Full story: Denver Post

Maine voters repealed a state law Tuesday that would have allowed same-sex couples to wed, dealing the gay rights movement a heartbreaking defeat in New England, the corner of the country most supportive of gay marriage.

In any battle there are wins, and there are losses. We will fight even harder, and next time we will win.

We will never allow laws that harm our families to go uncgallenged.

Gays don't have families. You have to put a round peg into a round hole to have a family and gays are too dumb to find the correct hole.

Gay people do deserve equall protection and acceptance for their interests, but taking these by altering an institution belonging to heterosexuals was the wrong way to go about it.

You won't win in Maine, idiot.

And it has nothing to do with "harm" to your families. Leave heterosexual institutions the hell alone. Make up your own.

Congrats to the state of Maine on this victory. It just shows that the people just dont want same sex marriage in this county. At this moment, there has been 31 votes on this issue and the gay community hasnt won any of them.

People didn't want to end slavery, people didn't want interracial marriage. Learn from history, we will have our rights.

That is an outright lie. People wanted to end slavery and wanted interracial marriage. I guess you never learned from history. What is the score 0-31?

Interracial marriage was implemented in the Loving v VA ruling in 1967 when approximately 72% of Americans were against it, it wasn't until the 1990's that a majority of Americans, when polled, supported interracial marriage.

Your gloating over "the score" doesn't change the fact that no civil rights should ever be subject to a popular vote.

you don't have the right to gay marriage that is where you have missed the point .

gay marriage is in the hands of the states you are not going to get a national law that allows your chosen lifestyle .

well, it wasn't the 'gay thugs' which released voter information in ca. but yeah, they certainly should.. as well as anybody who spent any sort of donations of time or money on the campaign against civil rights. in fact, the names, telephone numbers and addresses as well as their photos should be posted on the internet, and broadcast on television and radio as well.

Maybe all the gay people should have their names, telephone numbers, and addresses posted on the internet, television, and broadcast on the radio. This way everyone could know who to reach so you could explain you position to us who are on the fence.
But, that wouldn't be right from your perspective I'm sure.
If I'm wrong, why don't you be the first to list yours here and now?

this has got to be one of the silliest posts i've seen here. how do you figure that gays don't have families? they have mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandparents and children of their very own. that sounds like a family to me.

oh yeah... and at least gays stick to their own species... texans don't. right, cowpoke?

I wouldnt be surprised if they did. That is how childish they act.

I know about history. Slavery and interracial marriage were both wrong and that is why it wasnt up to the people.

Trying to make same sex marriage sound like slavery and interracial marriage is a insult for those people who were slaves while interracial marriage and same sex marriage have nothing in common.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Libra

You're full of empathy and affection today, so it would be a shame not to spread it around. It's a marvellous day for a low-key get-together with some of the people you haven't seen during the past few days, because you'll enjoy having a good chat about what's been happening. Once your social duties are out of the way you'll love curling up on the sofa with a good book or a favourite film.
