This is the time of year when everyone "knows" what is going to happen. Folks express their opinions as facts. The Miners, like most other teams, will enter the season with question marks at some positions but it is premature to say that the season will be unsuccessful. That is why the games are played. The important thing is to back the Miners 100%. Fill the Sun Bowl for every home game and cheer for victory. after all this is college football, rich in tradition, to be enjoyed, not analyzed to death prior to a game being played.
GO MINERS!!!!!!!!!!
Bill, no disrespect but your views and suggestions are idiotic in itself.
You have 800,000 people in El Paso and you can't even get 1/3 of El pasoans to back the football team because they are compared to the Bad News Bears.
UTEP does not have a winning tradition, but a losing tradition. And before I get scrutinized, it's a FACT. Go and lookup the past 25 years from season to season or add up their records and tell me what you get.
Majority of fair weathered El Paso sports fans want winners and cheer for winners. Why do you think their are more Texas shirts sold in retail stores than there are UTEP shirts?
I'm not discounting the loyal UTEP supporters, but they are outnumbered and there is only a handful.
At the end of the day, that's only about 15,000 people going to the Sun Bowl for every home game.
Get a decent, above .500 football team and you'll get about 30,000 fans.
It's off topic, but look what has happened to the Diablos.
The only way you can get 50,000+ screaming fans to sell out the Sun Bowl is to be a good CONSISTENT program and play a better program.
Other than that, fans see the product on the field and it's not exactly 5 star talent. The writing has been on the wall for the longest time and there is less of a chance of it turning around until you bring in the big name coaches who can bring in the big name recruits.
