this is an absolute disgrace for USC Football! all the students and fans of USC should be ashamed of themselves for supporting this losing organisation. I am ashamed to be a resident of Los Angeles, the same city that hosts a loser football team like the Trojans. what really upsets me is that the Trojans didnt even try to win the game, after the Oregon Ducks started to pull away. Shame on barkley, the quarterback for throwing an interception at the end of the game, shame of Pete carroll for not coming up with any plays that really mattered, and SHAME on the USC Fans for being stupid and thoughtless on thinking SC even had a chance to win this one!

Don't overreact SC fans, you simply got beat by a very good team tonight. The season is far from over and the Trojans can close out and finish with a very respectable record and a decent bowl game. I know you don't want anything less than a Rose bowl appearance, but this is a young team that has a very bright future. Barkley is a future Heisman lock- that kid is impressive. You've got a core group of studs on both sides of the ball. The rub: On the flip side, Oregon is very young too... Masoli will be back next year... our incredible RB James is a freshman, along with our other RB Barner (the one with the big return) is also a frosh. Very young defense too. Next year will be a fierce battle between these two teams and an awful lot of fun to watch unfold. It's been a great run SC. I know you'd like to, but this was bound to happen sometime (and I'm sure many of you felt there was a good chance tonight (well, last night) looked bleak going in. You stumbled across an Oregon team that could have stuck it to any team in the country this night. Honestly, I think they look just like they did the season that Dixon went down with the knee (they were heading to a very possible Championship appearance and then lost all their mojo without him) and they tanked the end of the season. Barring injuries, this Duck team has the potential to fulfill what "may have been"- with the exception (dang) of a BCS Championship which would require some miracles to occur outside of their control. Anyway, chin up SC. You're still a power... just cross your fingers that recruiting is favorable, as Oregon may definitely see more 4 stars and perhaps a blue chip or two peaking interest in this exciting system. I didn't intend on writing a novel... but what can I say... once it starts, well... I can get carried away. Go Pac 10!
PS. I was listening to post game on am 710 online after the game and they read a text I sent regarding Oregon's use of no huddle offense. That was prety exciting for little old me!

You got what you wanted didn't you, Wolf? How the hell did you construct this thought: "But the way the Ducks (7-1, 5-0) won made a mockery of Carroll's success at USC?" The Ducks won a game. No one can mock USC's success at USC. By the way, Oregon has never won a game in the Coliseum since the time of the great Akili Smith. Whatever happened to him? USC ddin't play its game. That would have had to have been a different defense. A) Jam the Oregon receivers at the line of Scrimmage. B) Have Mays spy Masoli and bash him as he crossed the line of scrimmage. C) Run the Cornerback blitz and have the Defensive ends go into coverage on those plays. What is sad for Oregon is that none of their players on offense will play in the NFL. Anyone could see that this was a gimmicky offense and USC's coach, Pete Carroll, had his players in the wrong defense. Worse for Oregon, offensive players of size and skill won't go to Eugene. The Oregon offense is favoring quick small guys about 5'7: to 5'8" -- taller than that not needed. An offense designed for deception and based on a gimmick will clrash and burn everytime. When will that happen? On the outside of the range of time, let's see if Oregon can win in the Coliseum before a diferent crowd while taking on a USC offense and defense that is a year more experienced. If they can't beat USC at USC, then even Akili Smith did what the current Oregon crew hasn't been able to do in this decade.

For some time it has been evident that Carroll, the Music Man, needs coaches. After Chow left it was the offensive strategy -- now it seems it is the defense. The basic philosophy today is that everyone gets into the game which would be great if you were playing Little League. Basically, no one can tackle and the entire team does not the basics down. They showboat and the get penalties; a game does not go by when they don't get a unsportsmanlike penalty. They are constantly off sides. The Music Man should re-evaluate his coaching and get strong people around him-- if his ego will allow it. There is a reason why he failed in the Pros. In college just having the best athletes helps but it helps to be able to tackle and block.

