I have no idea what to say about this. Was our defense lacking in 2008? Kubes has an 84% approval rating*, which seems high to me, but I can't seem to find a good overall defensive ranking system to make an argument against him. I think defense is a particularly subjective part of the game to judge. Personally, I think defense is 75% big plays, which is why I love seeing everyone come around to Mario Williams. My favorite defensive stat: Give vs Take. So the Texans were awful (-10), but most of the damage is in interceptions (20 out of 32) and QB fumbles (6 or 7 out of 12).** Sure the defense only had 22 takeaways, but that's not bad. I think our focus should be on the man throwing the ball. Schaub looks great at times, but I am not sure. I know he's the starter for next year, but is Kubes hitching the wagon to him? I wouldn't. I think he's a bit fragile. Is it just an obvious move to upgrade the defensive coaching staff whenever possible? Are they still as concerned about the QB as me?

** no exact stat on who fumbled where - I just remember at one point near week 12 if was 6 QB fumbles (as stated on ESPN)
