Attended the game on Saturday. Perhaps one of the most complete games I have observed Southern Miss play. While the triple option challenged the run defense of Southern Miss, I would rate the defense as an A. The offense rates an A+, garnered on the back on the superior play of the offensive line. Quarterback Davis played well with one fumble and two incompletions. His athletic ability was enhanced by the more than adequate amount of time the "O" line gave him to execute. The lone fumble in the game appeared to be miscommunication between the running back and the quarterback. The running back never looked back when the ball was fumbled, indicating he expected, or at least thought Davis had retained the ball.

I tip my hat to the coaching staff. The Golden Eagle coaching staff placed the Navy coaching staff on the horns of a dilemma. Protect the run and the Eagles will pass. Protect the pass and...well, you get the point. Bravo Zulu!(Navy term for well done.)

Well played Golden Eagles. Good luck with the health of the team over the next two weeks as preparation begins for SMU and the back 1/2 of the schedule.