Perhaps if the Trojans played football and left their attitude and swagger home they might have done better. The total lack of adjustment on D was embarrassing. Sun Bowl? That might be a bit ambitious.

Now say USC is not over rated on both sides of the ball. They were taken behind the wood shed last night & spanked. Spanked so bad it was border line child abuse. The big question now , is , how far in the BCS standings will Peter Cottontail & the Sunshine Boys fall ?

Go ahead and quack your crap ducks. It is a rebuilding year for the Trojans. Didn't expect them to be a championship team. Rebuilding year and all, we will still play and win a bowl. We can wait 'til 2010,11,12 and beyond. We can sit on our laurals for one season. You quackers will see the Trojans in 2010..an experienced Matt Barkley and at team that has jelled into the nations finest. Where are the ducks in the NFL? Mighty Trojans are everywhere, on virtually every team, carrying the proud tradition of Trojan football. In years to come, Jeremiah Masole will be watching Matt Barkley break records in the NFL while he is picking pineapples in Wahiwa.

Nobody recruits better than S.U.C., and nobody is as consistant at throwing in the boner game or games every year. Nobody does less with more than S.U.C. Uncle Pete looks like he aged 10 years in about 3 hours. I do agree with Uncle Pete about the BCS standings not being fair to S.U.C....They don't deserve to be anywhere near the top ten.

I know I am going to be called a whiner, but so be it, at this point I could really care less. We have been hit hard by the injury bug this year, Mays is playing hurt, as was Bradford, Mcknight and of course Stephon tragically ended his college career a few weeks ago. Our center was out, Griffin hobbled off the field Smith left the game and on and on and on......But of course no one will be speaking of all of our injuries, just about how bad we lost and all the Trojan haters will be out in force!! I think losing all our great players to the NFL each year finally caught up a little, but we will be back and Barkley will be a great one, just wait and see and to all the Trojan faithfuls......Hold your head up and FIGHT ON!!!!! Oh Yeah, I did forget our great Tight end was also out, Anthony McCoy!!! Like I said, call me a whiner but I'm proud to be a Trojan and always will be....win or lose!!

Props to Oregon...as a long time SC fan I have never seen a team steamroll SC the way the Ducks did last night. It's one thing to get your tails kicked because of turnovers and stupid penalties, but last night had nothing to do with that....that was a complete ass whooping. AS PC said after the game...the challenge is to get back to basics and get the mindset right and go down to ASU and get a win there. There still is an outside chance to get to the Fiesta Bowl if SC finishes 10-2...because SC is a marquee program and it also means TV ratings....Trojan fans I know how your feeling...but I would rather get my ass kicked by a lot than lose by a little...if you lose by a little you should have done something in the course of the game to change it.

Hey, for SC fans, it was a very bad game, but it's just one game, and a young team on the road is likely to falter against a very good team like Oregon.
Barkley is the real deal, and with some playing time behind them, the D will get better. I think next years rematch will be awesome.
As for Bill from Florida's comments about a gimmicky offense, it's basically the same offense the gators use, and I would match Oregon's speed and athleticism against anyone's in the nation. Regarding Akili Smith, I just read where he is coaching JC football in the San Diego area and working towards his masters in Theology. He wants to become a minister. He last played football for the Calgary Stampede.
GO DUCKS!! GO PAC 10!!

I lived in SoCal for 21/2 years and put up with insufferable USC fans acting as though the Trojans alone were God's gift to football. It gave me great joy to watch the Ducks squash an overrated team, and now maybe more people will realize substance will always win over style!...

I am 79 and an avid Husky fan. I n my 60 years of watching football, I have never witnessed a more commanding performance than that of Misouli and Oregon Ducks. They dismantled the supremacy of USC in a dazzling display of offensive genius. Their coaching was superb and their execusion flawless. They are blessed with a combination of talent that compliments all their positions. They played a game that will go down in the annals of football lore that will be a study of one of the gifts of supremancy. On halloween day the ducks were mesmerizing.
