I belive Rodriguez should be put in the same category as Alex Rodriguez with the New York Yankees. He is all out for himself. Who in the world would entertain another job and allow a distraction to his team right when they need him the most after a discouraging loss to Pitt. Alex Rodriguez wanted to outstage the World Series and announce his free agency and recently wasn't getting enough attention and announced his signing along the same day as the Mitchell Report. If that is not thinking to high of yourself I don't know what is. Rich Rod is all out for himself. If it wasn't for WV making him coach he would not have gotten a chance, but now he is outstaging the hand that fed him for so many years. If he can not survive in WV making $2 million dollars a year I say let him go. Coaches tell their players to be loyal and start what they finish. I think most coaches today are liken the hypicritcal Nick Sabans, Bobby Petrino's and sad to say of my own home town coach Rich Rodriguez. What happened to what is right. We need more Coach Paterno's. I don't here coach Pa shouting for a raise and if anyone needed more money over his tenure it would be him.

It's moot. HE'S GONE. He got his dream job, and WVU is left holding the bag for another hire. The day of coaches like Bobby Bowden, Don Nehlan, and Joe Paterno are GONE!!! I don't know what to think...

Way ahead of you, TDDog. I just got a little emotional is all. I gess we know the cost of honor, integrity, and loyalty. It's 4 million, baby. So, life goes on. Lets see who the new man is and give him a chance. We still got OK to play.(Who wants to bet Slaton books for the pro's now.)

he came in and left the same way, with little class...he can coach, is innovative, but the spread is not going to be as easy to run in the Big Ten,(teams are catching up to it), and we will see how it plays out...bigger issue is new coach, recruits, staff, and type of "O" that will be run...

I belive thats one reason we lost to Pitt, couldn't have a team going for the Natinal Championship, when the coach is going to be in Michigan

That could explain RR's reactions during the game and after, but I doubt the team knew. I can tell you this. His record against Pitt was OK. He'll have to do a lot better against OSU, or he'll be forcibly retired, just like Lloyd Carr.

art deco,i don't think you are close enough to administration or the coaches to make such a statement.the events that have taken place two weeks prior to the pitt game were crucial to the eventual michigan hiring of rr. right now you are coming off as a smart ass that knows nothing. eventually, wvu and mountaineers fans will sort the facts and rr will be loss in the annals of time..

West Virginia was one dimensional. Run with a good qb and running back and play against the mediocre Big East foes and you will put up stats all day, like they did. They lost to a South Florida. Then they play Pitt, there a 30 point favorite at home and get beat. You saw what happened when Pat White went down, could not move the ball at all.

Rich Rodriguez saw the future. He knew his team was about to play probably one of hottest teams in the country, Oklahoma and knew they were going to get smoked. He knew he was about to be exposed as an average coach. Now when his team needs him more then ever, he says " Heck no, I want no part, of them Sooners". He can't get out of Morgantown fast enough.

This goes out to War Eagle as well. WVU lost because Pitt did one heck of a job on defense, and did just enough on offense to get it done. Nobody is making excuses here. Whether or not MI's interest in Rodriguez occurred prior to the game is irrelevant to the way WVU's offense sputtered, while their defense played fine.

By the way, War Eagle, it was Brown who scored WVU's only TD. That's in spite of how well Pitt was defending him after White left the game. If Brown had been given more reps, he would have done much better each time out.

ADM, you've made your point in spades. I've said so myself in other threads, that WVU's offense played lousy against Pitt. We're not deaf. So, why the need to drive the point home, when it's already there?

By the way, having watched the game, I agree with the poor play calling at the end; i.e. 2 iffy holding calls (Yes, the kid had a hold of jersey each time.) and a pass interference no-call. It hardly makes up for the phantom personal foul call against WVU, that turned a failed 3rd down into a 1st down in FG range, not to mention a bunch of holding no-calls which helped their RB to gain at least 1/3 of his yardage. But, that's OK I suppose.

Fine. Tell me again how badly WVU played; maybe I didn't hear you the 1st 3 times.

If the S*!tt game chased coach slimeball out of town, good riddance. The heart of a champion is built on your ability to adjust. And this guy can't adjust. His gameplan. Or his attitude. You lose. You move on and learn. Or you run away.

Which one would you be more proud of: learning or running away?

ADC, I think I'm about tizzied out, given what's happened over the last 2 weeks, who wouldn't be. And, I refuse to say it can't get any worse, because you and I both know it can.(Shades of SMU)

So, new coach for WVU...any thoughts?!?

Terry Bowden,Jimbo Fisher,Bud Foster, Doc Holiday? Skip Holtz,Butch Jones, etc. I've even heard ramblings that Nick Saban's agent has contacted WVU! I find that hard to believe and would find him as a WVU coach even harder to swallow. One snake is enough WVU! I personally would like to see Bud Foster with an offensive guy as O cordinator. Maybe Trickett? I've also heard that Lou Holtz is considering coming out of retirement. Who knows at this point? If I was a betting man though I'd go with Bowden to get it.
