Did you see what the Lady Boilermakers did to the Lady Longhorns last evening ?? That was a #6 seed beating a # 3 seed. That's what the Men Boilermakers are going to do the Huskies this Thursday evening in Tucson. By the way I know the unemployment rate is high here in CT but Tony from Cromwell, Timster, Andrea from West Hartford, and 3rd World Man, you guys need to get jobs. You would never find this kind of behavior back in Indiana. On our way to the Elite Eight --- Dickie V can you hear BABY --- IT"S AWESOME !!

The Lady Boilers beat UNC not Texas. The game on Thursday is in Glendale (Phoenix) not Tucson. Pipe down and quit giving Boilermaker fans bad names.

At least the Purdue guy has confidence.

I actually like this matchup for UConn. They sort of remind me a of a tougher, more defense-oriented Notre Dame, athletically speaking. Sure Kramer's a tough kid and Hummel is a guy that can step back, but athletically, UConn matches up very well against them. As for Johnson, I like his game, long and lean and a nice athlete. But he's not a banger and we've seen UConn have a little bit of trouble against teams that match physicality each trip down the floor. If Purdue wants to slow things up and hope for a half-court game, you really have to wonder if they can win those mono-y-mono battles underneath against UConn's bigs. I don't think so. Brockman from Washington was too strong inside for Purdue and UConn has more toughness and length (Adrien, Robinson, Edwards) inside than just Thabeet.

Oh well, we'll see, should be fun, or stomach-turning. Whichever.

I agree that Purdue has some big guys in the middle, but they don't match up well with the Huskies front court men. If Uconn plays their game, they will out rebound and out quick the much slower Purdue team. I think that Uconn has the best chance for winning in this round than any of the other match ups.

I didn't know that the University of North Carolina's nickname was the Longhorns. And I didn't realize that Purdue was playing UConn in Tucson -- I thought it was in Glendale, which is about two hours away. Purdue may or may not beat UConn on Thursday, whichever (I hope they don't), but at least I can take solace that I know enough about basketball that North Carolina isn't the "Longhorns". Must be one of those alumni "fans" that come out of the woodwork in March around tournament time, huh?

(Oh, and next time, don't forget to release the shift key before you type the apostrophe. Here in Connecticut, we have a key called "caps lock" that you might find pretty useful. Look for it on the left side of the keyboard.)

That Purdue Boilermaker fan (from Meriden) does have confidence! Same confidence he had when he was a Chattanooga fan, same as when he was a Texas A+M fan. Please post Thursday at 9:30 pm sir and tell us what a confident Memphis fan you are from Meriden. I agree with Marcus on the guard disparity, our physical inside dominance honed in the Big East week in, week out. I agree, Purdue tries to go almost four corners on this one to stay in the game. Guess what happens when you employ that strategy and your down 10 to a quicker more physical team? You guessed it "BLOW OUT CITY". Can you say that in your best Dicky V. voice Mr. Boilermaker?

Boilmaker 96 -- You guys have no chance. AJ is going for 20 and Stanley, Jeff, and Thabeet will be in the high teens. Huskies in a BLOWOUT !!

Excellent thoughts, Timster. Boilermaker fan's sports intelligence level is revealed when he calls the University of North Carolina: "LongHorns". Wrong state, and wrong nickname Boilerbrain! UNC is nicknamed the "Tar Heels". Anyone who has even the smallest amount of collegiate basketball knowledge knows that fact. Stick to a sport that perhaps you know something about Boiermaker fan - tiddlywinks, perhaps! And, I hope that Boilermaker fan doesn't have tickets, planning on attending the game Thursday. If the nitwit is planning on going to Tucson as he claims is the location of the game, then he'll be quite disappointed getting to the arena and it's empty. As others have correctly pointed out, the UConn/Purdue game is in Glendale, AZ.
Now for UConn's chances against Purdue. As long as UConn takes care of business defensively by locking down on Purdue's offensive threats, and controlling the boards. As long as they run their offense-distributing their shots mainly between A.J. shooting from the outside, and Jeff and Stanley making shots from inside the paint. If Hasheem can stay on the floor out of foul trouble and do his usual mayhem by blocking shots and intimidating the Purdue big men, then we'll see the Huskies on Saturday in the Elite Eight round!
Go UConn!

We can only hope Thabeet plays to his ability and doesn't commit dumb fouls. But for Jeff and AJ stepping up big-time, that could've been trouble for us against A&M. If Thabeet gets minutes and plays tough - like he's capable of doing - and the rest of the Huskies play the way they did in the first two tournament games, this one will be over at halftime. If he only plays 8-10 minutes because he picks up a couple of cheap fouls, then we'll have to work a lot harder, and I'm not sure we'll be able to count on Jeff making everything he throws up there. Go, Huskies!

I haven't seen enough of Perdue (any, really....do they play basketball at Perdue? I thought all respectable Indiana men went to IU or Notre Dame), but I do know what UCONN did to Michigan, and it wasn't a pretty day for the Big 10.

UCONN is playing at a very high level and I like their chances against a 5th seed in the regional semi as much as against anyone else. Bring it. Go Huskies.

Will Farrell? Is that you? I thought you were more clever than to pull out the ol' "laptop" reset. What's next? "1918" chants at Sox games?

Please go away.

From way down town - BANG! That's the creativity this board needs!(coming from a guy, uh, me, who can no longer sit in the Bronx bleachers and chant "19-18" clap, clap, clap, clap, clap)

But I digress.

The problem withpurdue this season has been long scoring droughts I'm talking 5-8 minutes with no field goals, against a talented team like uconn this will put them down 20+ points in a heartbeat I hate to say it but I forsee a rout for the huskies I hope I'm wrong prediction uconn 79 purdue 61
