Danville, known as the City of Firsts

Danville, known as the City of Firsts and Birthplace of the Bluegrass, is nestled in the heart of Kentucky. Its location on a branch of the Wilderness Road, a trail blazed through frontier lands by Daniel Boone and other like-minded pioneers, allowed Danville to burgeon into a political, cultural, and educational hub in the late 18th century. Danville was settled between 1783 and 1784 by Walker Daniel, for whom the town was named. A series of constitutional conventions that led to Kentucky’s statehood in 1792 were held in Danville, and the town has remained an integral piece of state history since. The images in this volume reflect the firsts for which Danville is famous: the Kentucky School for the Deaf, Centre College, the home of famed physician Ephraim McDowell, and more, as well as featuring photographs of everyday life: churches, restaurants, and businesses so fondly recalled by its citizens.

yall go easy on TonyT, he and I go way back, his insults don't bother me, and mine don't bother him. He's one of those yankees that moved south...for somebody that hates the south, that don't make sense, but there ya go. At least I think it's him, there is another tony out there, maybe I have them confused. You know what they say, all tonys look alike.

Anyway, whenever he, or anybody else, blasts me, just because we lost the War of Northern Aggression, I suggest they retire to Buffalo or Rochester, instead of GA, SC, Fla, etc. They have ruined our southern way of living, what with their unsweet tea, black knee length socks with sandals, Buicks going 40 in the left lane, with their left blinker on for 35 miles, their white patent leather belts, madras shorts and their overwhelming love for the early bird special. At at least they are not from California, those people are the worst.

You're always funny to mess with Inbred. Yes, it's the same Tony(to NY).

I really love S.C.- to retire to, which will be in about 6 more years - then I become a "Damn Yankee" - I think I told you I bought my condo there in 2010 - nice place, 9th floor, view of the ocean, and I've been making a few bucks renting it over the last year.

How've you been buddy? Business good to ya?

You may be right regarding colusion on that particular ad - I'll defer judgement until this is vetted - and obviously, not just by Fox News.
Romney is by no means a conservative -0 Romney is whatever he needs to be to get his position, and has shamelessly changed on a multitude of issues. Truly the biggest flip flopper of any republican candidate I've seen in the last 40 years.
Simply voting for this guy because you may think the "grass will be greener on the other side" is not a metric I would employ to vote. Many have learned the grass is NOT greener on the other side.
The term NEO-CON was coined by Michael Harrington in a 1970's article in "Dissent" Magazine. He was a leftist who noticed that there were liberals who were moving rightward on issues that would appeal to consevatives, while at the same time retaining a GLOBALIST WORLD VIEW and an acceptability of the welfare state.

At the center of the neo-Con movement was the Bush Family, although that was unbeknownst to Republicans and conservatives at the time. The REALITY was that the neo-cons were basically Rockefeller Republicans.

Now, when push came to shove, the key decisions made by Bush Sr. and "W" would be in favor of the Rockefeller world view and led to BAILOUTS, first to the Savings and Loans and then to the Financial and Banking Institutions on Wall Street. It was also a view that the US Military could be used GLOBALLY to effect International Advancement of a GLOBALIST agenda AND also included a world-wide open border policy.

Well, Conservatives finally figured out that they had been played and are furious. Now enter Romney, stage Left?, Center? or Stage Right? Needless to say, they are NOW wary.

But the Republican/Conservatives ARE CERTAIN of one thing and that is Obama IS against them; so they will support Romney and IF Romney does win he will have nowhere near the leeway that the Bushes had.

Now this is AMAZING: ie, the dems have put out a political ad showing Allen West punching a white woman.

Didn't they learn anything from the Wellstone funeral???

There has been a slight drifting of the polls in Obama's direction recently, BUT These Over the Top Ads indicate that maybe the internal Axelrod polls, which must be authentic to be useful, are telling a different story.

Interesting viewpoint. I have reservations referring to the Rockefellers as Neocons but a very interesting perspective.

Save your Confederate Money, Boys! The South is Gonna Rise Again!

J.D. Longstreet | February 15, 2010

In my youth there was a popular song entitled:“Save Your Confederate Money, Boys… the South Is Gonna Rise Again!”

I began to think about it as I watched a group of talking heads discussing the future of America, as a single entity comprised of 50 states. The consensus was… America will not survive as a 50-state nation. It is a conclusion, which I, unhappily, arrived at years ago.

I am convinced we Americans are being lied to by our government. I am also convinced our economy is on the verge of collapse. Maybe it is just my natural paranoia, but I simply don’t see the “silver lining” inside the dark clouds hanging low over Wall Street and other financial centers in America. I think we are in for a total collapse of our economic system.

What then?

Well, we start over. I mean, literally, we START OVER.

To say that the Old Confederacy will re-emerge, is a bit of a stretch. Although, there are some Americans who would certainly like to see that. But we are a different people than our confederate ancestors. Having said that, I DO believe, however, that many of the contiguous southern states will make an attempt at forming a country of their own.

Texas will, most likely, revert back to a republic.
http://www.americanconservativedaily.com/2010...

==========
State Sovereignty Movement Quietly Growing

You may not have heard much about it, but there's a quiet movement afoot to reassert state sovereignty in America and stop the uncontrolled expansion of federal government power. Almost half of the state legislatures are considering or have representatives preparing to introduce resolutions which reassert the principles of the 9th and 10th Amendments to the Constitution and the idea that federal power is strictly limited to specific areas detailed in the Constitution and that all other governmental authority rests with the states.

In the version of this bill being considered in Washington state, they appeal to the authority of James Madison in The Federalist who wrote:

""The powers delegated to the federal government are few and defined. Those which are to remain in the state governments are numerous and indefinite. The former will be exercised principally on external objects,[such] as war, peace, negotiation, and foreign commerce. The powers reserved to the several states will extend to all the objects which, in the ordinary course of affairs, concern the lives, liberties, and properties of the people."

The founding fathers believed in a balance between state and federal power. This state sovereignty movement clearly arises from the belief that the balance of power has tilted too far and for too long in the direction of the federal government and that it's time to restore that lose balance.

Daily Horoscope for May 23

Aries

You're idealistic and impressionable today, and want to see the best in everyone. Look straight past their faults, pretending they aren't there; concentrate on their good points instead. If a new relationship gets off the ground now it will always be characterized by an aura of romance and fantasy, and a slightly otherworldly quality.
