John McCain:

"I am against earmarks..."

"We'll change the way the government does business..."

"When it comes to spending, I'm a maverick..."

Thanks Senator McCain. Thanks to your leadership and "maverick" attitude, the bailout has passed.

It took five days to turn a THREE-PAGE proposal on Monday, into 1,400+ pages of pork and wasteful spending by Friday...AND you did it without having to suspend your campaign after all!

John McCain said:

"It is completely unacceptable for ANY kind of earmarks to be included in this bill," he said in a speech in Freeland, Mich. "It would be outrageous for legislators and lobbyists to pack this rescue plan with taxpayer money for favored companies. This simply cannot happen."

Well let's take a look at what's under our earmark Christmas tree:
a $100 million tax break to benefit auto racetrack owners!
$192 million in rebates on excise taxes for the Puerto Rican and Virgin Islands rum industry!
$2 million tax benefit for makers of wooden arrows for children!

Good job Mr. Maverick. You stiff your constituents with a load of pork while bailing out your coprorate buddies.

John McCain: "Corporations first...Country, whenever he gets around to it."

The facts are facts, and what Gov. Palin said is true.

To make things worse, Bill Ayers is an unrepentant terrorist.

Republicans are reaping their just reward for lowering the bar with Bush. Just like a company depends on promoting the best and brightest to leadership for success, so too do political parties only thrive if those most deserving promotions get them. Every Republican woman who knows the issues better than Sarah Palin should be outraged at the choice. Nothing is worse for women in politics than when a Sarah Palin gets the job instead of someone more capable and prepared.

America depends on the strength of opposing political forces to test ideas. I don't trust projects from the Left until I've had a chance to read what the best minds on the Right have to say about them. I can tell you that the motivation for many of us on the Left to challenge the Clinton establishment, is to bring the kind of change in leadership that the Right also needs.

The only thing more sad than what the Palin VP pick says about the state of the Republican Party is that most Republicans are so closed off from different perspectives that they have little sense of the corruption of ideology that has been their Party's undoing. I want to believe that many Republicans will vote against McCain, to begin the process of repudiating the false prophets who have let the money changers in the temple. In the heat of this political process, if the Grand Old Party wipes away the crud of Roves, O'Reillys, and Limbaughs that brought us to this point; you could then see the people who should be leading their Party. The best thing that can come from eight years of Bush is from a stronger hammer and anvil to emerge on the right and the left from which the American family can shape the plans to deal with the challenges we face at home and abroad.

*the left eye* should keep in mind that Barack Obama voted for that same bill. BHO was MIA in leadership on this BAILOUT bill that benefits Wall Street.

Obama did not provide any leadership when it mattered -- he could have tried to include a provision that would have allowed bankruptcy judges reset the terms on mortgages that were subject to foreclosure to help keep citizens in their homes.

But, no! He sat idly by, letting the FAT CATS win at the taxpayers' expense.

McCAin is no prize, but anyone who thinks that Barack Obama represents change and hope, is sadly deluded. He is a corporatist, first and foremost.

Americans keep getting fooled, and fooled again!

How racism works.
What if John McCain were a former president of the Harvard Law Review?
What if Barack Obama finished fifth from the bottom of his graduating class?
What if McCain were still married to the first woman he said, "I do" to?
What if Obama were the candidate who left his first wife after she no longer measured up to his standards?
What if Michelle Obama were a wife who not only became addicted to pain killers, but acquired them illegally through her charitable organization?
What if Cindy McCain graduated from Harvard?
What if Obama were a member of the 'Keating 5'?
What if McCain was a charismatic, eloquent speaker?
If these questions reflected reality, do you really believe the election numbers would be as close as they are?
This is what racism does. It covers up, rationalizes and minimizes positive qualities in one candidate and emphasizes negative qualities in another when there is a color difference.

In 1995 Bill Ayers founded a school called the Chicago Annenberg Challenge or (CAC). Bill Ayers appointed Obama as his first chairman and Obama and Bill Ayers collaborated together to write CAC’s bylaws. These two men do have a history. The McCain campaign has not even scratched the surface of Obama's involvement with ACORN regarding the housing crisis. The media and Obama ( one and the same ) will be on the defensive from here out because they don't have anything on McCain. A little history about Bill Ayers:

Like your Lib sympathizers you got it backwards!

Fannie's and Freddie's meltdowns were mostly due to Democrats like Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Chuck Schumer downplaying the horrible financial condition both were in and the fact that both were cooking the books and granting and supporting loans to those who couldn't afford them. The policy of mandating low-income loans was strictly a Democrat idea, which was ratcheted up under the Clinton administration. In fact, Janet Reno threatened to prosecute banks that didn't grant low-income loans.

Now, high gas prices are also responsible for slowing the economy down. Thanks to DEMOCRATS oil companies have been unable to drill. In fact, about a month ago Nancy Pelosi still didn't want to lift the 1981 oil drilling ban. Democrats have been dragging their feet on lifting this ban despite the obvious need to drill. Moroever, during the debate Joe Biden lied when he said it would take ten years to produce oil from wells. The fact is it depends upon what infrastructer is in place and were the drilling is at and where the oil is under the ground. It can take anywhere from 1-year to 8 years to produce oil from a well. Every expert will tell you that ten years would be a worse case scenario. What this says about Biden is that he really doesn't want oil drilling. He wants to forget oil and turn to other, more costly, energy. Fine, if and only if we have enough oil to bridge the gap.

So, to say that REPUBLICANS are at fault is not only simplistic and inaccurate, but it's down right dumb and naive to say. If you want to support Obama/Biden, fine. But don't lie about the reasons why you're supporting them!

