What a joke. The defense is supposed to carry the team, and an offense put together with spit and bailing wire runs up 41 points on it. Get real Price. Stull get a coach.

UTEP better use that first game to really get on a role otherwise this is going to be a very rough year with so many question marks. One of the quarterbacks needs to step up as a leader and produce (which greatly depends on an inexperienced front line). the defense is deep and should continue to improve.

Once again too many injuries, suspensions, dropped passes, and probably the same old plays? Can't wait.

This is the time of year when everyone "knows" what is going to happen. Folks express their opinions as facts. The Miners, like most other teams, will enter the season with question marks at some positions but it is premature to say that the season will be unsuccessful. That is why the games are played. The important thing is to back the Miners 100%. Fill the Sun Bowl for every home game and cheer for victory. after all this is college football, rich in tradition, to be enjoyed, not analyzed to death prior to a game being played.

I'm really surprised that EP Times hasn't given the Def Coordinator more credit. He inherited a CRAPPY group and made them somewhat respectable. They were really good this Spring. Give that dude (Def Coordinator) some love UTEP Fans, at least it is something to be positive about.

Bill, no disrespect but your views and suggestions are idiotic in itself.

You have 800,000 people in El Paso and you can't even get 1/3 of El pasoans to back the football team because they are compared to the Bad News Bears.

UTEP does not have a winning tradition, but a losing tradition. And before I get scrutinized, it's a FACT. Go and lookup the past 25 years from season to season or add up their records and tell me what you get.

Majority of fair weathered El Paso sports fans want winners and cheer for winners. Why do you think their are more Texas shirts sold in retail stores than there are UTEP shirts?

I'm not discounting the loyal UTEP supporters, but they are outnumbered and there is only a handful.

At the end of the day, that's only about 15,000 people going to the Sun Bowl for every home game.
Get a decent, above .500 football team and you'll get about 30,000 fans.

It's off topic, but look what has happened to the Diablos.

The only way you can get 50,000+ screaming fans to sell out the Sun Bowl is to be a good CONSISTENT program and play a better program.

Other than that, fans see the product on the field and it's not exactly 5 star talent. The writing has been on the wall for the longest time and there is less of a chance of it turning around until you bring in the big name coaches who can bring in the big name recruits.

I'm always optimistic....but I'm sorry, not this year. I'm sick and tired of the same B.S. every year, like the starters always somehow getting suspended or they get hurt!? WTF did they come to El Paso for? They got their scholarship to play football and need to stop F***ing around and get serious.

And I'm sick and tired of hearing about Marlon McClure getting suspended. If I was the coach I would have cut him from the team a long time ago.... what a waste of a scholarship!

Quarterback situation, Brett that's all you talk about is the scholarship guys. What about Tate or Carson?? Niether 4 qb's stood out and it is far from settled from what Ive seen and hear. From what I have read Tate has the most experience in a game, price should of equaled the teams better so we the fans could of seen what each qb had with a good o line.

I'm just gonna come out and say it. I wanted Price fired 2 years ago, still wanted him gone last year, even before the Miners got embarrased by BYU in Albuquerque and I want him gone before this season even starts. Just as said above, Price has cried wolf before and I know its his job to sound optimistic but he couldn't put together a respectable team with a seasoned state champ QB last year and senior laden team. I dont see it happening thsi year either. That being said, I will still support the Miners and go to the games and stay till teh end of each game just as i did all previous years, I just do NOT believe he can get it done here.

QBs down to the "2 they recruited"... that seems to sum up the motive of MP. He obviously set up the spring game to let those two excel and to screw Tate and Carson over, yet it didn't work with Lamaison having the same stats as the other two pretty much. Meger shows the most leadership from what I have seen while Smith provides experience. The last 4 QBs MP has recruited have left, Jeremy Springer moved positions, Tim Curry and Andy Mccloud transferred, Corey Trisby is gone, Price has to save himself because Meger and Smith now have shown promise as much as the "2 they recruited" in Hall and Lamaison. Good luck trying to have a winning season with a subjective coach...
