Wisconsin Badgers NCAA Football

BuckeyeXtra - 10 years of Badger QBs

Full story: Columbus Dispatch

Scott Tolzien grew up idolizing Brett Favre. That's funny, when you consider that Tolzien grew up in suburban Chicago, where the Green Bay Packers are reviled.

What kind of stupid bone headed question would you call asking Scott Tolzien about his recruiting process. Why don't you ask that question to John Clay? Are you trying to prove that he has the smarts to play the game, and had the ability to develop into a late bloomer.

Nothing interesting about this article, I'm surprise you still have a god.

He's 6'1 and weights over 260 pounds, and still could beat Brandon Saine in the 40. Joe McKnight got 60 yards on you. I would love to bet you that he doubles that. That's 120 yards if you can't do the math. And 2 or 3 TD's with that.

You're delusional if you think Clay could beat Saine in the 40. Wisconsin is in for a reality shot tomorrow. They haven't faced a top 50 team on defense yet this year. They've barely won each game by a touchdown or fieldgoal - except Woffard who is a 1A school. I'm sure Clay will get some yardage - he is a good back. But he won't put up the numbers against the Buckeyes like he did against Minnesota or Fresno. Buckeyes win this one easily.

Jeff, what does your comment have anything to do with anything? Don't you have a cow to milk or something?

I love the fact that Badger fans are talking now that their team is 5-0.

You know, there's a reason why Wisconsin isn't rank in the top 25. It's because they haven't played anyone yet. Eking out a three-point win over Minnesota doesn't count, nor does that eight-point win over Northern Illinois, or the double overtime win over Fresno State, who is now 1-3.

It's going to be a long day in Ohio Stadium for Tolzien, Clay and the rest of the Badgers this Saturday.

"They've barely won each game by a touchdown or fieldgoal [sic]- except Woffard [sic] who is a 1A [sic] school."

Just fyi, 1A is the division your team plays in. Wofford is 1AA (FCS).

I don't like to predict games, especially college games where the best team on paper doesn't win as much as it "should." That said, I think people like you will be in for a "reality shot," whatever that is.(I'm guessing it's something like a dose of reality, but I've never heard anybody call it a "reality shot.")

Clearly, all you know about the Badgers is what you read in the box scores, or maybe just the scores themselves. Wisconsin has been in control of every game this year, except Fresno State. They've just had 5-minute or so stretches in the fourth quarter where they let their foot off the gas, allowing quick scores at the end of the game that make the scores look closer than the games actually were.

I'm not saying the Badgers will necessarily win, but it's going to be a lot closer than you think.

Not all Badger fans are as simple as Jeff (it is a top 10 public academic institution afterall).

The biggest difference between the underachieving/overrated UW team of the past few years and this team is Tolzien. Clay is a monster, but he doesn't have the killer instinct of Dayne (as a collegiate, anyway) or even a second tier back like Calhoun. Tolzien has the moxie to stand in the pocket and get plastered delivering a strike, and the intelligence to throw it away or take the sack.

OSU will probably still win the game - as they should, they're the better team - but this isn't the same sort of Badger team that you've seen lately.

Although I don't see us beating the OSU this year, if
these teams meet next season, it will be UW that prevails. We are young and OSU is tough at home but
I believe we will have the talent to compete with
OSU, esp. with another year of experience under our
pads.

Trailing at halftime in two of those games is not, as you say, in control. You are somewhat correct on your fourth quarter analogy. Wisc. has given up 50+ points in the 4th quarter already this year, about the same as OSU has given up TOTAL. The problem is that Wisc. has given up a lot of points in every other quarter as well.

Yes, I was in a hurry this morning and left off the second "A" in 1AA...But I get points for adding it to Wofford! Heh! And being creative with "reality shot" was basically just license. It's pretty bad when Badger fans aren't just critical of other teams - but think they are some kind of linguist or grammar police as well...(HA!)

I have watched a couple of your games this year and I certainly would not catagorize them as Wisconsin being "in control". <shrug> Let's see how "in control" they will be late tomorrow afternoon...shall we say about 4:00 or 4:30 or so?

I'll give OSU their defense, but Wisconsin has a better offense. Other than USC, OSU hasn't faced a good offense. Wisconsin has faced 3 pretty good offensive teams.. MSU, NIU, and Fresno St. They're young, getting better, and like to hit. They also won't quit like last year's team. This will be closer than you think.

gobux..you probably just think you're so creative and humorous. in which, i find humorous.

This game will be great, i am a UW fan, and my brother an OSU graduate and fan.. so i really see both perspectives. In defense to the badgers, this is not a quailty OSU team, if you guys had some quailty wideouts, my god, you would dominate. but, you are young too, as are the badgers. point being i think both of these teams are on the rise, badgers more so on the rise (being extremely young, and extremely talented). I see this coming down to how effective the badgers secondary will be, if they don't show up, i see OSU "doin work" however, if not, i see this being a very entertaining game down to the wire. hope the bigten can hold its own vs. the rest of the nation

Kirk, nice moniker. Get your kid out off de-tox, Wisconsin played Wofford, because Toledo, Navy & New Mexico State were busy.

Born in Ohio and attended Denison when Woody was there. Now in Wisconsin and a Badger fan. This should be a very good game. Badgers have a great offense. Our passing game should loosen up the OSU defense. Watchout!

May the best team win.

OSU has the second best defense in the country after Alabama. If Wisconsin beats the Buckeyes tomorrow, it means we have decent team for the first time since back to back victories over Auburn and Arkansas on Jan. 1st of 2006 and 2007. It makes having the Big Ten Network worthwhile way down south in Dixie. Ironically, the BTN is notably absent from 99% of the cable packages in Wisconsin. Go figure! Go Badgers!

Maurcie Clarret was telling the truth, but your linebacker has been choking him for the last 5 years.

I hope there won't be any death threats to Pryor after they lose tomorrow !!

Bucky Fans are really serious !!
