Let's hope that these guys won't turn into what "other" 757 area code players have turned into.....in jail and bankrupt.

Like Michael Vick, and Plexico Buress? Maybe there's something in the water. Nah...I doubt it. There are good people and bad people all over this land. Our head coach hails from your area, and he is a model that many are trying to follow. We also have one of the NFL's very best tight ends (Heath Miller) also from Virginia.

I couldn't agree more about Mike Tomlin. He is a class act and is the one redeeming person in the sports field who doesn't embarrass this area. I grew up in PA ( graduated from Clarion U and my husband graduated from PITT) so I am a die hard Steeler fan. However, more often than not, professional athletes from this area get money and then the "thug" comes out in them. Add A. Iverson to your list above.

Funny, I grew up in Virginia (Poquoson). But I've lived in PA so long that I consider this home. I don't think it's any one area that has problems with pro athletes running amok. It starts with parents and coaches putting them on a pedestal because of their talent, and letting them get away with any and everything. Wouldn't it be nice if they'd work on character-building instead of building "characters"?
I'm in Westmoreland County...maybe about 3 miles from St. Vincent College. You ought to take the drive and join us for training camp this summer.

That's almost coincidental about the geographic reversals! But again, I couldn't agree more about the building of character in sports. In one particular section of this area(downtown NN) it is "fashionable" to be a thug. Everyone in this particular area looks up to M. Vick and A. Iverson. Mike Tomlin's name is seldom mentioned as being cool. We've often talked about coming up during spring training, but somehow it never seems to work out quite right.
