Do not put anymore troops on Oahu or any other island. It is over populated already. Save Oahu and Hawaii's land and natural beauty

There are too many people and too much traffic here on Oahu. It would not be in the best interest of Hawaii to make the problem worse by adding more soldiers. Put them where there is more space on the mainland.

I am generally not a huge supporter of the military. But, I am not opposed to the economic impact that they will bring. The military needs to make the deal better. How about some increased services for veterans. And, we'll take an extra billion for the train. Some people say their are too many people here. There are not. With better infrastructure and housing we can easily double the population here. We just need to make the investment. In 2050 Honolulu will be the next Singapore!!

Another potential shot in the arm for Wahiawa. With all the talk of an economic downturn, this should bring more stabiblity to the Wahiawa business ohana.

It seems as if you admire Singapore. You cannot even smoke or EAT in public! There's this little problem with your view of it so easily becoming so-that is a continent and we are youthful TROPICAL VOLCANIC islands. Our islands have been built with a continetal design in mind and in order to really be able to smash double the amount of people in we'd have to start all over again from scratch, not simply try to reverse conditions we have already created. Our waterways are still forming, and we'd have to have a better understanding of hydrology in order to only develop areas not in direct paths of them.

I can go on forever on this, really. I suggest "Volcanoes in the Sea" by UH press to get a better understanding of the phisical, geological characteristics of our islands and how they differ from continental landscapes. You live here, so it is pretty much your responsibility to learn as much as possible about the land before you go throwing out comments like that.

Wahiawa does not need any more traffic. As for the homeless they are living near the entrance to Wahiawa because the rents have increased substancially in the past years. They have no where else to go. This is because investors are buying up Ohai Street, Ohai Place,Olive avenue and other rental buildings in the Central district of Wahiwa. Look at all the food places in Wahiawa, its sickening.

Here come 2000 more residents, each with $2,000 monthly tax free dollars to rent/buy housing folks here can't afford. The military should house ALL troops on base, if they can't don't bring em here. Put them on Guam, Saipan, Tinian, etc. Lots of land to build housing there and they would be much closer to Asian potential hot spots. Landlords are just drooling in anticipation of raising their rents for these folks. So what if it means more local homeless. Shame on you.

Sure, sure send them to Hawai'i and out of Cali. that's where most of these military troops are coming from (closed bases).

I am really wondering how you can suspect I am married to a military person when my post realyed geologic arguments.
And why is it that you assume I am married to one, and not one myself? Sounds a little sexist.
