Good question. In the case of Dresden, the Soviet front lines were within sight of Dresden. It's said that the firebombing intensity of Dresden was as much a warning to the Soviets as a punishment to Germans. It was dreadful, as deadly as atom bombs, minus radiation. But both sides showed great cruelty, the allies chief weapon was airpower, and they used it, by God!! I don't think we can second guess it. Dropping the Abomb on two cities in Japan is a whole nother issue. We remain the only nation to have used nuclear weapons in war. Nothing to be proud of.
Deliberately killing innocent civilians is definitely nothing to be proud of. And that's what I'm struggling with.

What was the purpose of dropping fire bombs on towns full of innocents? In the city of Dresden alone a maximum of 25,000 died - burnt to cinders.
"By early morning on 14 February, the center of the city was engulfed in a firestorm with temperatures peaking at over 1500°C."
Seven of Germany's major cities were fire bombed.
Both the U.S. and British military had its own defense for the purpose of doing this. However, it was considered a war crime by some in the international community.
What do you think?
I think Vonnegut wrote 'Slauterhouse Five' about his experience in Dresden, where he was a POW at the time of the bombing. Good book.

Mormon 600 up,

The Mormon teching beleives that you can actually become a god yourself. The idea that one can acheive godhood is apealing to the foolish."

I read about that in my research. Vonnegut recalled "utter destruction" and "carnage unfathomable". The Germans made him and the other POWs gather the bodies for mass burial.

No matter who wins, I get the feeling things are going to hit the fan anyway. Hope it's just indigestion. But the other shoe has been dangling for too long. It's going to drop sooner or later.
For example, Israel says they are waiting until after our elections to strike Iran's nuclear facilities. Israel may just be the catalyst shoe.
The global economic other shoe is also dangling vicariously.
Just saying.
Shakespeare had it right; “Cry 'Havoc', and let slip the dogs of war" Mankind has a great bias towards war. We lean to war far more than we lean to peace. Mankind has been fighting wars forever, for small and large reasons. It's not gonna change. It's what we are, but the weapons of today can end life for all. Economic hard times worldwide leads to protectionism and war. Happened in the Great Depression, could be happening now. The early wars were small, Spanish Civil War, Italy in Ethiopia, but they grew. You know the rest.

I understand that. Could we not have defeated them so close to the end of the war without the killing of so many innocents?

Yes, it must have been awful. Didn't the slaughterhouse itself help save the POW's from the fires??

In earlier eras, people were more captured as slaves than killed. Like in the Old Testament. Nowadays, killing innocent civilians is a major part of every war going on today, regardless of who's involved. Automatic weapons are everywhere. We can't unring the bell. I guess it should pain us, but it's not likely to change anytime soon.

I have a feeling you will just stay uneducated and look to blame others for your being a loser, right?
Yes, I have your number. You are all too common.
I'm not blaming any one.

It's just a verified fact.

You ever stalk some minority in your freak history: Jews[Pogroms], Wicthes, Heretics[Inquisition], Muslims[Crusades...all those 13]... and now us blacks.

****I'M NOT BLAMING ANYONE****

YOU'RE NOT GUILTY OF TAKING PLEASURE IN TORTURING AND KILLING, BUT
IT BEHOOVES US TO DEFEND OUR CHILNDREN AND FAMILIES BY ALL MEANS NECESSARY.

Nevertheless, if you enslaved and tried to exterminated us before, what prevent you to try twice ? Incidentally, are you more human than your genocidal ancestors?

Your genocidal slaver people ever enjoyed to watch innocent people being tortured: Coliseum, Witch Hunts, Pogroms, Nazism, Hangings, Lynchings, Holocaust, Abu Graib, Crucifixions, Concentration Camps, Inquisition, Brazen bulls etc, etc Any act of torture becomes a glorious event making your mentally sick[psychopathy is more common among whites] people join by crowds, cheer and applaud all macabre spectacle like a rock concert.

This happened in very different times, places and situations... that will certainly repeat, so I don't want my people suffering again in the hands of this mob of humanoid pigs.

Hmmm...in other words people, there's little difference between the Mormon "cult" or the Liberal "cult".

The Mormons have Jesus and the Liberals have Obama!

The killing of innocents in any war is inevitable. Getting rid of the evil that kills innocents is what peaceful nations must do.

However, when peaceful nations deliberately go out of their way to kill thousands of innocents so horrifically, it changes the face of things. It has changed the face of things for me dramatically.

Daily Horoscope for May 22

Virgo

Keep a pinch of salt handy today because not everything you hear will be the gospel truth. Someone might have manipulated the facts to make them sound more acceptable, or they may have got carried away and forgotten to tell you something rather vital. Try to keep misunderstandings to a minimum by being as straightforward and honest as possible, and by not simply assuming that people know what you're talking about and therefore not bothering to explain properly.
