Mitt Romney's Dream Act Response Highlights Political Peril

Full story: swampland.time.com

Mitt Romney faced a Catch-22 in President Barack Obama’s high-profile roll-out of a regulatory version of the Dream Act last Friday. The presumptive GOP presidential candidate crafted a careful response, but not a particularly compelling one.

The first instinct of any politician in a tight race would be to attack his opponent. But if Romney opposed Obama’s move to abandon deportation and prosecution of some young illegal immigrants he could enrage Latinos. Those voters may be the key to victory in southwestern and mountain states, and thus to overall electoral college victory in November’s election.

After laying with the Devil, can you come up clean?

At least this is a first step for a huge flock of lost sheep. The 'Southern Baptist' "Religion" is no longer walking away from God and toward Satan. They may not join their own parents in Hell.

mitt romney is very wisely keeping his cards close to his vest in reaction to obama's blatantly expedient, unconstitutional and very desperate act...

obama had 2 years with control of congress to address this issue...WHICH HE PLEDGED HE WOULD IN HIS FIRST 12 MONTHS!
and he did not...

now, faced with the VERY REAL possibility of losing his reelection bid, out of nowhere he pulls this stunt in a pathetic attempt to seal up the hispanic vote...

only an idiot does not see thru this.
(that would be "responsibility's" cue)

The racists (most latino voters) will vote obama no matter what Romney says.
.
ROMNEY WILL NOT GET THE OVER RATED LATINO VOTE ANYWAY..
.
Romney needs to go after the WHITE independent and pull some WHITE democrates away from obama.
.
BEING TOUGH ON ILLEGAL ALIENS AND NOT PANDERING TO RACISTS IS THE ANSWER IN MY OPINION..
.
Romney has 4 months to educate people on the damage of illegal aliens AND STOP PUSSYFOOTING AROUND.
.
Most Americans are clueless to the extent of damage illegals aliens do and the agendas by latinos, spanish countries such as mexico, and progressives in general.
.
The over rated latino vote is "lost" for Republicans anyway. He's not getting it anyway
.
Stop being a pussy and educate and get tough
.

Yes Romney needs to take a few days or whatever to firm up his position with his base on the obamanation's treasonous above the law administrative fiat to amnesty almost a million illegal mexiholes in order to kiss hispanic azz for votes. I'd like to see Romney touch on the marxist obamanation's illegal abuse of executive orders to bypass Congress and explain why this is an illegal abuse of executive power and then have Romney make very clear that he will not use executive orders to bypass Congress as the obamanation is illegally doing.

Why aren't Latinos who are citizens standing with their countrymen? Who knows? They should be - I suppose they don't *actually* bear allegiance to the USA (why are they citizens, again?).

This is why 'subject to the jurisdiction of' in the 14th Amendment is sooo important. If people don't have skin in the game, they do bad things (like support illegal aliens over their countrymen).*This* is why we should not allow anchor babies.

RMoney's position on immiragtion is just like his [position on everything else....Solidly on every side.

And an perfect example that critique of Gordon Brown directed at David Cameron: "The more he talks, the less he says."

Hurray for Romney for not taking the bait on this. Let Obama take center stage as the Constitution hating divider he truly is for awhile. History will judge him accordingly on that and then President Romney can restore the rule of law after his inauguration.

You make the illogical and unfounded assumption that RMoney disapproves of the policy. He's previously stated he supports it. Of course he's previously said he disapproves of it. And of course he spent Sunday with Bob Shaeffer bobbin' and weavin' and evading. Gutless wonder.

Its racism pure and simple. They will sell out the country to make it a more latino country. Thats why they stick up for illegals and throw the race card around. Since there are ABSOULUTELY NO VALILD REASONS to let the illegal aliens stay, they HAVE to use the race card.

I know. It's high time people and the media started pressing Latinos on it. They're supposed to be acting in the best interest of this country and all its citizens, not just the ones that hail from MX and parts south.

It's high time that the rest of us stood up and asked them where they think they are and where their allegiances truly lie. If they still think they're in their 'homeland', perhaps it's time we invite them to go back.

America - love it or leave it.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Cancer

Take care because it's a rather downbeat day. You feel as though you have the cares of the world on your shoulders, and maybe you have. You've certainly got to cope with a lot of responsibility and duty, and there could also be delays and disappointments that need to be negotiated. Yes, it's a fairly miserable day but try to rise above it, otherwise you'll soon start to feel really wretched and sorry for yourself.
