What an underrated conference we play in!!! I guess it doesn't help matters that any of our cellar dwellers can knock off any team at the top. And because of that, rather than being seen as a tough conference from top to bottom, C-USA is perceived as mediocre, even though several teams boast strong OOC wins. Lunardi, Katz and all those other chubs at ESPN should take their blinders off and stop sniffing the a$$e$ of the Big 6 conferences and take notice that there is a whole other world of good basketball being played in C-USA, A-12, MVC, CAA, WCC, etc...

That's OKAY, if the people who sit and missjudge us for our play then the better for us when it comes time to play them.
A lot of good team across the nation are underrated, and many of them win so called upsets and that is the only way to get the media to notice is to win the games.
But that should not be translated wrongly either.
The only way UTEP is getting any respect from the ESPN's et al is to win while not caring about the media attention.
With each win UTEP should be humble about it. The "W's" will take care of themselves.

Absolutely agree with you about how UTEP should handle their business regarding winning. But, as a disgruntled fan, I recognize the importance of being on the national radar (ESPN, Sagarin, high RPI) when it comes down to selection Sunday. However, our exposure is going to suffer in a less than positive light due to the common misperception of C-USA being mediocre. I realize there is nothing that can be done about it and think its unfortunate that UTEP and the rest of C-USA's legitimate tourney teams (Memphis, UAB, SoMiss) probably won't get their fair due. I mean C-USA is ranked only behind the big 6 conferences and the MWC and yet several of the conferences that rank behind us have up to 3 projected bids for the tourney. C-USA has 1!!! What am I missing here? Rather, what are the Lunardi's and Katz's and others missing? For those that think the RPI and other computer programs used to project the best 68 teams for the tourney are the only tools being used to make the determination...think again. Humans are the ones making the final decision and these decisions are made based upon PERCEPTION!
