Typical SC sportsmanship. Get away with it once, try it again, then apologize and pretend like it wasn't intentional. Yea right. I'm sure Coach Carol and the rest were high fiving the kid in the locker room. Only reason they are back pedaling now is due to the official being suspended.

I guess until the thug breaks another players neck, it's all just of the game, SC style.

Spike, I agree....
Normally I would give the defender the benefit of the doubt in terms of his intent.
Not with Mays. Five times in the last two games with OSU he has committed facemask/horsecollar penalties. Problem is, he's only been flagged for three of them.
Great athlete with lousy instincts who gets to plays late and resorts to arm tackling the head in order to make "the play".
Refs need to watch him more closely. Conference needs to suspend him if he gets another one - of course, maybe let him decapitate a few 'uck WR's first, of course.

I saw several blatant Southern Cal penalties in the first quarter that were not called - a late hit out of bounds and a pass interference. I knew the phantom calls, or lack of, were going to haunt any opposition in the Colossium. Southern Cal's karma will be sweet and hopefully soon!

I love it. When USC gets screwed on questionable penalties, that's fine and dandy. After all, we deserve it. When some penalties are missed, it's the end of the world and sooo unfair. Waahhh!!! If you scrutinize each and every game for all other FBS D1 teams, you will discover the same results. Amazing how that works, especially since refs are only human and prone to errors like the rest of us. All you USC haters can keep on hating. We will keep Fighting On!

If Mays deserves a personal foul penalty, he should get it. In this case he immediately apologized to the player and USC got lucky. No biggie. Things always even out for both teams. Now we have a very p*i*s*s*e*d off ref who got suspended and payback will be a BIT**. That's the way it goes.

They are just following the SEC on this one, after it got such a positive response.
It is widely recognized that we have some of the worst refs in any BCS conference, yet we are a better football conference than the ACC, Big 10, or Big East.
This isn't a new thing either, it's been going on for years and years.
As for Taylor Mays... who knows. He seems to do a lot of cheap hitting out there but he really does just go for the big hits so he is bound to time a few wrong.

We all know, of course, that Carroll is going to say that his player isn't dirty. No coach would ever say that. Carroll also knows darn well that Mays got away with murder, twice. 1st quarter (Horse-collar/Facemask combo on Kjos) and the 4th quarter (Ripping Rodgers head off). And you know what? He very well may have apologized on the spot because I don't know if anyone else saw it, but the look that Rodgers gave Mays was a "WTF is your problem you thug?" I hope Mays feels bad because he is a head-hunter. I can appreciate a player that is very aggressive and goes after it. But after watching the ND game, and then the USC game, it solidified that he lets his emotions and frustrations get the best of him. It's unfortunate that he was not penalized either time, but that's what happens. I'm glad the ref is getting suspended.

If I'm Mays, I'd be careful in Eugene. Hewill have a target on his back and I got a feeling there will be some TE's and WR's gunning for him. In Eugene, they'll fight fire with fire.

Coach Carroll's statements are understandable, but he doesn't have a leg to stand on. The play was dangerous, and in full view. Unfortunately, the total work of the officials on the day was atrocious as the two calls mentioned here were not the only mysteries. This was too important of a game to have such a lousy crew on. Carroll's opinion that Taylor Mays is not a dirty player is not shared by many outside the USC community.

After watching the replay, I could clearly see that it was a facemask, but when I saw it live, I thought his forearm caught the helmet and knocked it off. It was a blown call, but he didn't twist the facemask and Rogers was unhurt, so it's not a huge deal.

Besides, last week the refs missed an equally blatant facemask on Bradford (where he fumbled after his knee was down and they needed replay to overturn the call and give the ball back to the Trojans).

Despite what most bRUIN fans believe, most of the calls go against SC.

Typical SC fan that works in food service. SC recruits thugs from ghetto hoods, why expect them to follow the most basic rules of civility? It's all about winning. What the hell, let em bring guns and tire irons into the game, it's tackle football, right?

Idiot,I think many USC players come from your ghetto? You are posting from Long Beach. Where Taylor is from an exclusive area in Seattle.

Daily Horoscope for December 30

Libra

If you're invited to a party or gathering today and you don't know whether to go, you should. You'll have a terrific time and you might meet someone who always makes your knees go weak. Even if it's a perfectly harmless flirtation and you're both happily committed to other people, it will still do your ego good to have a tantalizing conversation with this person.
