative Pres. Obama stands behind.

...regardless if the initiative is a positive for America, American jobs, or American pride.

Should have balanced it off with Chuck Norris and Mitt Romney ad stating "we would have let you go bankrupt, lose jobs, lose small businesses that support Chrysler, and sent the American manufacturing capacity to the highest foreign bidders!"

..cause that we did at Bain Capital!

I wish you could find a way to get 1.2 million people off of me with the stroke of a pen like you did the employment roles.
Now that would be progress.

Well we know better than asking the party that grew the unemployment lines, trashed the economy, and spent more protecting Iraqi borders than U.S. borders, about how to fix the issues they caused.

I agree.
Rather than ask anymore we're just going to vote him out in the same manner that we made him a lame duck during the midterms.

I find it amazing that so many on the right seem to be upset that the American auto industry was saved. Maybe Fox didn't report on it..but leading up, most every credible economist agreed that if the auto makers folded, there would have been millions of jobs lost..and that would be just the beginning.

I can think of a dozen republicans in congress (and scores of righty media people) who said they should just be allowed to fail.

Insane.

They're saying the same thing about offering more relief for people who are losing their homes to foreclosure. Romney, Gingrch and Sanitorum all say the market should be allowed to bottom out..even though an estimated 1.5 million additional would be put out into the streets.

And still, they want to dissolve the task force that will investigate the banks for mortgage fraud. The man appointed to co-chair that task force is New York's Attorney Eric Schneiderman, who the right say will be "too aggressive" and say we shouldn't be looking back..but should be looking forward.

I hope the punishment for these crooks is swift and severe.

Daily Horoscope for June 4

Sagittarius

Relationships have been going through through testing times since the Solar Eclipse at last month's New Moon in Gemini on May 20. Events may force you to reevaluate the state of a partnership. You may even decide that you need to make some major adjustments if things are to carry on as you would like. During the coming fortnight leading up to the rare second New Moon in Gemini, this may feel like a crisis, but that doesn't mean you should abandon all hope or throw out the baby with the bathwater.
