McCain may be zeroing in on a running mate

Yet another town-hall meeting isn't doing the trick. Neither is dropping in on a former Republican president. So just what can John McCain do to draw attention away from his showy Democratic rival? Pick a running mate, perhaps.

McCain wanted to select Calvin Coolidge until he was told that ole Cal had passed on a few years back.

Have we ever had an election where one of the potential vp candidate (Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal) has been considered questionable because he might make the president look older than old?

That tells you alot about this election.

he's just trying to distract the attention from Obama overseas.. which btw he dared him to go, now that he has, he regrets it b/c nobody is paying any attention to McShame.. what did he expect? and really who cares who he's picks he's gonna be just as boring as he is, the repub's are in trouble they can't excite their own party.. Besides Novak says McCain's camp just used him to say that knowing it wasn't gonna happen, just trying to gain attention from Obama overseas, and vows to blast them if it doesn't happen.

Last night, he posted an item that got a lot of attention, saying a source told him McCain would announce his vice presidential choice this week. Now he's not so sure it's true.

"I got a suggestion from a very senior McCain aide that he was gonna announce it this week," Novak told Fox News. "And they suggested I put it out ... so I just put something on the internet."

"I since have been told by certain people that this was a dodge, trying to get a little publicity to rain on Obama's campaign," he said. "That's pretty reprehensible if it's true. But we'll find out in a few days."

So McCain has the rest of the week to decide: pick a VP or incur Novak's wrath.

The McCain campaign won't comment, but Marc Ambinder says aides are reacting "with amusement."

I'm a Republican and I agree with your assessment but the McShame bit means your ability to get out of the gutter is severly limited at best.

Shame on you @%&&0^(!!.

the news must be slow finding obama stories - yahoo announcing this over obama wiping his a$$ for the 3rd time today after dumping in a foreign toilet!

McCain has a built in advantage that whoever he picks will outclass any moron obama will choose!

obama had to finally go overseas only after McCain told him to do it!!! he looked weak & pathetic!

obama still WILL NOT DEBATE MCCAIN IN TOWNHALL MEETINGS after McCain challenged obama! obama is a chicken! obama and his liberal controlled media know obama can only speak well with speeches written by others - in a debate hillary made obama look aloof & quite stupid!

obama - the weakling for president!

McCain is getting frustrated with Obama continuously getting the thunder and realizing that the moderators for televised debates will not give him the wiggle room he needs and gets at simple town hall meetings.
McCain's message remains the same, old and boring without much substance.
His fault ? Partially, but his advisors don't help him much if at all.
It was a big mistake in challenging Obama to visit the Middle East.

Yes indeed, the socialists on this forum (you know who you are) have got to be dumber than a box of rocks; I mean stuck on stupid.
One nitwit has nothing to say so he comes up Calvin Coolidge...what a contribution. The next nitwit pulls something out of his behind and claims Bobby Jindal would make McCain look old...that doesn't hold one drop of water. Next comes a douche bag fixated on a delusion that McCain is trying to get attention and cannot because he's being upstaged by Obama...I guess she doesn't realize everyone in America knows John McCain and the more Obama is on TV the better. It gives people time to drink the kool-aide, sober up and realize they acted like idiots over what is a turd...embarrassing.
Then you have a nitwit saying it was a mistake for McCain to challenge Obama to head to the middle east...Only if you are inept and do not know how to see through the muck and hype...To people in the know, not effected or mesmerized by euro-socialist propaganda means Obama is just delivering pizzas because that’s all he’s qualified to do.

He should choose you for his Vice President John - who else would make him look like a bigger winner? Let's hear it for John as VP - John and John. Flip and Flop. Mutt and Jeff. Age and Ignorance. Just the man Amerika is looking for.

He is highly questionable for these rascist warmongers of Christianity. Plus he has some economic moxy - something not good in a Republican - business can't take unfair advantage of an educated man. Will probably be a crony like Bob Dole or a certain reformed Republican from Idaho.:-) Family values wins every time.

Tell me genius...how does it feel to belong to a party that owns the legacy of slavery, Jim Crow, The KKK, Lynching and houses a former KKK member democRat Robert "Sheets" Byrd...Your detailed response is?

How convenient it is to neglect the rest of the game dear John. How does it feel to be the party who recruited those Southern Democrats and made them the very base of their party - The Conservative Republican Christian Right Wing. Now you may think that we miss those bad Democrats - but no actually we just hate the Corrupt Republicans they have become so successfully in your party. Detailed enough for you? At least we know how to get rid of evil influences in our party - quite unlike your party that provides them a place to grow. I so love how you mismanage figures and statistics - some day when you can add up all the losses you may see they are in the Republican column. John and John in 08. Great candidates for denial based people who vote for Amerika. I prefer to cast my vote for the American people. How does it feel to have so mis- managed your Republican legacy - you don't have any base but the baseless people - the corrupt, criminal dredge of corporate society to carry on and former DemoRats rascists/elitists waiting for the south to rise again?

It's become a question of how many have gone thumbs down to McCain.
Even Dan Quayle turned down the job and after laughing at him, hung the phone up.

Distract from Obama while overseas?

The big three networks followed Obama Pied Piper style on his world trip... but they've been stonewalled from any interviews. Obama (or his handlers) are limiting access to the media and completely controlling the information that comes out. They suspect (know?) that Obama is so weak on foreign affairs (even though he was subcommittee chair on European Affairs...) that he could chow on leather at any moment. Not to mention that Obama's pauses (um, erh, uh, etc) are so painful to watch.

-----
At this hour, Sen. Barack Obama is holding a news conference in Jordan, which the cable news networks are carrying. But last night Newsbusters reported on NBC's chief foreign affairs correspondent Andrea Mitchell who let loose some of her frustrations with the lack of access being given to reporters on the trip, specifically in Afghanistan and Iraq. Mitchell's comments came during an appearance on Hardball with Chris Matthews.

"You're seeing selected pictures taken by the military, questions by the military and what some would call fake interviews because they're not interviews from a journalist," she said. "Politically, it's smart as can be, but we have not seen a presidential candidate do this, in my recollection, ever before."

When questioned by Matthews about some of the video from Obama's time in Iraq, Mitchell continued. "I can't really say, being a reporter who was not present in any of those situations, I just can't report on what was edited out, what was on the sidelines," said Mitchell. "We don't know what we are seeing."

Mitchell hasn't, so far, landed one of the handful of "exclusive" interviews with Obama.

Chris Matthews must be really disappointed -- he probably wanted another 'tingling' leg experience.

As if the current Dems don't still have their fair share of racists and corp. supporters.

For those interested go to WWW.opensecrets.com

You can do your own research on who has what corporate employees contributing the most and from which corp.

You will find the employees of WallStreet including the speculators and Hedge Fund managers support Obama at a much higher % than MCain.

Racists such as Rev. Wright and Farrakhan are Obamamessiah supporters.Plus terrorists such as the Ayers/Dorhn duo.