Regardless of what Ayers did in the past, he has redeemed himself 10x over since then. He is a distinguished Prof. at UIC, and has devoted himself to improving educational opportunities for the disadvantaged. The McCain campaign should be embarrassed for trotting out Palin to bring this nonsense up again.

Excellent and obvious point. Add to the list "if Obama had said he hates 'gooks' and would hate them as long as he lived." Maybe add "calling your wife a c***" in front of the press corp. And how about "pushing a wheelchair-bound MIA POW wife over in a temper tantrum outside his office."?

The DNC are being smart running a black guy now. If the GOP had a half-decent candidate, Obama would have no chance against the riled up racists. But the depressing part is that the race is still close. How sad is that? Try also adding "the Democrats have ruled for 8 years, destroyed the economy and got us stuck in an illegal and costly war." How many points would McCain be ahead now in that alternate reality?

This "news" about Ayers is old news and has been already scrutinized in the past 21 months, as has everything else about Senator Obama except the kind of underwear he uses. This is nothing about a last ditch attempt to rejuvenate a campaign in the agonal stage of dying. For Sarah Short and Silly to step into this hogwash is not very smart. If one were to prepare a fact sheet of her history and her running mate's history, we would be reading until November of their shady and shadowy connections. There is danger lurking but it is not Senator Obama. It is in the guise of a seasoned, experienced public official who does not read and cannot articulate what is in her mind without a mic, a camera, a script, a character role to play, and a captive audience in which Somebody Out There Will Like Me. I would love to know just what "diversity" exists in that "microcosm of America" that she calls "Alaska". Danger lurks in the persona of John McCain who is bad tempered, impulsive, more of a gambler than a maverick, old, and dishonorable, and who is a war monger who finds it acceptable to speak with friends if they agree with him but not with enemies who may not agree with him. He would rather just bomb them. Danger lurks in this "new" GOP that is also as much in the agonal stage of dying as is this campaign. Someone needs to step up to the plate and get this party back where it was before Reagan and before it polluted itself, or they need to break away and form their own party.

McCain needs a better tactic than trying to accuse Obama of being a terrorist.
As an American entering the baby boomer years I am watching my retirement account and my home value plummet.
I did all the right things, save and invest.
Now the government is telling me it could all vanish.
If McCain wants to talk about Obama's terrorist connections instead of what McCain going to do to save my 401K and my home...I'm voting for Obama.
Come on, McCain, it's the economy , stupid!

Perhaps the reason Palin got her facts so twisted regarding Obama's purported Ayers connection is that she didn't actually read the article. As was apparent in one of her Couric interviews, Palin not only doesn't read, she can't identify any news sources. It's not unreasonable to assume she gets her information exclusively from Fox News.

It's ashame that with 4 weeks to go we have a candidate that appears to not be interested with the #1 issue facing America. I realize that Sen. McCain has admitted to not knowing much about economics, but one would hope that someone within his campaign does. If no one within the campaign wants to take on the economic struggle this country faces 4 weeks before the election - I, for one, would hate to see how they would handle and react if, "they were so privileged" to be elected.

The book that Barack Obama and his cheerleaders in the media don’t want you to read
How could a man with the farthest-left voting record in the U.S. Senate ... who has vowed to raise taxes and increase government spending ... who has promised unilateral retreat from the War on Terror ... who has had close relationships with a former terrorist, a hate-spewing racist minister, and the corrupt operators of Chicago machine politics ...
How could such a man be on the brink of becoming the next President of the United States? It's because the liberal media has presented Obama as a kind of political savior who will infuse us with "hope" by delivering "change." So few Americans have the slightest idea who Barack Obama really is, what he really stands for ... or how he really got where he is today.
Well, that's about to change – thanks to a new book called The Case Against Barack Obama: The Unlikely Rise and Unexamined Agenda of the Media's Favorite Candidate. In this shocking exposé, crack investigative reporter David Freddoso demonstrates that despite the hype, Barack Obama doesn't represent "change" or new thinking in American politics at all. In reality, he is a far-left liberal politician in the mold of Hillary Clinton, John Kerry, Al Gore, Mike Dukakis, and Walter Mondale -- but with charm and political savvy that rivals that of Bill Clinton.
It is imprudent in the extreme -- and dangerous for our survival as a nation -- for Americans to entertain false hopes about what Obama stands for and what he can accomplish in the way of changing history and American attitudes. That's what makes The Case Against Barack Obama so important. Here is the book that moves beyond the rhetoric, giving you the sobering truth about the real Barack Obama.

McCain and Palin ticket should be known as hypocrites. Keating five, troopergate, witch doctors, distortion, lies, etc. It is a ticket of George Bush scare tactics. It isn’t going to work this time. For that matter, it will do more harm than good. The American public realizes that McCain is trying to avoid the issues by distorting the truth and slandering Obama’s character.(Bush tactics). If that is the best McCain and Palin can do they can’t lead this country . Middle Class needs someone, like Obama, to represent them instead of the rich, privileged and powerful which the Republican’s represent. I guess the Republican’s do not realize the public learned their lesson from Bush scare tactics that got us in a war and killed thousands and destroyed our economy.

Does the country really want a President who thinks the only way to win is to use smear tactics. If someone with this type of character is President, he will use the same tactics to convince America of a policy he is trying to promote (Bush Tactics).

My only surprise is why Obama is not using Keating five in the campaign. It is factual and there is tons of evidence of McCain’s involvement and guilt. Maybe he is saving it for debate night! Wouldn’t that be a zinger.
